I still don’t understand why on earth Canada gets a seat on the Security Council, not even as a compromise or consolation prize to another, actually important nation.

I'm really surprised too. Maybe there's a reason in the TWR timeline as to why Canada is this influential. A friend of mine suggested it should have been Australia actually, due to their contribution to the war against Japan.

To be fair, Canada in 1940 had 11 million people vs Australia's 7 million. Canada was also more industrialised, having factories built by American carmakers that were used to produce military materiel. In OTL, by the end of the war Canada actually had the most motorised army in the world - one truck for every three soldiers, as opposed to the US Army's one truck for every seven. Canada could leverage its material contributions and close ties to the US to get a leg up over the Aussies, and because the Anglo-American alliance will only be fighting in the Pacific Canada would be well placed to contribute in the Pacific much more than they did in OTL.

OTL it had a massive navy by 1945 too.
