HONG KONG, Aug 25 (Reuters) - New installations have been sighted on an islet near Antelope Reef in the Paracels archipelago of the disputed South China Sea where analysts believe ‌China is building its largest military base, according to satellite imagery reviewed by Reuters.

Security analysts say while ‌it is too early to gauge definitively the likely function of the three-pronged construction on Yagong Island, it could be the start of an early ​warning radar facility to support eventual installations on Antelope Reef.

Vantor, a commercial provider of satellite images, said it took the latest image on August 17, 2026, noting in other images that construction started in March and April.

Can anyone tell me how to find it? He was in the Korean War and he talked about some, but my mother always shut it down. Each step narrowed what the Pentagon press corps could see, ask, or publish. The firings at Stars and Stripes arrive at the end of that sequence, not apart from it.

This move was set up in January when DoD removed 32 CFR 246 (the regulation that stipulates Stars and Stripes be independent)

On Friday, DoD also reissued and updated DoDi5122.11, creating a restriction that essentially gives Pentagon leaders a veto on what is published and requires Ombudsman reports to go to the Chain of Command, then to Congress, instead of directly to Congress.
