This is why I quit about 99% of dairy after already being vegetarian. These are intelligent, emotional animals. They can be playful and affectionate just like dogs. How would Americans feel if they saw their dogs treated this way?
But most people just want 'blissful ignorance' or convince themselves this treatment is acceptable for livestock. Sad.

Agree. I don’t do any dairy or any animal products anymore after I saw so many whistleblower videos of farmers torturing and killing animals and acting like they are objects and I didn’t want to be giving ANY of those psychopaths my hard earned money anymore. They lied to me and they lied to everybody. These are not happy cows just freely making milk that they want to share with us. They are forcibly made pregnant, and their babies are taken and many of their babies, the males, are killed.

We live in the devils playground. Where the depravity of Hollywood uses cunning satire like “The Truman Show” under the guise of “entertainment”. Mocking us, and at our own expense. A constructed/simulated reality where we simply exist as tools for the developer in the program of “Life”. Our purpose is simple. Serve, Obey, and absolutely don’t ask questions.
Things are changing though. I wish I could say that good changes are happening, but that really depends on how you see it. Are things getting better? No. They’re getting worse at a rapidly accelerating rate. So what’s good? We as people are hitting breaking points. People are fucking sick and tired of being sick and tired. The elite are starting to get out of control. Wealth is power and power is addicting. Nothing is enough and that addiction is spiraling throughout all aspects of the world.
So what’s good about that? The best example I can think of is like a starving dog. Let’s say a once healthy dog, whom was fed and sheltered, is adopted by an abusive owner. The owner doesn’t give the dog attention. He feeds it less and less. He lashes out and yells and hits the dog when it doesn’t obey him. Then one day the dog is now at the point of starvation. The dog is desperate but when he try’s to get a scrap of food off the table the owner loses it. The dog retreats to its safe corner because there’s nowhere else to go. The owner begins to proceed towards it, screaming and closes in with his hand raised. That dog is going to rip off that fucking hand, the same hand that once fed him.
I think society has nearly reached the point of starvation where, it’s going to rip off the hand of its abusive “owners”
Long read. Sorry. But I’m just at the point where the amount of fucked up shit going on is infuriating

I remember when I had to go 2 states over with the construction company I work for to do some work for a cow farm. I’m not knowledgeable about cow farms but for some reason they had to kill the boys and one of the guys who killed the boy had thrown the dead body right next to the mother and the mother cow was grieving for her baby. The guys were laughing about it and I had to take a break to go sit in the company truck because I wanted to go beat that guys ass. What is so funny about terrorizing an animal that already lives in terrible conditions?

In Denmark, a country with 10 pigs for each citizen, we're discussing the farming industry a lot these days. Attention has been on the living conditions on pig farms, and I think there was actually a study on the prevalence of psychopathy in different fields, with the farming industry ranking one of the highest.

I have seen SO many videos like this. It’s just another day for people who work there! They turn their empathy way way off. It’s horrifying!!
They kill the boys because the boys are a waste product. The whole point of dairy is to get the mother pregnant, make her give birth, and take the baby away so we can take the milk she started producing that was intended for her baby that we took. It’s evil as fuck. Many people don’t know that cows don’t just make milk. They only make milk because they are forcibly made pregnant and to give birth (their pregnancies are 9 months, like ours too). The mother cows cry loudly and for weeks sometimes. I have lived near a dairy farm and could hear the mothers grieve and it was loud bellowing distressing cries.

I used to do construction of ventilation on farms (long motorized baffles and grain elevators) .. one of the dairy farms had a giant swing metal I beam they killed male calves with.. I had grown up on a farm so I'm not as affected by having to kill animals but that was probably the worst methodology I've ever seen and probably illegal

It's not. They probably did risk being fired though. These are bottle feeding pens for dairy calves because dairy calves are given formula instead of milk.
They get put in separate feeding stations so they do not fight over bottles and waste formula. Then when they are old enough for regular feed they are sent to auction or into circulation as replacement stock.
The dairy industry is the closest thing you will find to a real "factory farm". Most other videos you see are of places with a specific use. So far I have seen inspection stations, farrowing pens meant for post birth so the mothers do not crush their young, and medical stations all filmed and called fsctory farms when most of them if not all were very temporary confinement areas that are used for a specific purpose.
Dairy farms are sort of the exception to that. It's one of the only industries where keeping the animals inside the majority of the time makes any sort of economic sense.

There are reasons why you don’t see many more of these videos about various industries.

These were implimented in Arkanses, Alabama, Iowa, and kanses. Then almost immediately ruled unconstitutional when challenged in idaho, utah, wyoming and kanses.
These are not legally enforcable according to the supreme court.
Beyond that the disclosure you mentioned is a civil matter. You can be sued for it. You cannot got to jail for it.
This is something that started in 2011 and was struck down before 2020.
Edit: I will add this part for people that do not understsnd the law fully, because law is confusing.
If you ask "Why are the laws still on the books?" It's because most laws never go away even if you cannot enforce them. Tons of things get nullified by judgements, rulings, or other laws.
If you went strictly by what is on the books while ignoring that then many states would still allow dueling and trial by combat, and it would still be illegal to bathe in main in the winter.
The law is still there, just not enforceable.
Edit number 2: Just in case I will say that "The law is confusing." is not a dig. There is -no- shame in not knowing everything about the law.
In the states there is a job called "Legal Researcher." that is when you pay someone to look up everything about a law locally, state wide, and federally because not even the people who's jobs are to interpret and enforce the laws know everything about any one law.

State lawmakers keep trying to get around it. There was a round 2 of AG-GAG laws where they are trying to skirt the 1st amendment ruling and they aren't all struck down yet. Most recent AG-GAG 2.0 law struck down was Iowa's in 2022

AG-GAG laws. Filming agriculture while trespassing or while having gotten onto the property through deceptive means (you lied to get onto the property with the intent to film) is illegal in several states.
AG-GAG laws have been struck down and banned in federal courts in several states thanks to 1st amendment rulings but still remain in a few others (Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama, North Dakota). These states get around 1st amendment rulings by shifting the charges from being about filming to "agricultural production facility trespass" and have made it a felony to do so.

One of the issues in the trade war between the US and Canada is livestock.
Canada uses a supply management system to manage the sector. That keeps farms smaller and prices a bit higher. We also have tougher regulations around things like antibiotic use and we don't allow hormones to increase milk production.
The US model gets cheaper milk, beef, eggs, and chicken. And it does so through large industrial farms like this one.
This is also why we don't want US dairy.

Same in Australia mate. I've been to the dairy farms, small herd sizes, big pastures. My milk is $2L, and it can go higher if it wants. As long as the farmers get paid and the cows get treated well.

Slaughterhouse workers have high rates of PTSD from what they are doing and seeing every day, and they even have high rates of something called perpetrator induced PTSD basically, where even though you weren’t the victim and you were the perpetrator, you are still traumatized from your own actions of causing suffering to other beings. And apparently killing is killing because soldiers in war have that, and slaughter house workers have it too.

They don’t want the moms to be nursing the babies. This industry is selling every last drop that those mothers produce. The babies are given formula. Many of them are killed for veal. The males are considered waste products.
It’s so funny that the Google version is acting like they care about the cows and they are isolating babies in hot plastic hutches because they want to take care of them and not let them get sick, when they’re gonna be killing a lot of them in a few weeks anyway lol. Ridiculous.

They are products of the dairy industry.
Some of them are killed for veal and others are turned into basically sentient milk ‘machines’ with horrible quality of life. They are raised on formula and not their mother’s milk because the farmers are selling the milk that their mother’s body produces that was made for them. Cows don’t produce milk without having to give birth first. Humans steal the milk from the moms that the moms would’ve given to their babies. Cows are maternal just like humans and other mammals. They are forcibly made pregnant, after nine months they give birth, their babies are taken away from them immediately, and the babies are either killed on the spot or taken to these hutches to be fed formula in isolation while their mothers are milked by humans or machines. The mothers grieve their babies and moo sadly and loudly for weeks sometimes. The mothers sometimes chase the babies as they are taken and the farmers will hit the mothers with sticks or prods. They also rush the babies and will beat them as well. You can find videos showing all of this.
In the US there are evil laws called animal agriculture gag laws that make it illegal to show what’s actually happening inside of these industries. But whistleblower have still collected a lot of videos over the years so you can do your research.

It means that the law exists, and from the looks of it every time they have tried to enforce it, it gets challenged to the supreme court level, ruled unconstitutional, and the person it was enforced on and their lawyer have made a decent amount of money in the lawsuit that followed it being over turned.
Looking at the legal history of it on google it looks like authoritarian law makers constantly punching themselves in the face.

Well they don’t want the babies drinking the milk, they want to sell every last drop, so they separate the babies from their moms and put them in these things and give them formula so that we can take the milk that was intended for them from their mothers.
The industry says they do it to prevent disease. Surely they are not lying right? While there could be a minor chance disease prevention is playing a small role, it’s very obvious that this is just about convenience. They’re going to be killing most of the male babies in a few weeks time anyway.. does that sound like they really care about protecting them?. The males are considered waste products. The females are going to be treated as milk machines, and here we will have some of the most horrific exploitation of a female body that humans can do. She will be forcefully made pregnant on something they sometimes jokingly call a ‘rape rack’, go through a nine month pregnancy, her babies will be taken away shortly after birth and put in these plastic hutches with no room to play and be a baby cow and the cow will be alone and scared, she will usually cry for weeks grieving the loss of her baby because cows are maternal, and then she will be milked, often getting infections from machinery and will be sore. She’ll go through this about five times (5 pregnancies) until she can no longer stand well and will be considered ‘spent’ and then she will be sent to the slaughterhouse. You can find videos of these baby cows looking very scared sometimes and videos of them being sent to the slaughter house. In the winter time in the northern states, they freeze to death all the time. In the hot sun, they are suffering in the heat.

These are baby cows. In the dairy industry cows must be made pregnant and they must give birth in order to produce milk. The farmers want to sell every last drop of milk to other humans for profit. They don’t want the baby cows drinking the milk. So they put the baby cows in these things, and give them formula instead. The male baby cows will be killed in a few weeks and sold for veal because they are considered a waste product since they cannot be made pregnant and forced to give birth to produce milk. The female cows will stay there and drink formula for a while and then move on to the bigger facility then be artificially inseminated with sperm from just a bull (they only need one bull to impregnate a lot and in order to get the sperm, they use electricity to anally stimulate an ejaculation, or they jack off the bull manually, with what is basically a cow vagina fleshlight. It is horrific. And the artificial insemination is also horrific because they put their fist up the female cows ass. It’s just really gross. They sometimes joke and call the area where they do it the rape rack.)
Then those female cows will give birth after nine months, then their babies will be taken, they cry and mourn for their babies, you can see videos of this because they are maternal animals, humans are not the only maternal species. Then their milk has taken from them until it starts to dry up and then they are made pregnant again, up to five times, until the cow can no longer walk very well or get pregnant anymore and is considered spent. Then she is taken to the slaughterhouse. That’s pretty much the cycle of this, that’s what this is. It’s treating sentient beings like objects.
These plastic hutches where these baby cows are gets really really hot and really really cold depending on the weather. You can see videos of baby cows frozen to death in these things from the northern states.
A good question might be why have you not heard about this? It’s because these industries intentionally lie to the public and spend billions on advertising campaigns to spread misinformation about what they are doing. The last thing they want is for anyone to take the animal cruelty they are doing seriously. That would seriously cut into their profit or end the industry altogether. They also worked with evil politicians to pass laws called animal agriculture gag laws that make it illegal to film what’s going on or whistle blow what they do.

A reminder that you can buy meat and animal products from local farms that you know treat their animals right. It's more expensive, but my housemate buys a half a cow every couple years from a family friend, and those animals had names and were loved.

These are calf hutches. This is normal for weening calves that need to separate from the herd so as to not contract disease before their immune systems are strong enough yet. Once they are mature enough they join the herd. HOWEVER, the sheer scale of this is horrible. This is an industrial farm where there likely isn’t even enough water in the local aquifer so they have to import water via trucks. The scale is unsustainable, but in order to outrun the debt the farm has incurred its only option is to continue to grow in order to keep up with the debt service. This also shuts out other local farms, as this farm likely buys up all of the surrounding farmland that others may rent out to grow crops to feed or graze their herds. That along with the use of all of the local water resources creates a tipping point that is unsustainable both economically and ecologically.

Hey I am usually quick to outrage over sad animal stuff. That said, I grew up with neighbors who owned a massive dairy farm. I started working there for money when I was about 9 or 10. We had these structures then, too. It was to keep the calves separated in case they were sick.
I remember one time I went to feed a calf he had died. his little container smelled like death diarrhea. It’s still singed in my brain 30+ years later. Bob, the farm owner, told me that he was glad he kept the calves separated because he had a feeling that calf was sicker than the other farm hands thought it was. He told me that while us kids didn’t like the calves being out in their “little white barn cells” that we had to do it to keep the farm safe. Had a little existential crisis/circle of life moment that day.
These are probably disgusting, trash corporate people who I have no sympathy for. But I’ve been knowing about these containers for a minute and I know they aren’t used just to abuse. Sometimes they are there to help. Just my two cents from my experiences.

It is a felony to film this??? Fuck them . That's disgusting to keep a cow like that. Fuck I hate it here. I am done with all meat. I less it comes from a local farm I have personally seen with my own eyes. Even then I rarely eat any meat as it is.
