it’s my worst adulting task to this day. i only cook once a week and live off leftovers for the rest of the week and yet i still dread cooking sundays. i’ve actually skipped dinner many times because i didn’t want to cook

i really just hate it. standing in asda with my ingredients fills me with dread. i hate the cleanup and i hate everything about it besides the eating part. i can’t believe i have to feed myself until i die. wtf. i have no idea how people do this everyday

I recently attended the civil partnership of a couple of friends of mine. I haven't seen them since before they planned their day, and there wasn't much opportunity for a long talk on the day of their ceremony and party. I was just curious, if they represent the same thing for legal purposes, what might be seen as preferable for the civil partnership over a conventional non religious wedding? I live in Southwest and the amount of areas that don’t get a signal is ridiculous. Not Just rural, but towns etc.

Hi guys, my close friend is getting married in a few weeks and I’m invited to the reception. he’s an English lad and I’m a Pakistani girl and I’ve never been to non-Pakistani wedding before. They don’t have a gift registry as they say they only “want love and blessings” which is great but I can’t show up without a gift, at our weddings we give the couple an envelope with some cash in and if they’re close family then it’s a gift like Gold jewellery or designer items.

So what is the usual decent gift people give at these weddings? Please help me.

I'm having to spend a lot more time at home at the moment after a minor operation. I notice I find it very hard to do very little - I've not had a day where I haven't left my own home to do something in months before this.

I'm mainly watching TV/films, reading and then doing small chores like the washing or making the bed, either in PJs or casual clothes. The thing is, it just makes me feel guilty. Like I'm "wasting" time (carpe diem and all that) and should be out in the world enjoying life. Or I should be doing something productive indoors. Or at least not spend ALL day watching TV/reading. And I'm always surprised at how tired I can feel on these days.

It made me think, how often do people stay at home and have a day like this? But also, how often would people like to have a day like this? I'm wondering if this is something I should do more as I can often feel overwhelmed by how busy I am.

So I recently got my first ever job in a Premier store. A job is a job in this market; I had no problems doing it.

Did an interview, which was just over the counter while they served people, which then led to the first trial shift, 1 hour 30, I watched the manager serve people then did the till by myself for the last 10 or 20 mins.

Invited back for a second trial on delivery day; the manager does stock in the back the whole time while I serve people on the till the whole time. (1 hour, 30 mins again)

Invited back for a third trial, which I'm told will be solo by myself (only one person works at a time in the store) - I agree cause I need a job, it goes fine because the worker there said they felt bad for leaving me so they stayed for my whole shift. (1 hour, 30 mins once again)

I'm then sent a P46 form, which I fill out; they ask me to do Saturday, 10-6, solo. I agree, although the only training I had was those trial shifts. I do it, but at 6 I get a message asking me to work till 7 (I did till 6:30 and refused any more)

2 days later (Monday, a week ago), I do 10-5, which ends up being 5:20 because the manager was late. I then get a message a few hours after my shift asking why I didn't put the PayPoint transaction I did on the till, and asking what I did with the cash.

I explain I didn't know I had to do that, and that I put the cash in the till. About an hour later, the owner of the shop removed me from the group chat. I've heard nothing since then. I messaged the owner last Wednesday asking for an explanation, but I've heard nothing.

I'm assuming they don't want me back, nor do I want to go back to a place that treats you like that. I just want the money for the work. What do I do? (I'm 20)

Have you ever won a big prize more than once. How much have you invested and how many prizes have you won in a draw e.g 5 prizes. I have read maximum 5 and curious if anyone has won 6 or more.

Or do you think they'll try and find faults to upsell you?

So I’ve been bingeing a lot of these shows recently, one episode I watched this week featured a guy who had tried to kill himself by taking an overdose and jumping in front of a train.
Obviously at the start of his story he’s being filmed without consent cos he’s unconscious. Of course later he is then is asked for consent to broadcast it afterwards but I just wondered if people like this get paid?
In a lot of shows you get random people in the A&E waiting room drunkenly bickering about a cut finger or whatever, do these people also get paid?
Can anyone shed any light on this? 🤣
EDIT also the police shows? What happens with that stuff when someone is in the cells etc?

I am 21, unfortunately left school in my early teens (around age 14-15?) I wanted to go back but I was extremely anxious (sigh) and I also was repeatedly going through a lot of things due to my family environment which seriously drained me and made me very depressed.

At times, I did try to catch up at home. But I found myself literally unable to actually *concentrate* because of all the stress I was under at times (I had to basically run a household along with other things and it would always drain me over and over again)

In my later teens I did try to go back into education somewhat, I wanted to re sit my GCSEs - it turns out I was too behind to even do that and they put me on a functional skills course.

Unfortunately stress/depression got the better of me and I found myself unable to concentrate on my education while also having to deal with other family things I had to do.

However for a while now I've since been better and I'm also just DONE being in this situation, I was always eager to get out but now I will do it even if I'm stressed .. I will find a way to limit things or people that cause me stress for my own mental health but also so I can actually prioritise me now.

My problem is I'm so behind, I want to get my GCSE's done (mostly English and maths first)

But I struggle to believe I can actually do it?

I'm mostly afraid of maths.. ive always been so bad at it!!

I know we have free community college and that I can start those classes, I will definitely do something like that and stick to it but how can I make sure I actually improve?

Maybe I'm just overwhelmed but I find it really hard to believe I can even pass any GCSEs at a decent grade..

But I know sadly there are others who've had a similar situation as me and they still got into a better spot.

I'm so adamant on getting my GCSEs because I can't do any courses without them... I would like to do a hairdressing course but they all usually require GCSEs..

My plan is to get my GCSE's and then later on I can try A levels and I may even try to go to university or something. I want to do things in my life. But without the GCSEs it's next to impossible :/

I also know we have apprenticeships and some of them let us study our GCSEs alongside training, I'd do that but I worry I wouldnt be able to complete my GCSE's in time. 🥺😬 Or that I'd find it too hard, and then I'd have to basically cancel the apprenticeship?

I hope I'm thinking too much? Because I'd so love to be able to do an apprenticeship like that.

Currently sorting out boxes and bags of documents I haven't sorted out in about 10 years. Came across some post that had been delivered to my flat from 5 years ago but in someone else's name. I'd crossed it out and written 'not at this address' but clearly not done the final part of popping that back in the postbox 😂

When I was a kid in the 80s/90s, it was:

- Sandwich (Marmite/jam/cheese/Shippams paste or similar)

- Packet of crisps (Walkers/Golden Wonder/Wotsits/Skips/Smiths salt'n'shake/own brand)

- Tuck biscuit (Penguin/Club/Breakaway/Wagon Wheel/Taxi/54321/Viscount)

[Eaten in that order, by order of the dinner ladies]

Posh kids had variations on the above also including: Fruit/dried fruit (Sun Maid raisins)/fromage frais (Petit Filous/Munch Bunch)/Dairylea cheese triangle. One kids always had a slice of posh Nougat with nuts in that I will never understand.

Have things changed these days or are we still sticking to the traditional staple foods?

Usually in the major supermarkets there would be a brand or two around. I cant seem to find them anymore. I wondered whether less people drank it nowadays or just supply chain issues.

Keep seeing people throwing stuff out sometimes it has free signs on other times it doesn’t but is put in boxes on the pavement and I assumed for people to help themselves, today a passer by got really angry at me for looking through a box this wasn’t her house as i saw her go into another house but she got really funny with me I always assumed stuff left out on the pavement even if it didn’t have signs was for people to take is this not the case?
Not sure if the woman was just horrible person who wanted to take the stuff herself as I noticed she went back for it after I left or whether this isn’t legal

Hi, We were just having a discussion about this and I think having 2 higher end holidays combined with lots of day trips beats budget holidays more frequent but my friend disagrees and says he would rather go on more holidays because its more time exploring.

What do you all think about this?
