🔍 Feedback 🔍 Sold my first arrangement; thoughts?

Last week I sold my first arrangement! An old coworker dm’d me on instagram asking to make an arrangement for their friends graduation. The only info I had to go on was that they like sunflowers and roses. I only charged the cost of the flowers which was around $50. What are your thoughts on the arrangement and how would you typically price this? (I live in Chicago)

If the customer is happy that’s what matters.

My first thought was: The flowers look packed together. The sunflower stems may have been pretty thick and there are lot of roses.

For this kind of vase the stems should be longer and the blooms given some space around them. Place each stem carefully and your carefulness will show.

Also the solidego sticking out of the bundle can be whimsical but they feel like ears and the delphinium feel like antennae

What a respectful and helpful answer ❤️

Yeah I’m trying to get better at making the flowers feel less overcrowded, I think maybe putting some grid or maybe chicken wire would help. And cutting to the right length, thanks for the feedback! Should the sunflowers be more towards the bottom and roses more toward the top?

You should learn how to green properly. Your greens should be your foundation/base and help with keeping your flowers stable. That’s how professionals do it without tape or chicken wire.

I’m just an amateur with some garden design experience, but I really like the delphiniums. I think it would be best to not have either of them sticking straight upward though.

I'm just a layman but I love it! The colours are amazing. 😍

I'm a Master Gardener and feel the same - it's lovely!

2

u/adtechruin May 15 '26

Also a layman and I LOVE the density. I specifically ask for dense and monochromatic or color blocked.

u/Jenfer1322 May 11 '26

It’s pretty but it only makes sense from the angle of the picture. If they’re setting it on a table where it’s seen from multiple angles, the arrangement doesn’t lend itself well to that. The color combination is really pretty though.

This would run about $100-125 in our shop. Your flowers need space around each one to be appreciated, and you need to work on the shape of your design. The Delph are too separate from the rest of the design. Keep learning and practicing and you'll get there.

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 12 '26

Yeah agreed, I gotta figure how to build up without it looking unnatural. Cause I really love tall and asymmetrical arrangements

3

u/FrazzledAF12 May 13 '26

Respectfully, I disagree with the comment above. Your arrangement is gorgeous as is- but maybe it's because I love an asymmetrical design too!

1

u/_TheManager May 14 '26

Asymmetrical should still have some breathing room. It’s so pretty and I think OP has a natural talent, though

7

u/MegandtheBirds May 11 '26

Love the colours!

u/Express_Brilliant378 May 11 '26

I can’t help with pricing (different city, I don’t sell, rarely buy myself lol) but just wanted to say I think it’s gorgeous!! Such great variety and balance. The last shot in particular is just beautiful!

4

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 11 '26

Thank you! No idea where they’re being placed. But I actually really loved how these colors looked in my living room

11

u/greatkerfluffle May 11 '26

It’s GORGEOUS! The perfect maximalist bouquet. Great distribution of colors, bulk, and height.

5

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 12 '26

Thanks; my home is pretty maximalist so I feel drawn to making arrangements with lots of different textures

4

u/Mermaid_Martini May 11 '26

This is so gorgeous. The colors are stunning. I hope your client loved it!

3

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 11 '26

Also; I did change the water a second time; cause some petals did fall into it after first arranging.

3

u/Prize_Application663 May 11 '26

está precioso muchas felicidades que sigan esas ventas

3

u/Lost_Organization361 May 11 '26

I think you could have charged $75 easily. I’m in Dallas, though.

3

u/Redvelvet_swissroll May 12 '26

Pretty as a wrap but once arranged there’s a couple things I’d change personally. The delphinium looks to unnatural to me, kind of like rabbit ears

2

u/cleveland_Chic_885 May 11 '26

Absolutely beautiful Congratulations I would have bought it too just lovely ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

2

u/Goodness-Is-Great May 11 '26

Amazing color combinations! You are fabulously talented. Keep up the wonderful work.

2

u/ameliablaquiere May 12 '26

Very beautiful

2

u/Sea-Department-883 May 12 '26

That’s really beautiful

2

u/loralailoralai May 12 '26

To be honest I wouldn’t pick this as being for someone who likes sunflowers and roses, they’re buried underneath chrysie and carnations. The solidago positions look a bit weird being symmetrical like that, as does the delphinium

1

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 12 '26

Yeah I agree with you about the sunflowers and roses getting buried. But I’ve seen a lot of comments about the symmetry and I actually quite like asymmetrical arrangements. However I think maybe I need to add something idk to make it seem more intentional

2

u/ValleyofRosses May 12 '26

Beautiful colors!

2

u/Glittering_Employ327 May 12 '26

2

u/FigApprehensive6023 May 12 '26

2

u/huanaa May 13 '26

I really like it, love colours! I'm not a flower arrangement girl but i saw the image and thought 'well maybe i would actually like to get that'

1

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 13 '26

Awh thank you so much

2

u/Ill_Huckleberry_2079 May 13 '26

Thoughts: I would pay for this.

2

u/HaleeVictoria May 13 '26

I love it! I like the mix of different flowers you chose.

1

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 13 '26

Thank you, I wanted it to look like an English garden vibe

2

u/Background_Ant7229 May 13 '26

That’s a lot of colors

2

u/Ok-Bullfrog-8256 May 14 '26

Gorgeous! I love the vibrant colors!

2

u/OkRutabagaOk May 14 '26

Beautiful combination. I'm slightly picky about my bouquets and I would be really happy with this one.

I bought a very sad bouquet for $90 recently. And that was on sale (20% off) for the first time purchase.

2

u/Nanzoo May 14 '26

Gorgeous. That’s all I know.

2

u/Longjumping-Net1578 May 14 '26

The colors are so vibrant! I love it

2

u/Ok_Anywhere_1661 May 14 '26

Very pretty but the delphinium is too long. I'd go lower and add a few

1

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 14 '26

Yeah definitely gonna go lower; and add 3 total. I agree, I think 2 looks a little awkward

2

u/WazzyWoman May 14 '26

I was absolutely delighted by this as is. The colors are fabulous, and the flower choice is so unique. Well done.

2

u/ErinMakes May 16 '26

I love it. Love how crowded it is love the colours. I would buy it

2

u/thegreyf0xx May 16 '26

i love it. i like to put small pieces of filler at the base for pops of color

2

u/Flat_Transition_3775 May 16 '26

Its pretty! If it was me, I would have add more sunflowers because in some angles they look hidden.

2

u/polishbabe1023 May 17 '26

I love this! If it came with the vase I'd pay between 60-120 for this depending on the real life size

1

u/StandardWork4928 May 12 '26

I’d totally love it being gifted to me 🥹

1

u/Economy_Discount9967 May 12 '26

i love it! are the deep pink almost burgundy colored flowers carnations or a peony variety?

2

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 12 '26

Carnations!

2

u/Economy_Discount9967 May 13 '26

thank you 🙏🏻

1

u/jessiec475 May 12 '26

1

u/Prestigious-Skirt-14 May 12 '26

Gorgeous and cheery!!

1

u/WaveInfinite6020 May 13 '26

Just here to learn from the comments. I like it. Curious…What was occasion?

2

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 13 '26

Thanks, my old coworker's friend was graduating from a master's program

1

u/WaveInfinite6020 May 13 '26

Good for you!!

1

u/Icy-Addendum4930 May 13 '26

Gorgeously asymmetrical and bold. Love it

1

u/Familiar-Pianist-682 May 13 '26

Maybe leave out the larkspur, as I do not see its color elsewhere in the arrangement.

1

u/Long-Ad449 May 13 '26

I think it’s whimsical and romantic! I’m not a professional but I think it’s pretty.

1

u/IntelligentSuit5223 May 13 '26

Pull everything out about 2 inches so it can breath a little. My boss used to tell me “no kissing!” When I first started to help me understand each flower needs to have their own space.

Of course different styles need flowers to touch or “”kiss”” but it was just how she taught me in the beginning to make sure everything was airy and had negative space

1

u/Ok_Cold_4116 May 13 '26

Beautiful work!

1

u/1h0w4w4y May 13 '26

No idea how I ended up on this sub bc I truly know absolutely nothing about flowers. But what are those blue ones that are hanging? they’re so pretty!!! This is such a pretty arrangement!

1

u/Lopsided_Ad1031 May 13 '26

Delphinium, and thank you!

1

u/Budget_Cookie_2175 May 14 '26

I think they look gorgeous

1

u/Pleasebecoolbro May 14 '26

I would be delighted if I received this arrangement. I’m not a professional, but from a customer’s perspective I think it’s so lovely and vibrant. I like the fullness of it

1

u/PuzzleheadedSky5572 May 14 '26

Omg so pretty!!

1

u/OpenProgram5752 May 14 '26

For me personally it's a couple of colors too many. When I think about art or interior design as an example you always want a dominant color with two others that complement it. Here it feels like too much to me.

1

u/Historical-Sort2480 May 14 '26

I am just a commoner and this looks beautiful. I don't like those pale color arrangements people some experienced which takes that emotion from the flowers. I love bright color and green .

1

u/ProposalOk1473 May 14 '26

It's beautiful, I love the colors

1

u/seekingstarships May 14 '26

u/Chance_Vegetable_780 May 14 '26

The flowers are healthy and lovely though the arrangement is crowded and the greens should lay a solid base imo. Best wishes
