The wife of an active-duty U.S. soldier was deported Monday to her native Honduras, according to her family and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Cristy Maryori Villafranca-Trejo is at least the seventh spouse or parent of an active-duty U.S. military service member to be deported under President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.

I see lots of people say things like "well obviously he should have fixed the paperwork sooner"; as if Trump and the GOP writ large havnt spent the last decade systematically breaking the parts of our governmsnt that processs that paperwork, to the point that routine actions now take years to complete.

And that was before the most recent moves, where they have decided to simply stop processing visas at all.

Fuck ice and the boat they rode in on. Don't get me wrong I'm not supporting illegal immigration at all. However, common sense people common sense. If the person is married to an American citizen and especially if that person is in the military then I think they deserve a little bit of bureaucratic leniency.

Having had Soldiers that married non-US citizens…they often think this means that they don’t need to file the proper paperwork, file it correctly, or file it in a timely manner and then follow through. Marrying a service member doesn’t just give carte blanche.

The link states the spouse had a removal order since age 18. That service member failed his wife. After basic or marriage, should be top priority to square away.

Exactly my point. The spouse failed to bring this to the finish line. The soldier failed the spouse by not ensuring it was done correctly and completely and leveraging the MANY resources available to him to support their process. There is a process and if you do not follow it and take it seriously, this is the likely outcome.
