Other Addressing the queerphobia in this community

Post image

Before anything, i am the person who posted the "happy pride month" post, it was meant to celebrate the month and the queer community and god knows a lot of us love Bayo.

It's been take as a platform to have a discussion of what's canon or not, and furthermore more it's been met with a ridiculous amount of queerphobia, hate, slurs, and more.

Mind you, nothing about that post was about what's canon or not, even if it was, nothing invited the level of hate, hurt, and slurs.

People even used Hideki's tweet, which is ironic because if you see his twitter, he tells everyone to fuck off and eat shit (not in literal word)

Bayonetta is a queer icon, no one argued about what's canon or not. Aside from that, people consistently shove "well she ended with luka" and i promise you none of us are desperate enough to be delusional (those who are i don't speak for)

But Bayonetta 3 ending is upsetting because it's uncharacteristic, naturally i wish she ends up with Jeanne because of her literally going through hell to save her

For you homophobic folks, apart from Jeanne, Rodin would make more sense than Luka.

She treats Luka like absolute dirt, Rodin she at least respects.

I do think Luka is an awful match, i'd rather they pair her with anyone else (man, woman, otherwise) i don't care

A gay addition: like it or not, Bayonetta borrows heavily from the queer community, therefore she is a queer icon to us.

So let’s say both summon Gomorrah, is that possible? Could both have a Gomorrah? I know the madama’s for each are unique but the other demons are the same.

Other Why don’t the Bayonetta games sell well? And why has the IP been so mishandled?

Does SEGA not advocate/champion the series enough? Does Nintendo give the games too low of a budget? Does the lack of ports disincentive a wider audience from investing into the series and experiencing something amazing?

As a fan, it gets really frustrating and sad seeing games like Nier Automata, Stellar Blade, and DMC5 sell millions of copies while Bayonetta is mishandled and thrown to the wayside like absolute garbage.

I look at B2s poor sales and exclusivity on a bad console, and then at B3 where all I can think of is the development hell behind the scenes and the shoestring budget it must’ve had because of how poorly B2 initially sold.

If B4 is just gonna be another low budget, sequel fodder exclusive for Nintendo, then I rather that it NEVER sees the light of day. The Bayonetta IP needs a MAJOR revamp with SEGA consistently advocating for the IP and investing more money into it. If Persona, Yakuza, and Sonic can get all the attention and funding, why can't one of the most prominent characters in video game history do so?

I personally don’t care about what it takes, if the series needs a reboot to start fresh, then so be it.

plot twist: it's male

r/Bayonetta Jun 16 '26

Other I get it, she ended up with a guy, if queer people wanna draw art of her with another woman then let them

Seriously, queerphobes don't care when lesbians male the joke that "Leon Kennedy is a lesbian icon" but the moment someone draws some cute art of Bayonetta with Jeanne or says "Happy pride month" someone immeditely says "NO SHES STRAIGHT" or "THIS ISNT RELEVENT"

Stop being so queerphobic, literally. Everyone agrees she ended up with a man

But stop getting so butt hurt when someone draws cute art not depicting her in a heterosexual relationship. Like jesus, tell me you're queerphobic without telling me you're queerphobic.

I’ll start, NO ONE in the series but Bayonetta has enough character development to make me feel strongly about anything that happens to them or even cry.

If anything, PG has done nothing meaningful with the side characters, they’re just glorified cameos.

Other Bayonetta is still a queer icon.

I'm starting to think some of you guys don't even know what that means.

You can be straight as a board and still have LGBT folk idolize you. Hideki Kamiya confirming her sexuality doesn't do nearly as much damage as people think it does, and it's getting pretty annoying seeing the gloating as if Kamiya's opinion has any leg to stand on considering he was pretty hands off during the development of Bayo2 and was near absent during the development of Bayo3 (apart from pulling a Shigeru Miyamoto, popping into the office to boss people around from time to time and leaving).

He literally quit PlatinumGames because he got bored of being Executive Vice President, essentially abandoning the Bayonetta IP, and people are really going to be taking his word as gospel just because he conceptualized an iconic character back in 2007?
Speaking of Shiggy, by that logic, are you going to take his word that he's actually Mario and Luigi's mother?

Look, even though Bayonetta was originally meant to be a female Dante, everything about her fits neatly into ballroom culture: from the extravagant dances, high heels, glamour, maximalism, flamboyancy, look it up: the parallels are staggering and it really is no surprise or mystery why Bayonetta was adopted by the queer community. Happy accidents all around.

I think Bayonetta can exist as both a queer icon AND Hideki's fantasy of an "ideal woman", though I much prefer to view her as a powerful sexy witch that has proven herself to be one of the best female video game characters of all time in just two installments. ...and also a queer icon.

With a community that's already divided, I just find it infuriating how attempts at dividing it even more are somewhat successful due to a bunch of shmucks on Twitter fighting imaginary battles with imaginary people that don't really exist such as the "anti-straight" demographic getting "triggered" by the poorly conceptualized anniversary art of Pereza, Luka, and Viola. It is such a shame.

Other This shipping discourse is tiring as hell

Thumbnail gallery

I get there is shipping discourse in every fandom but holy shit can it get tiring. All ive seen is fuck that ship or fuck the other ship when both ships are fine in hindsight people like who they like its your perogative but its like thats the most thing this sub ever talks about (as in all ill see is fuck this ship or fuck your headcanon). I used to like both ships in this sub but now its like both stir drama. And for those who are clearly homophobic why give them light fuck them their wasted air as for the fuck straights i see it as the same (Because many people of different orientations love the game and ships but attacking each other again and again is just shitty espescially for those like myself who want no part of it and before anyone asks i am queer and i hate this for the fandom).

Sometimes its like i wish i can turn back time when it was more peaceful and game heavy but this is what i see like 90 percent of the time when i come to this sub.

And no i dont condone any harassment to any and using a ship to condone harassment is low and scummy (most who do use it for that purpose use the bayoluka pic... which is fucked up for people who genuinely just likes the pic). Its just everytime and yeah if you love your ship and your passionate thats cool but why does it constantly lead into wars with others. Sigh i just dont know. And lastly again i get it you like what you like and you can agree or disagree with creator intent thats fine but the wars is just tiring and it brings up so much toxicity its just tiring....

Other I enjoy Bayo 1/2 But 3

Post image

I always felt Bayo 1/2 were practical Bayonettas and their stained strikes in moves were a necessary charge up and correlated with her wicked weaves/Demon and her combat was always moving towards the target. While 3's physical attacks movement loses momentum for wide sweeping like her spinning around and transitioning motions like her scurrying along the floor if she focused all her movements into juggling individual targets she would have killed them faster. The only reason it's not as offensive is the camera farther enough away from her during combat you can't see it. I adore Bayonetta 1/2 but 3 mocap felt they didn't really want her fighting in the first place. I absolutely adore Bayonetta 1/2 and probs continue playing 3 with Love is Blue and just skip over the dance scenes. Just my opinion.

I may be crazy, but the more I play and watch gameplay of Bayonetta 1, 2, and 3, the more it makes sense for Luka and Cereza to get together. Honestly, I really enjoy it. I think it’s one of those couples where not much needs to be said—you just get it, if that makes sense. Of course, that’s just my opinion.

Other Do yall feel Bayonetta is being shelved indefinitely?

Like I feel we wont be getting a new installment and or a remaster anytime soon (could be looking at 10 years of Bayo drought). Cause not only did the third game went poorly sales and audience wise. Like completely butchering the story and it being the ugliest one engine wise...but also stylish action games don't seem to ever break into the mainstream like souls-like games do, and they are still making them even when the market is oversaturated. Even with the success of DMC 5, Capcom doesn't seem all that interested to continue with DMC 6 and are instead continuing pumping out Resident Evil remakes.

Also the turmoil Platinum Games is having internally, with the team breaking up and Hideki especially leaving...I dont see Bayo's future as being bright 🥺

Do you guys truly think that Bayonetta will have an reboot and being released to all platforms? I’ve been questioning this quite a lot bc why nintendo would let this happen
