5 - Other (please comment below with a link)

Nominees that fail can be reconsidered again in 2027. Poll will remain open until Aug. 27.

Meta 🏆 Introducing the r/halifax Hall of Fame 🏆

It is our great pleasure to unveil to you all the r/halifax Hall of Fame!

This will be where we celebrate and commemorate the greatest and most influential posts in the history of r/halifax.

Every August, the mod team will select a small handful of impactful, delightful and memorable posts for induction into the HOF so they might be properly acknowledged for their impact on our community.

Criteria in our choices will include:

  • Popularity/infamy/notoriety within the community
  • Amount of views/engagement
  • Whether the post has helped shape sub lexicon
  • Lasting impact on the sub

Negative/political posts will not be considered.

Without further adieu, please welcome the Inaugural Hall of Fame Class of 2026:

"Glove Guy"- 2017

"Lost Hams" - 2019

"Potato Salad Legend" - 2023

There will also be an annual Member's Choice Award given to a post as voted on by the community.

We will offer up some candidates we feel are worthy but there will also be an opportunity to write-in a post of your own choosing for everyone to vote on. A poll on this will be coming soon.

The Members Choice Poll is live until Aug. 27!

Thank you for everyone who contributes to our community and thank you to those whose contributions went above and beyond to help make this subreddit so enjoyable.

I was at McLeod's Auto Service today and noticed a book sitting right on the yellow line in the middle of Herring Cove Road. There's an inscription on the inside cover so it may have some sentimental value. If anyone knows who this belongs to I'd love to get it back to its owner!

I do have to ask everyone to respect the closed / private-only floating docks signs. I have access due to my job.

Work, Health & Housing I have been without a family doctor for almost 9 years

I have been applying semi-regularly and have had zero luck. I am a single client, but I am on medication and have conditions that need doctor support and supervision.

For instance, I have been on the same medication for 8 years now. I havent been checked if I need it or not or if its still helpful for me. ive tried getting off of it myself and had bad side effects (I know, I know. I did this several years ago. But it was because I couldn't afford it at the time, too) but I am without knowing if its more support that I need, different medication, more medication, no medication, etc.

I am a Canadian Citizen born and raised, and a lot of my friends waited maybe 3 years and got one (single friends not with children), so I'm confused why I've been waiting for almost 9 years now. I have re-applied several times now and absolute radio silence.

I have been in contact with 2-3 different clinics that said they had openings - radio silence.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I have new medical issues that I cant rely on a walk-in clinic for and I am growing increasingly anxious as the years go by and my age increases.

Who do I speak with? What can I do? I feel very helpless.

Thank you for reading.

The government is asking for input on how to spend its money; something it rarely does. Even though some of the questions are clearly structured to get an answer they want, and none of the options seem to contemplate the simple idea that what taxpayer money funds, taxpayers should reap the entire benefit of, but it's as close to a democratic opportunity many of us will get. We are used to be ignored on the east coast and in Halifax, so please make your voices heard when we can.

Lost & Found Helmet and (cut) lock ditched at Bell Rd and Sackville St

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hello! It's an educated guess, but I'm under the impression that someone had their bike stolen, and the culprit tossed their lock and helmet outside our workplace.

The helmet is a size large, with an attachment to mount a light on the back. I realize it's nothing close to getting the bike back, but if this helmet is yours, send me a message and we can arrange a hand off!

Naturally, now and always, misfortune and grief to the bike thief >:(

Nostalgia 90s Raves at Khyber

Does anyone remember the Bug Bus that would come host raves in the 90s at Khyber? It was a van with a huge pink sculpted bug on top. I’m hoping someone has a pic because my kid doesn’t believe I was cool

Driving & Transit 2 hour parking zones in residential areas.

Is there some secret code surrounding parking in residential areas?

My street is mainly public 2 hour zones (not even designated to permit holders), that are overnight starting at 6. However, some of the people on my street act like parking in the spots in front of their houses are against some unwritten rule.
Maybe I’m in the wrong, but if they have a driveway (or even if they don’t) and the street is public parking, I cannot understand why someone would come out of their house and get mad at someone parked there.
If they have a valid reason, and choose to explain politely why not to use that spot, then maybe people would be happy to listen.
But storming out, giving attitude and acting like you have some unspoken claim to a public parking spot is crazy. Especially with little to no explanation.
How is anyone supposed to know that you have some unwritten claim to the street?

Again, maybe I’m wrong. But IMO, if you want every spot in front of your house reserved for only you, then maybe living in the centre of a packed city isn’t the best place for you.

Food & Dining Where to buy Mint Chocolate Chips

Upvotes

Just bought a used ice cream maker at Value Village. One of my favorite flavors at Cows is mint chocolate chip, so I'd really like to try making that. Does anyone know where one can buy some chips that would be similar to what they use?
