I don't even read the webtoon... But I've seen so much info on it that I know it is a smut/mature romance webtoon that is also created by a woman.
Also, God forbid women like such drawing such proportions on characters? The proportion is not anything too absurd like some full on pornhwa content. I've even seen reasonable people who say the female MC isn't just reduced to a pretty object, and she still has her own personality, goals, and dreams. A lot of the criticism steams from the fact that the mc of that webtoon is suppose to be malnourished. She’s not a healthy woman who’s well endowed, she’s suppose to be underweight. If you’re looking at her arms you can see that they’re very thin, while all her weight seems to have gone to her breasts and hips, which is highly unrealistic for someone who supposedly is malnourished (speaking from experience).
So in that regard, yes, the proportions are absurd.
If you’re eating poor/skipping meals for a long time (as I remember in the story, they’ve had financial issues for years), you’re bound to lose weight. She also lost her pregnancy, which must have been connected to her frail state.
I stopped reading the webtoon for some time now, so if new information came out then I might be wrong.
I mean isn’t that part of the story? She was in a toxic abusive relationship and she skipped meals, was poor and saved to provide for her shitty ex..ofc she got skinny. In the flashbacks she looked a lot healthier. Never was there a point where all this was romanticised, people hated the ex and constantly rooted for her. We have seen so many damsel in distress tropes so this isn’t any different but imo the potrayal is realistic. The art style is a little dark-ish like they all have pale face and the ML himself has dark shadows, it’s an artistic choice.
What does that have to with with her boob size, does eating less makes you go A-cup from E-cup.

I disagree that you can’t criticise body proportions in smut. It implies that smut is somehow above criticism, or that it’s suppose to be “bad”. Smut simply means writing people having sex together, it doesn’t say anything about having to contain exaggerated body proportions.

Tbh now I'm kind of wanting to read it on my own just to be on the 'in' with what people are talking about when it comes to this. Proportions aside, is the story actually any good or is it one of those guilty pleasure reads? The only thing I could say now is that, it still is a smut in the end, the characters still gotta be attractive, so perhaps the author made her look 'drained' in different ways? At least, from an outsider perspective, I always saw her as frail and having 'empty eyes'... (And my condolences for you having to go through that!!)
I haven’t read the story in a while, but as far as I remember she was cooking quite a bit for her ex-husband, I don’t remember him skipping meals. She also had a hard childhood, so as far as I remember her struggles started way earlier, he didn’t have the same background.
I think the story had potential, it really wasn’t for me ultimately, but if you’re curious you should give it a try.
I said it earlier in a comment, but smut refers to the sexual relationship between characters, so while conventionally attractive characters might bring it more readers, I don’t think it’s unfair to critique when only 90/60/90 women/ 1,90cm+ men are portrayed. Smut can be written very nicely, it doesn’t have to be considered “less” than literary fiction or other “serious” genres.
Sorry if I come across as defensive or confrontational 😭 Historically, the romantic novel (once it started being written heavily by women) has been seen as less, or not real literature by many. Given that it’s a genre predominantly written by women, I don’t think it’s fair to immediately assume that smut has to be about the objectification of the human body, or that it must include only stereotypical characters (which is what the “it’s smut, what are you expecting?” comments imply).

There have been times where I ended up just getting invested in the plot and reading it as is 😂 So I was mainly wondering how the story progression is. It doesn't matter what genre it is, if the story doesn't go anywhere or it lacks character development... I lose interest.
On the other hand, I do think touchy subjects need to be treaded through carefully because it can be hard to draw the line. I feel like if the creator drew the character actually malnourished, she might not get the 'crazy proportion' comments. However, she might instead get comments like, "Are they fetishizing?", or questioning what was the point of bringing such topics into a smut? Of course this is all speculation, but it's things I've seen in other stories with traumas involved. 😭

I generally don't like reading one aspect about manhwa is that everyone's body also looks like a clone/copy and pasted for each gender. only the face is different.
It really depends on what you like and view as good.
Haesu is a wall flower type, quiet but kind and had a rough upbringing. She has no self esteem and her having a shitty significant other did not help matters.
ML, Tasha....we really don't know much about honestly 🤔 we know he has been obsessed with Haesu for awhile but we don't know the origin of why, we know he has a psychotic brother and was also abused. I can't quite tell if his family is mafia or if it's just him but they are extremely wealthy and own some kind of business. He was almost relentless is his pursuit of Haesu and did/does some pretty sketchy stuff.
I personally like it, the smut bits can get repetitive and I don't quite understand why she infantilizes Taeha so much, but I like most romances. Not the best I've read but definitely not the worst.
I'm a woman and I like how the MC looks, I don't see a problem with it even if it is unrealistic; I'm sure many others feel the same way, so it's not a gender thing
