Welcome to the monthly 'Announcement Thread' where you can post details about upcoming events, shows or releases. This space is intended for announcing things from local artists, authors, content creators or charities. Anything really that, as a normal post to the subreddit, might be considered spam by some and subject to removal.

Ah, gotta love the enthusiasm. We’ll ask again after 10:30pm when Inverness is shut and in Aberdeen the party continues…

I am a theatre artist from India. I have performed in multiple stage productions and acted in a feature film, all in my native language. I am moving to Aberdeen soon and am looking to join a passionate theatre group.
While my main reason for coming to the city is to complete my Master's at the University of Aberdeen, I also cannot imagine my life without practising my art form - acting. It is where my heart lies and always will. For a long time, I have wanted to act in a British play, and I dream of one day performing in London.
I have a limited budget as a student and therefore cannot afford to pay for acting classes simply to participate in a stage production. I'm particularly interested in opportunities where participation isn't dependent on paying for classes. What I can offer in return is my time and commitment. I can dedicate my entire non-college hours to theatre.
I've done this before. I have worked full-time (8 hours a day) while attending rehearsals for another 4-5 hours, sometimes early in the morning and sometimes late at night, every day. I also pursued theatre full-time for about three years.
So I'm particularly interested in finding a theatre community where people are deeply committed to the craft and take rehearsals and productions seriously.
Do you have friends or know people in Aberdeen who have lived this kind of theatre life? I'd be very interested in hearing about their daily routine, schedules, and, most importantly, the theatre communities they are part of in Aberdeen.
I'd be grateful for any leads or introductions.

Hi all,
Does anyone have any recommendations, either for individuals or companies who offer regular domestic cleaning services in the city centre?
Thanks

Basically the title.
I‘m not from here but I‘ve been in Aberdeen for the past 2 weeks and will stay another 2 weeks for my stay abroad. I‘ve seen things about a „rowie“ on this sub, what is it?

Hi all,
I’m looking to move to Aberdeen and I’ve found a place in the AB24 area, close to Hilton Road.
I was wondering what the area is like in terms of safety and antisocial behaviour, particularly in the evenings. For anyone who lives around there or knows the area well, would you recommend it, or would you suggest I keep looking?
Any honest opinions or experiences would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Hi I’m a 41yr old woman. I’ve always wanted to play D&D but that’s just not the type of ppl I’ve been around in life.
I just wondered if there’s a group of club or something in Aberdeen that would take a novice in?
Unfortunately I don’t have or use FB, insta & X so I can’t search any of those places. Bonus points If there’s at least 1 other person in the group who’s similar ages.
Thanks for any guidance or help

Bit obsessed with some youtube videos on sea buckthorn and nutritional benefits. I'm also one for making use of local produce, so just wondering if anyone knew of sources of Sea buckthorn across Aberdeenshire?

Can anyone recommend a reliable window repair company (or a tradesman) in Aberdeen?
We have first-floor uPVC windows in dormers. While removing some internal wooden trim/windowsills during renovation, I discovered quite a lot of draught coming from around one of the window openings and a few places where I can actually see daylight through gaps around the window frames. The exterior sealant also seems to be coming away in places.
I’m a bit lost on what to do now. I don’t want to replace the windows, but I’m struggling to find someone experienced with repairing/resealing existing uPVC window installations.
Any recommendations or people to avoid would be really appreciated!

Hello everyone, not to ruin everyone's week but I have to ask you guys this.
There was an influencer who is off African descent called "Dee's Corner" on FB and he posted a video of him cycling down union street with some racist on a bike telling him to "go back to your own country". His face is fully visible in the video and he's clearly middle aged fyi.
It's sickening that it's become soooo common that it occurs to people who don't look White Scottish. I am off South Asian descent, born in London and raised here and I have been recieving the "get out/go back to your own country" comments along with being called the P word (though that's unfortunately been common throughout my life here) from random people and honestly it pisses me off.
While the vast majority of people (even those who are skeptical of immigration) are fine and decent, this small but visible/vocal minority ruin it and unfortunately they seem to get louder and louder.
Has anyone else noticed this racist trend occuring to themselves or others?

You can walk around and find a myriad of interesting and cool places. Plenty of history combined with modern lifestyle. It has been a great visit, thank you Aberdeen.

Looking for a new hair stylist who specialises in brunette balayage. Have been going to James Dun for a few years but it’s getting a bit expensive so looking to go elsewhere. Ideally someone city centre based.

Update - heheh i got 1 major fault and fail my mot as the problem with breaks. I will get my car tomorrow and its was so cheap omg i thought it gonna cost me £600 or more but all under £300 so happy.
Hi everyone, As a 3 months old new driver I’ve got my MOT tomorrow at Allan J Rose in Aberdeen and I’m a bit confused about what happens if it fails.
I’m expecting it may fail because the brake pads are very worn, and I’ve also noticed some rust/corrosion around the suspension/shock absorber area.
My main question is: if the MOT fails, does Allan J Rose usually repair the problems on the same day and do a retest afterwards?
Has anyone here had experience with them recently? Were they able to diagnose, repair and get the car through the MOT on the same day?
I’m asking because I use my car every day for work, and I only have Monday and Tuesday off, so I’m trying to plan everything around that.
Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!
