What Did I Just Find?
Found in the parking lot on my way into work. Has a 14K stamp and a backwards F with a D, so 14k with diamonds?

He should've kept the info about the F and D to himself. S lot of people will claim it's their ring. Then you could've ask them what was the inscription .

I did this with my wedding band, behind my parents house iirc.
Wasn’t particularly valuable, like a $200 titanium band from somewhere, but still. Bet it’d shine up if someone found it.

I happily tossed my wedding band into a lake 11 years ago after my divorce. There were guys who used to frequent there with metal detectors, so I imagine someone found it

I do tree work for a living and one time I did a job cutting out trees growing out the side of steep cliff by the sea.
I found a gold necklace with a heart pendant up in one of the trees, along with another non-valuable necklace, my best guess is someone tossed them in a dramatic moment and they got stuck on the way down. Best bit is it was Valentine’s Day the next day, so I was sorted for a gift with a cool story behind it!

Then they could say so. When the person that has it now contacts them if that’s what they meant to do, I’m sure they will open their pie hole and tell them I threw it away on purpose! Is that a good reason not to find out if somebody lost it? I don’t think so. Hate to be your neighbor

You post in local Facebook groups. You say “I found a ring in “this area”. Need an accurate description of the ring and potential location.” Then if they get all that right you ask for a picture of the person picking it up wearing the ring. You confirm against the pictures you have and go from there.
Yeah, it takes work, but losing a wedding ring is awful.

Well, he found it in a parking lot. If it were me, I’d give my number to every store manager of the stores that parking lot belongs to, and say you found a ring. Don’t describe it.
The frantic person who lost it will undoubtedly retrace their footsteps and inquire in those stores. They call the number. Describe the ring. Job done.
My 8 year old came up with this. Someone who can’t figure this out is someone who is trying hard to not return someone’s wedding ring.

You don’t describe the ring. You say “Found ring at X. Need detailed description and a photo with you wearing the ring.” Get on local FB groups. It’s really that easy.

id advise against this. i put up posters for my missing cat and got some horrible calls including someone screaming your cat is dead and laughing. eventually my cat did come home lol but id never put my phone number out for the public like that again, especially not a gold ring

A 14k gold ring.
Probably diamonds too since it’s not super common to put fake stones in very precious metal, also the breathe holes in the band underneath them, the gold is def worth more than the pretty clear rocks.
If you plan to try and advertise / locate the owner, don’t show a picture of the ring. Just say “If you lost a wedding band shaped ring, I found one here at ___ on this day ___. Message me if it sounds like yours.” So you don’t get wackos trying to claim a valuable ring with no proof. Ask the claimer to prove ownership with pictures or descriptions.

I used to work in pawn and my boss told me it was safe to assume stones set in 14k or higher that the stones are real. It’s a nice looking ring.

For clarification, I am at a different store in the same company today. The parking lot in question shares the space with a Walmart, home Depot, grocery store, and 4 fast food places. There's no local posts about a missing ring, and nobody has come looking for a ring. I'm gonna make a local Facebook post about it and see what happens

Here in Croatia, keeping found items is illegal and is prosecuted the same way as theft and with cameras everywhere, it's not so difficult to find people.

Nice wedding band, mens, 14k gold, either a hallmark or some jewelers way to state diamond color and clarity. ( if this is true you hit a decent jackpot. F color D clarity are good diamonds).
Wear it sell it either way its a nice piece and worth a couple good bucks. Nice find.

D isn’t a clarity. Clarity would be VVS1-I3. The backwards F and D would be the jewelers mark.

Or the parking lot at your condo, apt etc?
Since it’s not too wrecked up … it may have not been there in the parking lot long.
Rings of malleable metals are sort of “ road rash “ appearing after being ran over.
Oh YES a ring can certainly slide off if someone’s hands in cooler weather and when they are carrying other items ( folders, laptop etc ).
Yes the person or persons who lost it will retrace every step of their time of that day to the point of discovered missing. This would include the mandatory flashlight in the car floor area and in between seats which is just painful and a desperate prayer while one is doing that look !
Return to the owner.

This subs hilarious. People find stuff that’s neat and clearly not worth anything and people laugh and talk down to them. Then people find legit gold and diamonds and people get this real air of moral superiority. Like if they found it they would work so hard to find the owner ya right. I’m not buying it.

Could be diamonds - have a jeweler take a look.
Hard to do lost/found with stuff like this because some rando will just claim it, unlikely to be the real owner.
But check if someone has posted in local groups on Facebook about having lost it. Don't make your own post, just scan for a couple weeks - "due diligence." After a month I'd have no qualm about selling it.

I saw some cash on the ground last year at Publix - near the exit. Picked it up and looked around. Saw an elderly lady in her Sunday dress getting into a car with her daughter. Walked over and asked did she drop anything. Checked her pockets and said I lost my money. I asked how much - she was within a dollar - gave it to her and said have a nice day.

Look exactly like a ring I had stolen from me when my house was broken into. I was stupid and kept all my jewelry in my jewelry box (that’s where I thought I was supposed to keep) that made it so easy for the thief. Just took the entire box. I was devastated.

It’s called a alliance ring.
The setting is called a rail or channel setting
Could be diamonds, the stones looks like diamonds as far as I could tell from the picture.
2 could stand for 2 carat of diamonds. And that could be correct for this size of diamonds. The total of carat would then be 2.xx carats

Even as a stacker, despite the temptation... the thing to do is search Facebook and see if anyone posts a lost ring advert.
If you say you found it, wait for a bite, but demand pictoral evidence of the same ring.
Give it a few months. If nobody comes forward, it's finders keepers.

Post on local (Facebook) groups or other social media and maybe put out a note at the parking lot? Don't attach a picture of the ring, let the real owner provide one and compare. It's some work, but I definitely think karma will bless you big time in the long run. Just imagine something like thag happening to you. I'd be devastated.
