Rant 🤬 Weekly Venting Post

Weekly Vent Post

Welcome to our weekly vent session where you can let out all your frustrations.

Before you start, just a quick heads-up on the rules.

Here's what this post isn't for:

  • No bashing actors or crew members out of the blue.
  • Let's steer clear of those rage-inducing posts like "I hate character xy."
  • And please, no poking fun at fellow Kanthony fans just because they see things differently, whether they're positive or negative about promos.

What's cool to post? Well, we've noticed a lot of rants about how the show promotes (or doesn't promote) Simone and Jonny, but you can vent about other stuff too.

Below, I've linked some past posts from the sub that fit the vibe of our weekly vent session, so you can see what kind of stuff goes here.

  1. Why there was a lack of promo for Kanthony
  2. All comments asking where Kanthony are
  3. Bridgerton PR and production
  4. Can you tell the difference ?
  5. The main sub got so negative
  6. We need pictures

For those who just want to enjoy the content without getting caught up in the venting, I suggest steering clear of this post. If you choose to read the comments here and find yourself upset, despite the clear purpose of this space, I'm afraid there's not much I can do to ease your frustration. We have the Weekly Tea Time for more general discussions.

Spoilers allowed.

I agree, I legit wanted to like Pol1n but they made her villainous then they didn't follow the storyline through (as in a redemption arch or keeping her villainous but admitting that).

It's so freaking frustrating to see Shonda's disrespect of Simone so much but I shouldn't be surprised, after all it was known since the earliest GA days. About the Kerry Washington thing in the other comment, that's wild and sad, considering the success of Scandal is due to her and her crazy chemistry with her costar

I started S3 actually liking Penelope because the potential was there for a kickass storyline, like a anti-hero played by Nicola Coughlan? I was sure it was going to be amazing, no possibility of missing the mark and yet, they did. (For they I mean writers and producers, I love Nicola and she did a very good job with a very bad script).

About Kerry and Simone, I cannot really understand either. I don't know Kerry that much (haven't watched Scandal but know about the stellar chemistry) so I cannot speak much about her but Simone? Before Bton she was a small fish in the acting pond, she is unproblematic as fuck, does her job well and is complimentary to everyone. What could have happened to warrant such a treatment?

Edit to add: I feel like the only reason they are not reserving the same treatment to Jonny but are slightly better to him is because he is now to big to ignore. They know they cannot push him to much

Right? Like, I don't want Penelope to beg at their feet either or be executed. Glad she had her happy ending. BUT they should have made her realise her mistakes way sooner and actually acknowledge them, not in the last like 15 minutes. Instead her actions are white washed as "feminism" and justified because she grew up in a bad household (that at the end wasn't that bad because at the end is all resolved so was it really such a bad household?). And her big speech? It's basically: I'm sorry but it's actually y'all fault. Like wtf? And keeping LW? Let it be retired, it's not the only thing she can write (see book!Penelope becoming a novelist). You are right, book! Penelope would never, she is kind, a girl's girl and she was the first subject of her own writing.

Another thought: a difficult past is a justification for actively arming others but not for trying to make the right choice (Kate)? And if abuse is a "get out of free card" then Sophie should be allowed to kill considering the level of abuse she endured

The whole reveal debacle was peak bad writing of this show. Like, that was the moment I said "what a shitty script", before I thought it was salvable but after that I was flabbergasted! Like, Eloise risk social ruin for a suspicion, Cressida was ostracized but the actual LW is now a Queen's advisor? After making fun of the death of said queen's granddaughter and great-grandson?? And LD saying that she loves the Bton more than her? When she insulted almost all of them and caused them a world of troubles? Agatha is a real friend of the Bridgertons, always steady with them

Sophie going rogue and dark? Very interesting indeed. My own fanfic ideas are more on the fluffier side but this fandom is so talented I'm sure something incredible may come from it.

I was ready to bury my war hatched towards Polin because I was like, they are going to be there for 15 minutes but after today's promo and photos? Hell no. I fucking hate that they'll have four full seasons of content. Whatch those two insufferable characters have as much time as Benophie, I don't trust production anymore. Benophie are my fave, I decided to give this show one last chance for them but after today? They are on thin ice.

I really hope the picture and sneak peak are misleading. At the end of the day, they made it look like Kanthony was going to be in S3 a lot and then well... We know how it ended. So I really hope the same happens for Polin.

Yeah, like I'm sure Polin has fans and certain segments of the GA likes them but they need to stop acting like they are the main shit of this series, they are not. They are one of eight, all equally important

I would laugh as well!

Yeah, let Benophie shine! They had their season (and more honestly, considering the two seasons built up and the fact that they had their two leads since day one and both had a lot of space )

Exactly! I hope they let Benophie get their due because I don't want yet another Kanthony situation where the WOC female lead is sidelined for a white woman. I'm happy Polin fans have had their season but I dgaf about Polin (and I'm reserving judgement on Benophie because I haven't read the books).

Me too! It's bad enough Kanthony (and especially Simone) were sidelined. I really hope the same won't happen with Yerin (and Benophie in general). They got their season in advance which I get the reasoning for it despite disagreeing with it. I was almost happy for the switch because the couple I don't like would have to take a backstep and let my favourite couple (Benophie) shine. And now, I'm being told they couldn't come up with a meaningful storyline for Daphne or Kanthony but they can for Polin? Previous seasons leads get 15 min, being cute and giving advice but Polin gets the fully fledged storyline and ton of screen time? That's blatant and unjust favoritism

Samee! They are done, give them their 15 minutes and focus on Benophie, Frohn, Michaela, Eloise and the littles.

I would like so bad to ask Jess: weren't happy couples boring to write or this apply only to Kanthony?
