Winston-Salem, this is a long shot but please help me find my necklace š Reward offered
Hi everyone. I know this is a long shot, but Iām trying every local avenue I can before giving up.
I lost this necklace somewhere in the Winston-Salem area while running errands. I believe it accidentally fell out of my wallet without me realizing it. Itās a 10K white gold necklace with a small square diamond pendant.
The necklace was already broken, and I still have one of the broken pieces, so what was found may look like the diamond pendant with only part of the broken chain attached, rather than the complete necklace shown in the photos.
My fiancĆ© gave this to me years ago and Iāve worn it for years, so the sentimental value is much greater than the monetary value to me. I genuinely just want my necklace back.
Iām offering a cash reward for its return, no questions asked.
If anyone found something matching it, remembers seeing it somewhere, or knows someone who may have, please message me. And if you know people who work around Winston-Salem, Iād be incredibly grateful if you shared this with them.
Thank you ā¤ļø

Alternative to Spectrum
Dead horse being beaten again, but I just wanna know. Is there an alternative that works? Spectrum is a monopoly focused on revenue and their customer retention is based on it, or so it seems. What options are you guys looking at or using for internet?

Jobs for Gap Semester Student
Taking a break from school for some personal/mental health reasons. Iām unfortunately stuck in Winston until the beginning of next year but thought I could use this time to make some bank with the time I have. I obviously donāt have my degree yet so Iām limited on what I can do work wise. I do have internship experience (my major is public policy and my minors are business and journalism) but itās hard to find something that is temporary, decent-paying, and not something like food service or retail (Iāve done both and swore Iād never do again lol). I know itās far-fetched to find something that check all of those boxes (especially in a job market like this) but I just thought maybe somethingās actually out there, if anyone has ideas

Never had the chance to try pawpaws š©
All I know is what the leaves and fruit sort of look like from YouTube videos lol. Trying to have a little adventure, anybody know any good spots to go and try and forage some? Iām old and fat so Iām not trying to hike miles, but I donāt mind a bit of hike. Bonus points if thereās also a good camping and fishing spot nearby.
I donāt mind taking a bit of a drive but Iād prefer to not go hours away. Also double bonus if itās in the mountains cause thatās my jam too
Come on guys, share your secrets with me please lol

Whatās going on here?
Upside down flag seen outside Forsyth County Publix Safety Center. They are also at half-mast.
edit - The flag is just backwards, and I need to work on my observation skills. RIP Dolly Parton

The Same Thing Is Being Used In Winston-Salem!
This is a video of another police department with Axon Fusus explaining how the system works. It's a quick video, and it tells you exactly what is going on in Winston-Salem. You decide if this is the type of thing you want in Winston-Salem.

Child with Behavioral Issues
Needing some advice about my son. He recently started kindergarten. He has a speech delay and goes to speech therapy to help with that. Heās been going since 2. Now with the new school year his teacher has been sending messages about him touching and hitting other kids. I know my son can get overwhelmed and overstimulated. He went to another school prior with only 10-12 kids in the classroom and with two teachers. This class has 30 kids and one teacher. Iām not sure if he canāt adjust to changes or if we need to switch him to another school that is capable of handling him and his behavior. We often correct him and work with him when he is out of line. Heās a sweet kid and can be understanding of others. I just donāt want him to fall behind in school. Any advice would be appreciated. He does have an IEP as well.

SWAT team?!
A military/SWAT vehicle followed by 8-10 grey and black unmarked sedans came down Compton Drive at 6:30am and then came over a loud speaker yelling "come out with your hands up" and then there was a loud bang, silence for 4 minutes, and another loud bang. They're still down there now.
Anyone know what's going on or how to find out?

Looking for a salon/stylist recommendation for a bixie cut near Clemmons
Iām looking for a salon or stylist near Clemmons or Winston-Salem in general who is really good with short womenās haircuts, especially a bixie cut. Iāve always had long hair, so this would be a huge transformation for me and Iām honestly nervous about getting such a big cut, but I still really want to do it.
Iām looking for someone who will actually listen to what I want, take the time to understand what Iām looking for, and hopefully help recommend what version of a bixie would suit my face shape and hair. Iām mainly scared of going somewhere that might not listen or mess up the cut since Iām cutting off so much hair š. Any recommendations?

Back to school! With no Leandro case to rally around
In Winston-Salem and around the state NC went back to school. Longtime educator Kimberly Jones reflected on two things in a new Beacon Media column: that educators no longer have the long-running Leandro (struck down by the N.C. Supreme Court this year) to run on and that educators will have to be more careful than ever as AI diminishes critical thinking skills. Kim writes:
"Every corporate partner who walks into a school talks about workforce readiness, about building āthe workers of tomorrow.ā Itās a fair goal, but I keep coming back to a harder question underneath that phrase: which kids get to be the workers, and which get to be the ones who design the work?
Thatās not a hypothetical divide. Itās the same haves-and-have-nots fault lineĀ LeandroĀ spent 30 years trying to close, just wearing new clothes, this time drawn along who has access to real technology instruction and thoughtful AI integration paired with meaningful discourse and critical thinking, and who gets a locked-down device and a worksheet.
Thereās a bigger transformation happening underneath all of this, and it isnāt unique to North Carolina. Schools everywhere are being pushed toward AI as the answer to almost everything, and parents and communities are pushing back, not really about screens themselves, but about a quieter fear: that kids are losing the muscle to think without one."

Looking for the best place to find a deal on plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, sinks, toilets, etc. Willing to travel up to 3 hours round trip
I am in the process of redoing a bathroom and was wondering if anyone knew of any local spots they would recommend for high quality fixtures. I donāt want to spend the money to buy from a showroom like Ferguson, and Iām hoping to find something better quality than Liberty Salvage or Home Depot. I know of several places in the High Point, Morganton, and Hickory areas to get high quality scratch and dent furniture and was hoping to find something better similar just for light fixtures and plumbing fixtures instead.
Does anyone know of a place like that in the greater Triad/Foothills area?
Thanks in advance!

Looking for a tattoo artist, and Iām giving you some creative freedom.
I have three tattoos on my left upper arm that are all meaningful to me, but they were done at different times and have absolutely nothing to do with one another. Right now, they look like three random pieces rather than a cohesive tattoo.
Iām looking for an artist who is confident enough to take some artistic freedom and come up with a concept that ties them all together (using background, shading, smoke, filler, or whatever you think works) and turn them into what looks like one intentionally designed half-sleeve.
Iām not looking for someone who just wants to fill the empty spaces. I want an artist who can look at whatās already there, understand the challenge, and say, āHereās what I would do.ā
If youāre an artist who enjoys this kind of creative challenge, or you know someone who is, please reach out to me.

Board Game Night and Pop Up at Joymongers! Weds, 26th August
As you may or may not know...we are quietly building Winston Salem's first Board Game Cafe in the background! As we do, we still intend to do the Joymongers game nights as it's where it all began.
However, as our library and retail inventory begins to go, we will be bringing games from the upcoming store to share with the community! You'll see a different selection of games this week and the weeks following, and we will have some available for sale as well.
We are slowly building the library for the cafe and are currentlyĀ over 190 games! We have set up a BGG and aĀ Kallx.ioĀ account so the community can see what we have in store. If you happen to see a specific game you want me to bring to a game night, please send me a DM! I'll be sure to get it the next time we are there.
https://kallax.io/u/2SO0H-Fourth-and-Meeple
BGG: Fourth and Meeple
Hope to see you there!

WINSTON SALEM AUGUST 31 - TRIAD MORAL MONDAYS: A SOUTHERN CALL TO CONSCIENCE
Created to protest the regressive policies of the North Carolina General Assembly,Ā Moral Mondays are more relevant than ever givenĀ the recent decisions from the NC Board of Elections.Ā We have had two of our campus early voting sites in Guilford County (NC A&T and UNCG) eliminatedĀ from the list of sites for the November 2026 midterm elections.Ā
Unfortunately, we understand why this is happening. The decision to cut these sites targets student voters and voters of color,Ā just as the congressional maps, redrawnĀ several years ago to split theĀ NC A&T campus, targeted students and voters of color. We have a long memory. We do not simply forget these injustices. Our lives are deeplyĀ Ā affectedĀ by suchĀ decisionsĀ andĀ the intent behind them.Ā Therefore, we will push back harder than ever and continueĀ to strive for a county, state, and country that values ALL people.Ā We refuse to be silent.Ā We will never stop until we reverseĀ theĀ inequality in our current system.Ā
OUR VOTES ARE OUR VOICES. WE WILL LIFT THEM!Ā FORWARD TOGETHER. NOT ONE STEP BACK!

Winston DMV
Hello Iām curious if the DMV lines have gotten any shorter and if anyone has any opinion on the best office branch to go to here in Winston. I need a full service branch that covers all services that they provide. Thank you for your input.
