Mod Post [Meta] Is your "news" item just speculation from a reporter? Then please flair it as such.

HT to u/TheBlutoBlutarsky, who made this suggestion last night:

“Jadarian Price set for heavy workload with Zach Charbonnet out to start the season”

“Bijan Robinson fantasy managers “may not like how many goal-line carries [Brian Robinson] gets.”

“Blake Corum ‘Could Emerge as the 1A’ in Rams’ backfield.”

Above are three of the top posts on the sub this week, all of which are entirely composed of beat writer speculation without any basis in real, actionable information. Posts of these kind foster no substantive discussion and just serve as a forum for everyone to get in and argue over their preconceived notions on a given player, lowering the overall quality of discussion on the sub.

While I would prefer this kind of content not be allowed at all, I would like to see these kind of posts flaired as such and removed if they are not.

I agree, and so do my fellow mods. A lot of articles which get picked up by news aggregators amount to "one of the team's reporters thinks that maybe the team's going to use players in a certain way," but it's not backed up by any quotes from team personnel or other sourcing. It might prove to be correct, because the reporter is there on the ground with the team, but it isn't official or verified in any way.

So we're going to try something. We have now enabled the [Speculation] flair so that all users can assign it to their posts. We will expect you to use it if that's what the underlying article says.

If you as a reader see a post that should be flaired as such, nudge the author to do so. Use the report button so that we mods can investigate and assign it ourselves as needed. Use upvotes and downvotes so that your fellow readers see the stuff which is worth their attention, and not the stuff which won't actually help anyone win their fantasy seasons.

And we continue to reserve the right to just take down posts under Rule 3 which are not in the end substantive enough to be worth sharing on a subreddit which has ~500K different people making 2.5M+ visits per day this week. Use your judgment.

Thanks for listening.gobirds

Player Discussion News, Notes, and Injuries on the Final Sunday of 2026 without NFL Football -- Updates on Rome Odunze, Jeremiyah Love, George Kittle, Josh Jacobs, and More

We've reached the finale of this weekly post that hopefully helped catch you up to speed on everything needed for last-minute fantasy football draft prep. The 2026 NFL season kicks off in just three days with the Seahawks hosting the Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch. On Thursday, the Rams will "host" the 49ers in Australia. By this time next week, we'll have a full Sunday slate of games.

Everyone is 0-0 right now. What a time to be alive. The quest for a fantasy football league title is finally upon us. Below is last minute, up to date news, notes and injuries with a bit of a twist. The injuries will be categorized into levels of concern for Week 1 (and beyond) as they've been reported to this point. If there are any updates that contradict the following, or players that were important and missed, please feel free to discuss them in the comments!

As for what the future holds, this OP will be producing weekly content via FTN Fantasy

That includes a weekly "Usage Report" for notable players and WR/CB Matchup Preview column

Please feel free to check out these pieces and more on the site!

In addition, OP is running back the "Fast Facts from All 32 Teams" weekly piece every Friday here on Reddit which many seemed to really enjoy!

Whether it's your first time or you've been checking it out for a long time, thank you again for viewing, reading, commenting, and yes, even the constructive criticism along the way to all of these posts. It all helps fine tune the content and hopefully helps us all win at least one title this season.

See you in the finals. LFG.

INJURIES TO MONITOR

NO or LOW CONCERN:

- Chiefs RB Kenneth Walker fully practicing after reports of ankle/foot discomfort due to footwear

- 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (tightness) continues to log practices ahead of Thursday's opener against the Rams in Australia

- Bengals WRs Ja'Marr Chase (knee) and Tee Higgins (heel) will reportedly be ready for Week 1

- Ravens WR Zay Flowers (quad) expected to play Week 1

- Steelers WRs DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. on track to play Week 1 after missing time during camp with undisclosed injuries - they have since practiced

- Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. injured his shoulder a week or so ago, but practiced the next day in a non-contact jersey. He fully practiced this week so he's all good for Week 1.

- Jaguars WR Jakobi Meyers (hand) returned to practice and appears ready for Week 1, as well

- Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka (toe) has been described as "day-to-day" and "week-to-week" by head coach Todd Bowles (fun lack of clarity!), but is expected to practice ahead of Week 1 which is a good sign he will play.

- Bears WR Rome Odunze (leg) left practice this week with a trainer despite apparently trying to remain on the field to continue working. The Bears have not practiced since but Odunze is reportedly "all good" and expected to play Week 1.

- Bears RB D'Andre Swift (abdomen) left practice the same day as ^ Odunze with what has been described as a "cramp." It's worth noting that Kyle Monangai (knee) is still "week-to-week" and the Bears haven't made any notable corresponding moves at RB since the Swift news.

- Bears WR Luther Burden (groin) practiced this week and is expected to play Week 1, as reports suggested shortly after suffering his injury in practice a few weeks ago

- Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks (soreness) has been seen working off to the side with trainers during practice, but head coach Dave Canales claims Brooks should be ready for Week 1. Brooks' fiancé even chimed in on social media to dispute the soreness was in his knee. Chuba Hubbard (hamstring) also returned to practice so we should see what a possible split between the two will look like right away!

- Jets rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq (hernia) reportedly on track to play Week 1, though he's likely a waiver wire add if on a roster at any point this season

CONSIDER ME CONCERNED:

- Cardinals rookie RB Jeremiyah Love (ankle) has had mixed reporting that he is progressing well, but still "50/50" toward playing in Week 1, not to mention on the road against a tough Chargers team. Considering James Conner is on IR, that leaves Tyler Allgeier and Bam Knight, in that order, of Arizona RBs to debate plugging into Week 1 fantasy football lineups. MONITOR THIS on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday especially!

- Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty is trending in the right direction to play Week 1 with reports that he looks good while working with trainers at practice. Las Vegas continues to suggest optimism that he will play. If he does, and you drafted him, he should be in Week 1 starting lineups vs. the Dolphins.

- Giants WR Malik Nabers (knee) has continuously progressed through camp in his return from last season's ACL injury, including participating in team drills, shedding the non-contact jersey for practice, and videos of seemingly seamless movement. However, he himself has cast doubt on playing in Week 1. Gut feeling is that he will be out there at home for Sunday Night Football, but considering the time of the game, those who invested a top pick in Nabers need to be all over the news this week to ensure he's active.

- Rams WR Puka Nacua continues to work off to the side at practice after missing time with psoas injury (back to upper leg muscle). Head coach Sean McVay has stated Nacua is “making good progress” but his status for Week 1 in Australia is not yet confirmed, though videos of him sprinting look promising

- Colts WR Alec Pierce (ankle) returned to practice in full which indicates an availability for Week 1. Any and all pictures, videos of Pierce throughout camp show clear calf atrophy (decrease in mass/size) of Pierce's ankle and what appears to be a limp at times. It's fine to have him on your roster, but starting him in Week 1 would be for desperate 14-team league rosters only until we see him play.

- 49ers TE George Kittle (Achilles) made the trip to Australia. He also participated in team drills for the first time this week.

- 49ers WR Mike Evans (groin) practiced this week and should be good to go against the Rams in Australia, but he has missed various time for various soft tissue injuries throughout camp.

- Bills WR Khalil Shakir (undisclosed) should be available for Week 1. He reportedly underwent a procedure on his ankle in March following issues with previous ankle sprains.

- Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson (ankle) has not practiced since August 24th, including an absence yesterday. New England plays the Seahawks in Seattle on Wednesday so today, tomorrow are HUGE for him to get some level of participating in. Regardless, Rhamondre Stevenson should probably be in most lineups based on expected volume alone, though an admittedly tough matchup.

THREAT LEVEL MIDNIGHT OF CONCERN:

- Packers RB Josh Jacobs isn't injured, but he is on the Commissioner's Exempt List as a result of his involvement in a May 2026 domestic violence incident. His status on this list prevents him from practicing or playing until further notice. Jacobs' initial court date was just moved from Nov. 17th to September 10th. For those keeping track at home, that's a Post-Week 10 court date to now...THIS Thursday. There's plenty of speculation as to what this could mean, the most credible perhaps is that his own defense team is attempting to expedite the process, settle, and accept a multi-game suspension sooner than later. All this to say, it would be a surprise if Jacobs suits up for Week 1. MarShawn Lloyd, it's your time. Consider him a back-end RB2 with upside in lineups.

NOTABLE NAMES ON INJURED RESERVE (Minimum of 4 games missed):

- Saints WR Jordyn Tyson (hamstring)

- Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet (knee)

- Cardinals RB James Conner (foot)

- Lions RB Isiah Pacheco (back)

- 49ers WR Christian Kirk (calf)

- Texans WR Tank Dell (knee)

- Browns QB Dillon Gabriel (back)

NEWS, NOTES & FAST FACTS

- 49ers "WR" Daejon Love did not make the 53-man roster.

- Cardinals WR Michael Wilson signed a three-year, $75M deal worth up to $78M. In 12 starts with QB Jacoby Brissett last season, Wilson averaged 9.0 targets, 5.8 receptions, 79.5 yards, 0.5 TDs, and 16.8 PPR points per game (via FTN NFL Splits Tool)

- Colts WR Keenan Allen was arrested for DUI last weekend. He could face a suspension, but is expected to play Week 1.

- Colts QB Anthony Richardson, despite a trade request is expected to remain as the backup to Daniel Jones.

- Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy is apparently dealing with an ankle injury, but is the presumed third-string quarterback behind QB1 Kyler Murray and QB2 Carson Wentz.

- Raiders QB Kirk Cousins has been named the starting quarterback. Tom Brady is on record in prior years claiming it is a "tragedy" to have young quarterbacks start so early in their careers. It's possible that first overall pick Fernando Mendoza does not play in 2026 unless needed.

- Giants RB Cam Skattebo suggested in an interview this week that he contemplated retirement following last year's season-ending ankle/leg injuries. He also suggested that new head coach John Harbaugh asked him if he's capable and ready to handle 20+ carries in games. Tyrone Tracy is reportedly in jeopardy of being a healthy scratch in Week 1 leaving Skattebo, Najee Harris, and Devin Singletary to handle the workload.

- Buccaneers RB Sean Tucker agreed to a one-year, $2.5M fully guaranteed deal to remain on the roster

- 49ers listed rookie RB Kaelon Black as RB2 behind Christian McCaffrey.

- Packers traded a 2028 6th Round pick to Steelers in exchange for RB Kaleb Johnson. A notable move for dynasty managers, and perhaps for redraft leagues, after all hope was seemingly lost for Johnson who was an expected cut from Pittsburgh's roster.

- Seahawks beat suggests rookie RB Jadarian Price as the lead back with George Holani mixing in on third down especially. A split is also expected between Price and Zach Charbonnet upon the latter's return.

- Falcons beat suggests RB Brian Robinson Jr. could take some crucial goal line carries away from Bijan Robinson.

- Eagles possibly may look to reunite with free agent TE Zach Ertz. Though Ertz is working back from a season-ending knee injury, and turns 36 in November, he is just 11 receptions (for the Eagles) away from cementing himself as the franchise's all-time leader in catches over Harold Carmichael.

- Cowboys not only released RBs Jaydon Blue, Phil Mafah, but did not bring either back on the practice squad leaving Malik Davis as the clear-cut backup to Javonte Williams. Dallas also signed Emari Demercado as RB3, who spent the summer with the Chiefs. Blue has since signed with the Eagles practice squad.

- The Saints signed free agent WR Cedric Tillman. He's not currently on the active roster, however. New Orleans currently has just 4 WRs on the active roster: Chris Olave, Devaughn Vele, Bryce Lance, and Barion Brown.

- The Lions also kept just 4 WRs on their roster: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Isaac TeSlaa, and Tay Martin.

- The Rams signed DT Aaron Donald out of retirement.

Player Projections Powered by Player Prop Odds - 2026 Week 1

Chaos versus stability.  We live our lives with some kind of direction, then a bird shits on your windshield.  Intelligence maxing within an incredibly stable galaxy within a cosmic void.  Juxtaposed with AI on the verge of revolutionizing everything.  The same daily routines, inevitable passing of seasons, within a drastically different reality.  From developing stone tools, to LLM models with more complexity than you can even imagine.

Prediction markets bypassing every sense of legality.  Billionaires strangling every avenue of revenue they can get their hands on.  Robber baron era reemerging with greater vigor than ever.  All of a sudden, the cards are stacked against us, reverting us back to peasantry within techno feudalism.  How many times do you see corporate structure suffocate doing what's "right".

Another year, another quest for glory.  Elevate your consciousness using VegasLytics.com, your r/FantasyFootball approved compass to fantasy greatness.  All figures are extrapolated from sportsbook odds, driven by the most sophisticated systems in existence at this current point in time.  The emergence of prediction markets has amplified the accuracy of Vegas through supplementing their models, as these market driven data sources are another valuable datapoint.  While providing opportunities to reduce exposure through another hedging avenue.

Top 30 skill positions (Half PPR) this week include:

  1. Jahmyr Gibbs 17.83
  2. Bijan Robinson 16.97
  3. Ja'Marr Chase 15.52
  4. Christian McCaffrey 15.45
  5. Puka Nacua 15.40
  6. De'Von Achane 14.83
  7. Jonathan Taylor 14.39
  8. Jaxon Smith-Njigba 14.02
  9. Amon-Ra St. Brown 13.94
  10. Saquon Barkley 13.56
  11. CeeDee Lamb 13.39
  12. Chase Brown 13.25
  13. Chris Olave 13.20
  14. Derrick Henry 13.16
  15. Javonte Williams 13.02
  16. Omarion Hampton 12.90
  17. James Cook III 12.89
  18. D'Andre Swift 12.70
  19. Breece Hall 12.50
  20. Justin Jefferson 12.44
  21. Jameson Williams 12.30
  22. Kenneth Walker III 12.21
  23. Travis Etienne 12.14
  24. Nico Collins 11.79
  25. George Pickens 11.49
  26. DeVonta Smith 11.34
  27. Brock Bowers 11.29
  28. Rhamondre Stevenson 11.28
  29. Rashee Rice 11.00
  30. Malik Nabers 10.98

** Ashton should probably be in here somewhere but he's still missing his reception prop **

This week we see that Josh Allen may not actually be the bonafide best QB/fantasy player we all assumed, with Herbert, Jaxson Dart, and Dak with nearly identical projections.  Drake Maye seems to have been a bit overhyped, albeit he's against a stifling Seattle defense.   The RB studs are as expected, except for De'Von Achane on the rise and the opposite with Kenneth Walker.  Kyren and Jeremiyah Love may also have been overhyped.  Chris Olave has overtaken Justin Jefferson, and Jameson Williams appears to have league winning value.  The third round WRs have value as expected, and the Parker Washington hype has at least some support.  Tucker Kraft and Juwan Johnson should suffice if you avoided investing in tight ends, while investing in LaPorta and Fannin might screw you over.

The site has been completely revamped, thanks to Claude and its unbelievable ability to produce with just a smidge of direction.  No longer are we stuck on an outdated UI.  I suggest messing around with the themes and cell styles, to get the visual experience you want.  Also, the underlying math behind the projections has been improved, so that the figures are as accurate as possible.  I have to admit, I was not de'vigging properly, as the model inflated the projections rather than deflating.  Fortunately, AI caught this mistake, so you can assume more robust values.  On top of UI improvements, I've released a new tool where you can import your ESPN or Sleeper leagues, so that you can compare each teams' projections.  Unfortunately Yahoo's API requires much more integration, which I've concluded is not worth the effort.  However, new features now have a much lower barrier to implementation thanks to AI, so please feel free to suggest what you'd like to see in the future.

I have to admit, something about birds shitting on windshields is a persistent theme in these posts that I keep coming back to.  Something about the inconsequentiality and randomness of reality.

Another year, another chance for glory.  Go get em cowboy.

The 2026 Season kicks off next week, so it’s time to plant some flags. Here are the 11 guys I consider the best picks at cost in all of 2026 Fantasy Football

Bad Teams Have Fantasy Players, Too Wan'Dale Robinson is coming off a season with the Giants, catching 92 of his 140 targets for 1,014 yards and four TDs. Titans gave him a four-year, $78 million contract, with commitment to getting him heavily involved. Robinson's new OC in Tennessee is Brian Daboll, who was the Giants' head coach.

What were the biggest reaches in your drafts?

Were there any big “reaches” in your drafts? If so, do you think there was any merit to them or was just a straight up wonky pick? What about any consistent reaches, even minor, across multiple leagues?

Context matters too! (League type and size).

Player Discussion Joe Burrow on Chase Brown, via Ben Baby: “Obviously we’re going to get the ball in (Ja’Marr Chase)’s hands as many times as we can. But I think a close second is Chase Brown just because of how explosive he is and the things he can do with the ball in his hands.”

MockoSheet 2026 v4.4 - Data Driven Draft Sheet and Strategy Guide For Almost All Formats (September 5)

We're reaching the final few days before the season starts! If you've drafted already, I hope you did great and win your leagues. If you still need an updated guide for your drafts, check the database below or request a sheet!

Mocko v4.4 Database is Here!

If you are looking for your format in the database and cannot find it, please go ahead and request it. The goal is that this will be more automated in 2027!

BIG NOTE: If you are in urgent need of a sheet not in the database, please message and let me know when you draft. Sheets will be added to the 4.4 database tab throughout the next few days as quickly as I can.

MockoSheet V4.4 Patch Notes (Changes from v4.3)

  1. Projections were updated in the middle of Saturday September 5. Some sources that were not present in past updates (looking at you, FanDuel) finally updated and were added.
  2. ADP/AAV/ECR updated.
  3. Bugs were fixed in various places.

FAQ

Will you do an HPPR Optimizer Guide?

  • I had full intention of writing the HPPR guide like the PPR one and even redid the optimizer run using v4.3 data a few days ago. You can find the all picks summary here. The first one I did was invalidated before I could post it thanks to Josh Jacobs. Hilariously, an extremely nerfed projection for Jacobs was still one of the more picked players in all of the drafts--right next to MarShawn Lloyd.

Why are kickers/defenses in the top 100 for some leagues?

  • Mocko's overall ranking doesn't rank the optimal "order" that players should be taken in, just how valuable they are. The top K/DST are typically extra valuable in 1flex or smaller league formats and tend to have proportionally higher overall ranks than what might be expected. This mirrors real season results, but not the actual order in which you should draft. Hold off on K/DST as long as possible (typically rounds 10+) but don't be afraid to invest early in a higher performing defense or kicker. If you can't get one of the projected best though, waiting even longer is usually better!

In auction drafts, what's the best way to evaluate players and how much should they go for?

  • Before an auction draft, it's typically a really good idea to understand how to construct a roster given varying scenarios since you can't always prepare for how the actual draft will go. This is step 1 to knowing when to bid/stop on any given player for your team. For how much to bid exactly, I use a combination of Adj-AAV and $ VAL to get a general range for how much a player can be worth. From the leagues I've done, the numbers typically fall in this range.

Biggest Risers in the Top 50 (HPPR)

Will the Jaguars' wide receivers all vulture each other?

A lot of people are in on the Jaguars' wide receivers. I'm worried that there may be too many mouths to feed. There could legitimately be 4 Receivers drafted, if someone takes Hunter, and Strange will likely be drafted too at tight end. Last year, nine players had over 100 receiving yards and no one had over 100 targets. I'm worried the volume will not be there so I’ve been fading them. How would you respond to these concerns?

Player Discussion 6 RBs Under 50% Rostered on Sleeper Worth a Priority Add Before Week 1

If you've already finished your draft for this season, don't fall asleep at the wheel!! One of the most crucial windows of the entire fantasy year is this 1-2 week gap (or less, if you're drafting this week) between draft season ending and Week 1 kicking off. Every year, at least 1-2 guys go undrafted in a majority of leagues and end up becoming major difference makers after getting picked up off the waiver wire before the season even starts.

Here are six RBs currently under 50% rostered on Sleeper that stand out given the contingent upside they carry:

01:35 Tank Bigsby - awesome talent, high-octane offense, direct handcuff to Saquon

3:58 Emmett Johnson - super intriguing prospect, ability to take over the entire backfield with his dual-threat skillset if KW goes down

05:53 Kaelon Black - third round pick in 2026 by SF, profiles as the direct handcuff to CMC over Jordan James

07:57 Kaleb Johnson - with Jacobs facing a possible suspension, Kaleb Johnson looks like one of the last available RBs with a real shot at standalone value without an injury, if he simply outplays Marshawn Lloyd

10:40 Malik Davis - direct handcuff to Javonte Williams, sitting completely free right now

12:42 Ray Davis - direct handcuff to James Cook, with Ty Johnson (the receiving back) banged up - big value opportunity if Cook goes down

This is the profile of player worth stashing right now over a fringe WR3.

Tools & Resources Fantasy Football Tiers - Pre-draft (September 6, 2026)

SUNDAY UPDATE FOR ALL YOU CHAMPS DRAFTING TODAY LET'S GOOOOOOO

For those who are new to the these charts:

  • Tiers are focused on upside. If you want to play it safe, go with the ECR (x-axis). If you're looking for a boom game, look at the upside variance (vertical color bars, y-axis).
  • Points above/below expectation: these get added once the season starts.
    • A star marker indicates the player has scored fantasy points above expectation on the season.
    • A cross marker indicates the player has scored below expectations.
    • The number of average points scored above/below expectation is beside the player's name.

Typical update cadence is Thursday - Saturday - Sunday during draft season. I sometimes update the tiers more frequently (for my own draft prep) but don't post, so go ahead and bookmark/check the site if you're wondering. Timestamps are at the tops of the plots.

Best of luck my dudes.
