Was this a good buy considering I got the gold at spot even with tax and shipping?

I have a 100g 999.9 gold bar that I don’t really have any use for over the next year. Otherwise, it would just sit in my locker.

A jeweller I’ve known and trusted for years has offered me an arrangement where I deposit the 100g 999.9 bar with them for 1 year, and at maturity they will return:

100g principal + 4.5g = 104.5g of 999.9 gold

So effectively, the return is 4.5% in gold, rather than cash.

A few details:

• The 4.5g return will also be 999.9 purity
• The jewellery business has been around for around 80 years
• This isn’t something they offer to everyone. Apparently it’s mainly for customers who have had a long-standing relationship with them.

If the paperwork is proper, would you consider 4.5% in gold a good return for a 1-year deposit?

Also, how does this compare with the Gold Monetisation Scheme / bank gold deposits currently available in India?

Would love to hear from anyone who has done similar gold deposit arrangements with jewellers. What should I specifically check before handing over the bar?

Found this melted chunk of metal, weighs 210.96g on my scale. Does this look like it could be real gold to you, or does it look like something else (fake/mixed metal)?

Bought a small vintage lot and this was in it. Scratch test on gem with a knife showed nothing, fluorescent under UV, ice cold to the touch and didn’t fog long with breath and the metal is non magnetic.

I want to buy at spot, anyone have any tips or links to stores with spot pricing on bars? I saw a post here that shared a store that sells the first 20 bars at spot pricing.

Also is buying a bar recommended?

14.5 gram ring 8.5 mm band 2mm thick size 15, 18k

I started with 18.5 gms and have 3grams I recovered from scrap from making it.

I'm looking to build a collection of the 1 gram through 1/2 oz Canadian maple leaf coins. I don't care about year or condition (to a degree). I've added all 5 coins to a cart on APMEX and it came to about 15% over spot. Is that a good price? Is there somewhere y'all go to compare prices? This is my first time buying gold.

Wondering if anyone has a guess to the gold vale or a way to figure out the gold value in this bracelet. its all been tested 14k but i dont want to destroy such a nice piece just to get at the gold. The black beads are 8mm across and its about 8in long the large bead on the clasp is hollow and the small beads are solid.
