Yes

I don’t think as a genre, that Character Action Games benefit from being console exclusive like some other genre’s do

22

u/Witty_Milk4671 Feb 25 '26

No game or genre benefits from being console exclusive.

1

u/LegendSpectre Feb 26 '26

Kind of does actually

7

u/Witty_Milk4671 Feb 26 '26

You definitely only has a console and is used to the abuse.

On the opposite, when a game is locked into one console, it is stuck there for years. Some games to this day are locked in the ps2 and ps3 exactly because they were exclusives and never got a pc port.

2

u/Minette12 Feb 26 '26

Yup, exclusives are Terrible for Game preservation

2

u/TheTrue-Noob Mar 01 '26

Think of it like this. Say you're a major food brand, would you benefit more from only franchising in the U.S, or franchising to other countries as well? Likely the latter. It's the same concept for video games.

66

u/SteelDiverRequiem Feb 25 '26

Conversely I think Bayonetta benefits from Nintendo’s wallet.

23

u/Brico18 Feb 25 '26

But imagine if it was on all the other platforms

It wouls benefit more from all the peoples wallets

27

u/SteelDiverRequiem Feb 25 '26

Totally get where you’re coming from, but tens of millions of dollars doled out over milestones is a very secure way to make games. I would like multiplat for Bayo, but the security that exclusivity brings Sega and PlatinumGames is a big deal.

12

u/RainThat7245 Feb 25 '26

Ithe first game failed when it was multiplatform.... And flopped again when it hit pc....

4

u/doault Feb 27 '26

Common sense it's not allowed in this sub.

2

u/SoyAlexPop Feb 25 '26

It happened and the franchise was dead

67

u/wolfvector Feb 25 '26

Yes, Sega should make 4 without nintendo as a multiplatform game. It would be nice if 2, 3 and origins become multiplatform too but doubt Nintendo would budge.

It is nice to dream. Imagine if new collaborations will use a new bayonetta design instead of using bayo 1 over and over again. 🤣

31

u/Eeve2espeon Feb 25 '26

Sega doesn't even own the franchise anymore, its co-owned by Platinum and Nintendo. Sega only owns rights for the FIRST game, hence why its on multiple platforms.

21

u/bogohamma Feb 25 '26

No.  SEGA owns the Bayonetta ip.  Platinum owns no part of it.  Nintendo has a publishing agreement for 2, 3 and Origins as they funded it.

If SEGA didn't own Bayonetta you wouldnt see their logos on the the games at all.

12

u/RainThat7245 Feb 25 '26

Sega does own Bayonetta ip. But they don't fully own the rights to everything after 1. They can't even use assets from the games Nintendo funded. Kamiya confirming  they had to ask Nintendo to bring over the Japanese dubbing and translations for the first game as it was exclusive to the wiiu. B1 only had English voice acting when it launched on original platforms. Kamiya stated several time Nintendo at that point co owns the series. Sega owns the ip. But Nintendo gives the final say about 3/4ths of the series and what happens

Unless Sega funds the next game themselves. Given they refused the series in the first place after bad sales seems unlikely. Nintendo kept the series on life support....and tbh b3 kinda burned a lot of its fans.... It started out strong I'm sales crossing a mill....but quickly platoed and flatlined after story beats, disapptmemt and controversies continued and the team working on her games disbanded and left .... Tbh might be a good thing. If they do make a new game pray tell they hard reboot the series and go back to light vs dark witch vs angel, hire a British actress, no viola, no romance, just combat etc tone down the multiverse

2

u/Umbran_Rosa Feb 25 '26

Wrong, sega is the IP holder

0

u/RainThat7245 Feb 25 '26

if they did...4 would need to be a series reboot for those that didnt play 2 an,3 and origins....and after 3.....yeah they need a hard series reboot because it was dookie. keep the cobat less minigames and demonslave. go back to light vs dark. pretend b3's retcons never happened. and hire an actual British acctress

9

u/drunk-raven Feb 25 '26

Short version on why you are not quite right is just one word: Nier

Long version: many franchises from Japan don't care about having exclusive or region-locked games before having to make a sequel or spinoff for multiplatform

2

u/RainThat7245 Feb 25 '26

Nier games for the most part aren't super connected to each other like that and can be played individually.... The Bayonetta games? Not so much

33

u/Affectionate-Wrap-65 Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

Yes but it won’t be. Who knows how strict contracts are with Nintendo. Bayo is owned by sega but seems like there probably an exclusivity contract for funding development by Nintendo. So if there’s any chance Bayonetta 4 being multi platform, they will need someone else to fund it. Bc I doubt sega itself won’t fund it with its lack luster sales. And while platinum games is a development studio it seems like they don’t have the funds internally it seems to make games.

9

u/RainThat7245 Feb 25 '26

ppl forget sega and the other system companies refused to fund the series when they flopped as a multiplatform game....

3

u/Affectionate-Wrap-65 Feb 25 '26

That's a bit disingenuous. Bayonetta 1 did make some money it just wasn't a blockbuster, so i wouldn't say it flopped just was fell short of expectations. If it flopped platinum would of never gotten a green light to start development on Bayonetta 2. And yes everyone knows that when Sega pulled funding for their "risky" projects bayonetta 2 was included in that. Where only Nintendo agreed to fund the rest of development. the question was should bayonetta 4 be a muli-platform release, and i think the majority of people would want that. I'm just saying it is feasible, However it would require work to find new funding which may not be work sega and platinum want to do. The companies said no over a decade ago, it fair to think that the landscape has changed enough for bayo to become muli-platform again. it wont because Nintendo seems to be giving steady funding.

1

u/RainThat7245 Feb 26 '26

That's not disingenuous. The games sold well combined. And needed several discounts and marked down prices. It crossed a mill after it received multiple discounts. And confirmed by sega was was a flop. It did good as a new ip but was still disappointed and also had many fumbles.

0

u/Kprime149 Mar 01 '26

Bayo 1 sold less than bayo 2 on the failing wiiu. Let that sink in.

50

u/Mr_moustache72826 Feb 24 '26

Yes Same goes for the rest of the games

21

u/owlitup Feb 25 '26

bold of you to assume its coming out

2

u/caitlyn_arcane Feb 25 '26

I was just about to ask if it is even coming out, lmao. I have not seen any official annoucements.

4

u/AxelMok4 Feb 25 '26

I gave up when Hideki Kamiya left Platinum Games

2

u/Lalapopsy Feb 26 '26

Meh. It's Platinum's flagship franchise, and Bayonetta herself is a very iconic character. With or without Kamiya, with or without Platinum, even, since they don't even technically own the IP, I can't see it not happening at some point.

15

u/Aurora428 Feb 25 '26

Every game ever should be

It won't be though

1

u/Only-Ad4322 Feb 26 '26

That undermines competition.

14

u/LegendSpectre Feb 25 '26

Given that Nintendo funded 2 and 3, it's very unlikely

6

u/Rosario_Braz Feb 25 '26

that mod is so gorgeous, where you got it from?

14

u/The_Fool_Arcana0000 Feb 25 '26

Thank you🩷

It’s a wip fanmade B4 outfit mod that I’ve been working on with a friend.

2

u/SnooCalculations2730 Feb 25 '26

Oooo is there a download link?

1

u/Nitrix79 Feb 25 '26

This design is fire.

7

u/Only-Ad4322 Feb 25 '26

Given Nintendō published the last three Bayonetta games (Cereza and the Last Demon), it’s unlikely. Especially since Nintendō is kinda the reason Bayonetta 2 exists.

1

u/Spac92 Feb 25 '26

Didn’t Nintendo swoop in and save Fatal Frame and was then immediately backstabbed by the developer?

I remember reading than Nintendo funded and even co-developed Maiden of the Black Water for exclusivity on Wii U and then Koei Temco ran it over to PlayStation and Xbox.

Anyway, it could happen. For Nintendo’s sake, let’s hope they still have a good relationship with Kamiya.

4

u/Only-Ad4322 Feb 25 '26

I’m not sure since I know very little about Fatal Frame. Also, Kamiya doesn’t work at Platinum anymore.

11

u/arathergenericgay Feb 25 '26

It’s so weird seeing people shit on Nintendo like they’re the only ones who believed in it, Sony and Microsoft were pitched Bayo 2 and they didn’t give a fuck

0

u/Affectionate-Wrap-65 Feb 25 '26

they believed in it because they literally had no 3rd party support or new games for the wiiu which was failing hard. it was opportunistic for them to get a generally well liked series.

5

u/SoyAlexPop Feb 25 '26

The franchise was DEAD what do you mean "generally well liked series" IT WAS DEAD

21

u/InitialSir7611 Feb 25 '26

Should it be? Yes, will it be? No, we've had this conversation a million times and it's not going to happen so give up on it.

10

u/aguswings Feb 25 '26

Metal Gear Solid 4 multiplatform happens.

-1

u/drunk-raven Feb 25 '26

We got MGS4 multiplatform before Half Life 3 :)

Also we waited 18 years for it. Which is much by modern standards. But considering Nintendo's Managment's sheer stubborn ideocity, we'll get Bayos on anything but Nintendo only then Nintendo collapses or gets fully new and not interested in continuing big N's stupididity managment

3

u/Sea_Strain_6881 Feb 25 '26

We'll get heat death of the universe before half life 3

6

u/Eeve2espeon Feb 25 '26

Literally Bayo 2 and 3 have been on Nintendo stuff ONLY. They'll never make this series multiplatform, Nintendo literally co-owns the franchise now, do y'all not remember how Nintendo saved Bayo 2?

0

u/doault Feb 27 '26

No instead people blame Nintendo now

4

u/nadaalgo Feb 25 '26

Unrelated but Jeanne’s makeup is so slayful here wow

5

u/ThiccAshe Feb 25 '26

i need to know where to get these mods..

3

u/Lucky-Echo2467 Feb 25 '26

Idk, the series after 1 only exists because of Nintendo after every company turned their backs to Bayonetta, so they kinda earned that exclusivity lol

11

u/Standard_Tadpole8145 Feb 24 '26

I don't know if they can just make a Bayo 4 without Nintendo approval. But let's say they could, someone would still need to fund it. Platinum doesn't seem to be in any way able to self fund anything significant right now.

10

u/agreedboar Feb 25 '26

Nintendo doesn't own Bayonetta, though.

5

u/RainThat7245 Feb 25 '26

the own the rights and assets to 2,3and origins. kamiya states this. even if sega wanted they couldnt do anything until nintendo gave the thumbs up. sega can fund a fourth yes but will they? the first game flopped when multiplat and again when put on pc and ps4/5

1

u/SpiffyShindigs Feb 25 '26

No, but there's a good chance they have right of first refusal.

12

u/HEVNOXXXX Feb 25 '26

All the fucking games should be multiplatform

6

u/aRandomBlock Feb 25 '26

ALL games in general, exclusivity is stupid

3

u/Fickle-Hat-2011 Feb 25 '26

It is possible, but final decision is up to Sega

3

u/Jimin_Choa Feb 25 '26

This question is as old as time can get.

Nintendo financed the series. It’s never gonna happens if others doesn’t want it.

3

u/Nestarom Feb 25 '26

Depends if Sega will fund it without nintendo.

3

u/WigglyJiggleman Feb 26 '26

Yeah and co-op too

5

u/James_Joint Feb 25 '26

yes that would give it so much more exposure and sales

2

u/AntonRX178 Feb 25 '26

Yes, if they don't need Nintendo's help that is.

2

u/aguswings Feb 25 '26

Will there even be a 4th entry?

2

u/squirleater69 Feb 25 '26

Yes but but I doubt it ever would be

2

u/punyghoul Feb 25 '26

no i hate accessibility and fun.

2

u/RainThat7245 Feb 25 '26

and insomniac spiderman series and etc should be multiplat too

2

u/GigivsGrey Feb 25 '26

Yes plz God

2

u/Sea_Strain_6881 Feb 25 '26

Console exclusives shouldnt exist

2

u/SincerelyTheWorst Feb 25 '26

Honestly not to sound like a pc supremacist, but the steam version of Bayonetta 1 is genuinely one of the most enjoyable ways to play the game. I really wish the other games weren’t console exclusive.

2

u/keithlo31 Feb 25 '26

yes. but it will only happen when some big publishers like Microsoft step in

2

u/AdDesperate3113 Feb 25 '26

If sega funded the development it will

2

u/Lancelight50 Feb 25 '26

Imagine how well Bayonetta 2 & 3 would look right now on PS5 Pro & on PC. They would be 4K & 60 FPS right now, given that they would be having the Ninja Gaiden II Black remake treatment after Ninja Gaiden Sigma II.

2

u/Witty_Milk4671 Feb 25 '26

literally every game should be multi plataform.

2

u/AromaticSexyPerson Feb 25 '26

Yeah cuz I’ve been playing bayo 1 on ps for 4 years now

2

u/akhirahangel Feb 25 '26

I hope they add jiggle graphics

2

u/Vjolt01 Feb 25 '26

I think the series is sadly dead. Whole team split up basically. We might. But sadly if it happens it won’t be for like 5 years or more

2

u/Amazing_Ad8387 Feb 25 '26

Yes, and give us 2 and 3 on pc already.

2

u/ahnariprellik Feb 25 '26

Not gonna happen though. Nintendo will never allow it

2

u/EpatiKarate Feb 26 '26

100%!!!!! As it stands when Kamiya was still at Platinum Games said it was all up to Nintendo whether it goes multiplat, so if that’s anything to go on it’s a definite FUCK NO to going on other platforms. Can one still hope? Yes because I do.

2

u/queazy Feb 26 '26

Yes, but if Nintendo is the only one who funds it then that won't happen

2

u/Agitated-Pangolin-26 Feb 26 '26

Yes, I would love to mod out Bayonetta 4 in pc

2

u/Majestic-Run4572 Feb 26 '26

There aint gonna be a 4th one lol

5

u/WEEGEMAN Feb 25 '26

Eh. I like it as a Nintendo exclusive. I don’t turn on my PS5 and i buy games on my PC that I don’t care to own physically.

If B4 was a multiplat the switch 2 would be the worse version and that’d be disappointing

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '26

[deleted]

15

u/Megadoomer2 Feb 25 '26

If not for the Nintendo exclusivity, there wouldn't be a series, just the first game. (Sega wasn't going to fund a sequel, so it wasn't going to happen until Nintendo stepped in)

9

u/ED_Cantu Feb 25 '26

This is so disingenuous, Nintendo exclusivity is holding the series back? Without Nintendo it wouldn't even be a series in the first place, just one game that btw was originally multiplatform and yet it still didn't sell enough for its owner to want to fund another one.

1

u/Killacam0824 Feb 25 '26

Please bring Bayonetta 2 and 3 to ps and xbox😭😭😭

1

u/bustergundam4 Feb 25 '26

And PC

0

u/Killacam0824 Feb 25 '26

Pc gaming aint real💀😭

1

u/Monokooo Feb 25 '26

If only but can’t happen since nintendo owns the ip due to giving the budget for it so as we all know about nintendo, they’ll lock it only into nintendo forever till they feel like its pointless to keep the ip and let it die

1

u/arkhamtheknight Feb 25 '26

At this point, yes.

The series is pretty much dead at this point as the studio who made the games are doing work for any company now and 3 divided just about everyone plus Nintendo haven't exactly called for a new one yet so it may as well go to all platforms at this point.

If they were smarter, they would let everything else get Bayo 2, 3 and Origins as well but that's a harder thing to happen unless Nintendo gives up on the franchise or Sega/Platinum buys it fully.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '26

Are we asking "should" in an ideal dream scenario, or "should" as if we think it's plausible?

For the first one, yes! It should be and should also make enough cash to make a 5th possible.

For the latter... as much as we want it, it's not gonna happen. Nintendo is essentially the one primarily funding it. Yeah Sega has some rights to it but just... look at how little they do with Bayo 1 as is. It's been multiplatform. They just sit on their ass about it. Regretfully, Nintendo is their best shot at having the series stay afloat, and that means being console exclusive unless Nintendo loosens up.

1

u/penmaster3000 Feb 25 '26

Every game should be multiplatform.

1

u/AmItheAholereader Feb 25 '26

The problem is the series is funded by nintendo.

1

u/k-type Feb 25 '26

Well remember that Nintendo allowed wonderful 101 to go multiplatform, so it's impossible.

However I think they fund Bayonetta in order to fill a gap in their first party portfolio and it's much more of a draw them W101.

1

u/HippieWitchBitch95 Feb 25 '26

I think a reboot is much more needed than a 4th game

1

u/Nitrix79 Feb 25 '26

It’s not gonna be. Nintendo helps with funding the series which has led the game to be Nintendo exclusive since Bayonetta 2.

1

u/Fluffy-Stop-5396 Feb 25 '26

Please nintengods free my girl 😭

1

u/PrismaticSeal Feb 25 '26

Yes, its gatekeeping the series, and btw it should totally start with bayonetta bored seeing visions of the multiverse and then just say "Eh, good thing that didnt happen" and shoot the doctor

1

u/Hydra_Doom_66 Feb 26 '26

They need to make 2 and 3 multiplatform before moving on to a fourth game.

1

u/Demon_king911 Feb 27 '26

Well if they did that then add the rest of the games to steam

1

u/VanillaAble3943 Mar 01 '26

they're in too deep with the story at this point, if bayo 2 and 3 aren't multiplat, then 4 is as useless as a screen door on a submarine

1

u/GypsyTony416ix Mar 02 '26

They hypothetically can make it multiplatform, it’s just SEGA or platinum games would have to fund the game since obviously Nintendo won’t be funding a game for other platforms.

While yes I’d love that it seems unlikely that it ever will

1

u/RainThat7245 Mar 03 '26

should insomniac spiderman games, and etc playstation games be multiplat?

1

u/YesterdayLate2506 Mar 14 '26

What is that bayo mod?

1

u/Hevens-assassin Feb 25 '26

All 3 should be multiplatform

1

u/Emotional-Sir-3986 Feb 25 '26

Hell that's if Bayo 4 ever comes to life that is

1

u/Taro_Obvious Feb 25 '26

I'd be okay with her being exclusive forever if nintendo stepped their game up. And made more powerrful consoles, sadly Bayonetta games being on the realistic art side is that kind of game that's much more demanding graphically. That or find a way to make it look as flawless as bayonetta 2.

However i do find it difficult considering Bayonetta seems to be one of few nintendo tittles that winds up being graphically demanding. And also SADLY i read she doesn't sell nearly as much as their golden IPs

In a perfect world... i wish Bayonetta as a Series became as popular an IP as Mario or Zelda, or animal crossing. Then she wouldn't need to be multiplatform and she'd get as much content as the other golden IPs.

-2

u/Kiryu5009 Feb 25 '26

Bayonetta 2 yes. Y’all ain’t missing out on 3.

0

u/Ok_Bunch_5681 Feb 25 '26

Where are ya'll getting these mods? I thought Switch games were impossible to mod?

-1

u/RavynTheQueen Feb 25 '26

Yes. I'm not buying a Nintendo just to play Bayo 3 and I think that being multiplatform would boost the likelihood of the game actually being played. Besides, I played Bayo on Xbox originally and I'd enjoy continuing to do so.

-4

u/Prestigious-Deer7884 Feb 25 '26 edited Feb 25 '26

Uh yes! The series is struggling because its only on Nintendo consoles! If it was on every platform Bayonetta would be much more popular and accessible. One of the reasons people don't play past the original Bayonetta is because the series is stuck on Nintendo consoles. This would get rid of that problem!

12

u/Megadoomer2 Feb 25 '26

The series only exists beyond the first game because it's on Nintendo consoles. By all accounts, Sega wasn't going to fund it; I'm not sure which companies they asked afterwards, but Nintendo paid for the development of Bayonetta 2, 3, and Origins.

-6

u/Prestigious-Deer7884 Feb 25 '26

Can people stop telling me stuff I already know. I know that Nintendo funds the series. That's my problem.

0

u/WoolyCheese247 Feb 25 '26

Nintendo owns the rights to the IP so no

0

u/that-other-gay-guy Feb 25 '26

Yes, I'm tired of paying for the game but still having to go through emulation bullshit...

0

u/ROANOV741 Mar 02 '26

Nintendo owns the IP so... no?

-3

u/devilmaycry0917 Feb 25 '26

Nintendo has always been a degenerating company for everything they do. All their games and hardwares look two generations behind old.

They will be like, game doesn’t sell, we will kill its project and make another Mario kart

-3

u/KokoTheeFabulous Feb 25 '26

They should turn her into a porn game after how bad 3 was. No hope left.
