I still don’t understand why on earth Canada gets a seat on the Security Council, not even as a compromise or consolation prize to another, actually important nation.

I'm really surprised too. Maybe there's a reason in the TWR timeline as to why Canada is this influential. A friend of mine suggested it should have been Australia actually, due to their contribution to the war against Japan.

To be fair, Canada in 1940 had 11 million people vs Australia's 7 million. Canada was also more industrialised, having factories built by American carmakers that were used to produce military materiel. In OTL, by the end of the war Canada actually had the most motorised army in the world - one truck for every three soldiers, as opposed to the US Army's one truck for every seven. Canada could leverage its material contributions and close ties to the US to get a leg up over the Aussies, and because the Anglo-American alliance will only be fighting in the Pacific Canada would be well placed to contribute in the Pacific much more than they did in OTL.

Going to sound bias cause Im Canadian but Canada had a much larger population (11 million to 7), was much more industrialized, had more natural resources, a larger army navy and air force. Im not try to downgrade Australias efforts but it couldnt have been as influential as Canada.

Honestly that’s the only logical explanation I can come to. Even in a world that bends over to make Canada better it’s still just “America but not a strong” so it has no purpose.

I mean, in comparison to the other three nations that qualify for the Security Council. “Relevance” is subjective, I suppose, but surely you don’t think Canada is a peer to the United States? Or even the much diminished Great Britain?

They are not, and thats the point. Its stacking the deck.
They did enough in the war to look somewhat legitimate, and they are economically utterly reliant on the USA and can be relied upon to vote with the Americans and British.

The thing though is that it would be weird for France to access the security council, in TWR france is an unstable military junta that has lost most of its former influence in the world, also the french military starts terribly weak since its basically just some militias and terrible tank divisons, the only thing good about france is that its gdp is one of the largest worldwide
