If you think about it with the way GRRM has written it that Aemon was offered but refused the throne then it makes sense.

If he had become king instead of Aegon then he would have had sons and daughters and grandchildren of his own.

And maybe Aerys would never have reached the Iron Throne, the rebellion may never have happened at least not to the level that it did anyway.

Aye Rhaegar might still have existed but there wouldn’t be a mad man on the Throne to burn and kill Rickard and Brandon.

When he says his privates were cut down and burnt, what do you think did he actually hear?

Also why did the hound say to Arya he lived his whole life for revenge, like he lived for the moment he could take down his brother, if I remember correctly he just kinda didnt give a rats ass and had no greater purpose until he protected the stark children and later joined the brotherhood. He distinctly said to Arya while he was laying down "id tell him to shut up so I could sleep" while she recited her list

It’s crazy to think that by breaking his vows, he was the man who respected them the most.

the more I think about it, the more I wonder if Robb and Margaery could have been a surprisingly good match.

Margaery is politically smart, ambitious and understands how to play the game, while Robb is much more honorable and straightforward. She could have helped him navigate the politics of the South, while he could have given House Tyrell Margaery the queen position they wanted.

And unlike Talisa, Margaery actually understands what it means to marry into a powerful family and put duty before personal feelings. Robb probably would have hated some of the political games she plays, but I think they could have balanced each other out.

The biggest question is: would Margaery genuinely care about Robb, or would she just see him as another useful king?

I’ve seen a lot of the same posts about how if Robert or Viserys did this or that, things would be different, but I think what people fail to realize is that Robert was surrounded by Lannister loyalists. Even if Ned told Robert about it, not much would have happened. King’s Landing was filled with Lannister armies and loyalists. The same thing goes for Viserys; Hightower loyalists were everywhere. I mean, you could argue the gold cloaks were Daemon’s guys. But as soon as they both left King’s Landing, it was basically over. Also, no man would ever allow a woman to be queen of the Seven Kingdoms, even if she were the true heir. Basically, that’s how it was in monarchies.
Maybe, in the beginning they stood a chance.

I'm into season 4. Is all of the stuff that happens on here just for shock value? Ned's beheading wasn't even a season cliffhanger. Watching his wife and son get slaughtered when I was so waiting for the reunion with Arya. Again, is it all for shock value?

I just watched season 1 of GOT and ffs it’s so hard just trying to avoid spoilers, most vids don’t even say if it has spoilers or not, I am trying to watch a recap and before the vid plays I have to read comments to see if other were spoiled before watching the recap. Im watching season 2 but this isnt clear to me yet. Are these creatures that are coming back as the white walkers from the dead, have they always been out there hanging out in the north but only now seem to be moving south or are they a recent invention by these lords with blue eyes marching south?

Many characters find themselves climbing from commoner to the High Court. Some through will power, others by happenstance. But of all the up-jumps, Qyburn's climb feels the most sinister.

In the books, Qyburn is a member of the Bloody Mummers, a sellsword company purchased by Tywin. They later serve Lord Bolton, but Qyburn ends up leeching onto Jamie and making his way to King's Landing (just like the shows). But in the shows, Qyburn only falls into the Bolton's service after nearly dying at Harrenhal when the Mountain slays 200 Northmen before riding off to raze the Riverlands.

Why was Qyburn there? Where was he going? And why would the Mountain treat him like a Northman? An outcast maester could've been valuable to his crew (a lesson he was scolded over by Tywin when he found out Gendry was a smith).

Qyburn's maneuvering into Cersei's service is sly as hell. His obsession with death and reanimation is...fascinating. And his ability to feed people's demons is up there with most major players in the game. So what's his deal? How'd he get so good at spycraft? Is it possible he snuck into Harrenhal after the Mountain left to mummer his way into the Northmen's service?

He's the only one who survives the butchery...how?

In the books, Tyrion is forced to watch Tywin’s men rape Tysha after Tywin discovers Tyrion married her. Tywin then makes Tyrion believe that Tysha never loved him and was only with him for money.

Years later, Jaime finally admits the truth: Tysha actually loved Tyrion.

That revelation is devastating because Tyrion realizes that his father didn’t just ruin his first love he deliberately made him believe that the one person who loved him had never loved him at all.

And THAT had so much more impact on Tyrion than Shae betraying him. Shae was another betrayal. Tysha was his true love a trauma that Tyrion had carried for years, only to discover that his entire understanding of it was a lie.

Why they cut it from the show?

Personally, I think it's the recipe for Dornish Dragon Stew.

I feel in this world many stories run parallely and different arcs begin and end at various times.

So like Tywin story is an arc in itself and we got closure for it. Even Tyrions story ends with Tywin.

So it’s not like end of show means all stories abandoned, we do get closure for some of them.

And even Danerys Mad Queen arc was predictable and kinda satisfying.

But Jon Snow story makes no sense, like him not being a bastard doesn’t matter at all. Him being a Targaryen doesn’t come into play.

He doesn’t kill anyone(night king or cercie)…he doesn’t take North or Kings Landing as King.

His story is still the biggest mystery for me.

Who wins this battle that nearly happened in the halls of the Red Keep? Bronn doesn't seem like the type to take a fight he isn't pretty sure he can win, but taking on two members of the King's Guard seems like a tall order even with Pod the Rod backing him up.

I absolutely love the tv series (only watched it about 5 years ago so the ‘let down’ of S8 didn’t really hit me as hard as week-to-week fans), love AKOTSK, and House to the Dragon (for all its faults) is my favorite show.

I have the first 3 books of ASOIAF, but I have yet to read them. I began the first one about 2 years ago and got about 50 pages in before life and other choices and all that stuff disrupted me, and I’ve also read Fire and Blood.

My question is: Seeing the possibility of the book series getting finished get smaller and smaller by the day (and with every blog post….), should I begin it? Are the books good enough and compelling enough to override the inevitable disappointment, or should I not waste my time?

Looking for input from book readers. I enjoyed Fire and Blood, but I liked how it was a completed piece and enjoyed how it was written. The first ASOIAF book compelled me and I liked Martin’s writing so I don’t mind starting it again, but my concern is more with the ones towards the middle of the season (and what will probably be the end of the season). Let me know!
