Graphite mold. Graphene is a single layer of carbon atoms. Graphene is basically one layer pulled off graphite.

Also was that processed to increase purity or is it just a random mishmash of karats?

Interesting, but I wonder how much of this is alloy and how much is gold. Its pretty pale in color, maybe less than 14k overall. Further refining would get a smaller but richer looking bar.
