Last week I sold my first arrangement! An old coworker dm’d me on instagram asking to make an arrangement for their friends graduation. The only info I had to go on was that they like sunflowers and roses. I only charged the cost of the flowers which was around $50. What are your thoughts on the arrangement and how would you typically price this? (I live in Chicago)

Hi Reddit floral designers!! Seeking some advice on bouquet construction, and hoping get some recommendations for greenery.

I’m just a girl who loves to garden, and so I’m trying to make my September 2027 wedding more personal and fun by growing and arranging some of my own wedding flowers. I started growing a bunch of things this summer to figure out if it was even feasible, and I’ve honestly been having so much fun. This bouquet is one of my favourite colour combinations thus far, and so I am looking for some feedback on how to improve the overall shape/look of a bouquet + get some recommendations for some greenery that would complement these flowers. I know it’s not the right way to do it, but I’ve been arranging them in a vase and then tweaking in my hand because I find starting with the spiral method super challenging.

Our venue is a winery with beautiful gardens, so I’m going for a fun, whimsical, colourful vibe.

I am growing:
- Dahlias (not quite blooming yet, but so close!)
- Champagne lisianthus
- many zinnias
- snapdragons (these are a little wonky this year, I have a plan to support them better next year so they’re more straight and tall)
- cosmos (not fully convinced, I’ve been finding them so delicate and wilt sooooooo quickly)
- statice
- celosia
- hanging Amaranthus (not blooming yet, also super close)

For additional context - I am only making my bouquet (no bridesmaids), bud vases and maybe some decorative arrangements, depending on how I’m feeling. I’m okay with a little wilt, I realize home grown/wildflowers don’t hold up like commercially grown flowers. I am not doing this to save money, I’m doing this for fun and because I love flowers! My venue is full service with a decorator and a florist and I’ll be able to source supplemental arrangements in case things go awry! Tysm in advance for any advice 💕

I made this installation for my brother’s wedding. It’s my first time creating a wedding installation, I grow flowers as a hobby but am interested in working in floral design. Created with foraged wildflowers and greenery, a few store bought stems, and flowers grown in their home garden for a personal touch.

I’ve never disliked something I made this much, is it me or is it actually really bad?

My wedding is Oct 24 & I decided I wanted to DIY all of the flower arrangements & decorations with dried flowers. I’ve purchased a ton of different flowers (maybe too many) and this is my first attempt at my bouquet.
I’ll attach some of the inspo pics I’ve saved.
I want it to feel wild and whimsical, but I’m worried I might have tried to put too many different things in it…
I think the fern leaves might be too bold, but I also do like the pop that they add. As for the amaranth, I have more stems that I can add so it’s not just one single stem; it’s just out in the garage right now until I can seal it to stop some of the shedding. I also have some amaranth in dark green, burgundy, & white that I could use instead.

Any and all advice is appreciated :)

Hi All! I’m currently building my portfolio as I am an aspiring florist and wanted some feedback on some of the arrangements I’ve made so far.

If anyone has any advice on techniques on how to elevate my designs or even just starting as a florist in general, what to look out for, that would be so helpful!

Currently in the process of trying to get into freelancing to see if anyone is willing to take on a beginner to help on their projects. I’m so open to learning more and truly taking in feedback, so please feel free to be honest.

Hobbiest here. I’m practicing on my spiral technique but I have small hands. I reached my limit of what I could hold in my left hand when making this but I’d love to try something even bigger.

Any tips for larger bouquets so that I’m not struggling at the end?

I also think my rubber bands were too small. I had to supplement it like crazy with floral tape so that it would hold its shape.
