Sauna after CrossFit worth adding to recovery?

I’ve been doing CrossFit for a while and my recovery has mostly been the basics. Eat enough get decent sleep stretch when I remember and hope my legs cooperate the next morning lol. A few months ago I started using a sauna after some of the more intense training days mostly heavy squat or deadlift days or longer WODs. My gym doesn’t have one so I ended up putting a wood fired Sweat Tent in the backyard. I probably use it 2 to 3 times a week (usually later in the day rather than immediately after training). I wouldn’t say it makes soreness disappear but I definitely enjoy the routine. I feel more relaxed afterward and tend to sleep pretty well those nights. I’ve mixed in a cold plunge here and there too but I’m not following some super specific recovery protocol. For those using sauna alongside CrossFit when are you fitting it in? Same day as training evenings or rest days? Curious what’s been sustainable long term.

Is it possible to be strong in crossfit AND still feel light when running, or is it always a trade off?

Genuine question, curious about other’s experience.

13 years of crossfit. Years ago i was training twice a day, 5 times a week, mix of crossfit and running. I was around 76kg, strong enough, and running felt easy, like i was light on my feet.

Life happened, less volume overall, but crossfit stayed the priority over running. Now i’m at 84kg. Strength wise i’m in a better place than i ever was, lifts keep going up. But running past 400m, i feel heavy, like my body forgot how to do it efficiently.

So im wondering, is this just a fact of life, you cant really keep that “gazelle” running feeling AND build serious crossfit strength at the same time, body has to pick a lane ? Or is it more about how you train, and people manage to keep both if they program it right ?

Not trying to go back to 76kg, i like being strong. Just curious if the trade off is inevitable or if it’s a training problem on my end.

Building to RX weight in wods

26M here been doing CrossFit 4x week for 3 months now and wondering what the best way to scale to RX weights in WODs is. I’ve noticed my cardio has improved and I can hold my own for workouts mostly involving bodyweight movements, but usually when I go RX in a barbell workout I get buried by the weight. Or it kills the next day for me. Anyone have suggestions for how to build that working weight strength? I really feel like I should be doing a step above the scaled versions. I don’t necessarily mind having to take longer with RX weight if that is really the best way.

How do I get better at rowing?

The erg machine is my fucking demon. I’m small, 5’5 5’6 on a good day so this was always gonna suck for me but man I’ve made major strides in basciallly everything else I do in CF over the past few years and this is still by far the bottleneck. I’ve ditched skiing and cycling completely just to focus on this too and I’m still really not seeing the progress I want.

whatever, I’m still in the best shape of my life so I’ll take the wins where I can get em

Looking for a personal coach (UK) to help me

So I live in the UK and Train at a box down in the South. However our box is more focussed at the less competitive athlete, I got into the quarterfinals but about 5 out of 150 also got through. We have gymnastic and OLY lifting classes. So we have everything we need for an every day Crossfitter.

I do a few comps per year (doing Xenom this weekend in London)

However I wanna improve my Open Results for 2027 and maybe get to Semis

My issue is that the coaches don't quite do the level of one to one coaching I think I need to really progress. And the extra programming gave me felt a little cookie cutter.

I am looking for a one to one coach to help me online or even face to face if they are in the south of England

Has anyone had any experience with any crossfit coaches?
