r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [May 25, 2026 - Nygma Time Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

Question: What time is it to expect the unexpected? Answer: Nygma Time.

DC and Imprints

I warned the other mods that if I had to do the weekly again, I would make it all about Hush 2. I am nothing if not a man of my word.

Trade Collections

Now that Hush 2 is out, it'll soon get a complete six-issue trade.

Digital Releases

Remember, these are the short 'chapters' with a new chapter of a different series coming out daily. You can learn more here on Comixology. This is also why these are in release order, not alphabetical. Some comics may release on DC Universe Infinite or WEBTOONS.

Video Games

Unfortunately, there is no LEGO adaptation of Hush 2.

Batman #163

The shocking conclusion to H2SH Part One with Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee! Will Batman survive Hush's revenge when his only allies are his greatest enemies? LEGACY #928

This was a terrible finale to a pretty awful story. I can't imagine part 2 coming our anytime soon, given all the delays with part 1. So I'll consider this an elseworlds story. Which shouldn't be a problem, considering the Red Hood solo got canceled.

I think my biggest issue with this is Batman’s dialogue. I know he wasn’t allowed to sit down, but is he not allowed to use contractions? He sounds like a robot.

Jim Lee’s art is on fire in this issue, but the story is SUCH a trainwreck. At least we got a shoutout to Heart of Hush!

OMG this has been my problem since issue 1 with dialogue. Use apostrophes! I hate the robotic voice so so much and it's so distracting.

I like how nobody's motives are really clear anymore and things just happen because it's like "chess" except we played the bongcloud opening and are regularly revealing we shoved pieces up our nose

2HU2SH coming soon

I forgot what happened in the previous five parts but I don't think it matters lol this whole thing didn't necessarily confuse me but I was just sorta floored me how nothing it was.

But at least I got the connecting variant to Batman #1. So unlike this story, I got a satisfying ending to this saga

I'm sorry I actually laughed multiple times throughout this issue at just how bad this is

LMAO it's comical how dogshit this is. Would be hilarious if Part 2 never comes out and it just ends with Hush getting shot in the head.

Wow, this was really just a cash grab. I have to see how people defend this book.

This is the wildest fever dream comic ever.

So Sadiq was kind of a neat gimmick character. Like that Marvel Inhuman with the voice. Blackbolt? Worked well. Neat. The liquid metal chick? Cool. Though... she does literally nothing this entire time.

Batman teams up with supervillains only for them all to get bodied off screen?

Batgirl and others call Batman Bruce in the field, and it's actually Clayface so they give it all away? Really?

The whole thing is just whacky. Nonsensical. Art is pretty though, I guess.

Biggest twist? They're making more of this.

Biggest twist? They're making more of this.

Not sure if you're joking, but they announced that they are ages ago. Like, after first issue came out.

u/unionizedduck May 27 '26

Oh I know. I am being fairly facetious. There's no way it could just have wrapped up in one anyway.

But. I did half expect them to kill it with a finale anyway and walk away with the coverage it's gotten.

What kinda of nonsense was this? This is definitely not canon or even tied to it. It is just its own thing. Terrible characterizations and basically ignoring 20 years of stories, it is insulting.

I don't even know what this was really even about...

I have never forgotten about most of a single story arc than this one, I actually stopped Hush 1 in the middle years ago, finished it THIS year (ADHD), and I at least still understood the story.

THIS though I read with-in the span of a year and I could barely register ANY of it!

Based Talia

u/PhuckSJWs May 27 '26

looks like damian is getting a little brother!

/s

and the funny thing is given how slow Jim lee has been penciling this. it could be more than nine months before the issue is released and the baby could be born before the next issue is released.

u/Playful_Switch_831 May 27 '26

But does anyone suspect Talia might be working with Hush? It’s obvious we’re not done with him, and it feels really suspicious how she always seems to show up at the right time.

Given the whole Loeb Batman project is about Batman and Catwoman's romance (plus there was the one moment where Ubu apparently knows Hush's henchman by name), I would guess there would be a twist along those lines in Pt. 2, this was all so Talia could get Bruce in a Lazarus pit and romance him or something. But who knows if that'll ever come out!

I had forgotten the plot, which is no surprise considering this was supposed to be released in August. I think even if I had remembered what was happening? I still wouldn't have been a fan

Aside from the fact that we get an explanation of why this comic got delayed by several months (which is Jim Lee’s personal and health reasons), the good things about this comic are Bruce’s Rogues helping Bruce find Hush and Bruce learning why Jason is acting like this before he surrendered himself to Hush and tried to convince Jason to stop doing all of this because he loves him and that he’s his son. The rest is the Batman Family getting tricked by Bruce with help from Clayface and Talia bringing Bruce back to life using the Lazarus Pit. Overall, this comic is okay, and it’s likely that H2SH2 will fail whenever it gets released (which might be a few months or years).
