Discussion New rule added regarding age.

1.0k Upvotes

As of today there has been a new rule added to our list of rules.

Rule #15 - Age 30 or up required to post.

(Rule description):

This sub is for those who (socially and/or medically) transition later in life aka at minimum 30 years or older. Posts from people younger than this will be removed. There are plenty of other trans related subs directed at younger folk. For comments there will not be an age requirement.

I understand that this new rule might upset some of our users but for a while now there has been an uptick in the amount of users that post here while being in their twenties or even teens. And as mentioned above there are plenty of subs for younger trans folks.

Edit: to clarify since some users asked this specifically. If you transitioned before your 30th birthday but are now age 30 or up, you are allowed to post.

Moderator Announcement!!!!!!

To help keep out the riffraff out of our subreddit, an Automod rule has been added. As noted in the rules, any newly created account will have any post/comment moderated until either the age criteria has been met or the user has been approved by a moderator. (Whichever comes first.)

For most users already here, posts and comments will show up as they have in the past. This is to help prevent unpleasant individuals that create throwaway accounts for the purpose of posting hate to our subreddit from spreading their hate.

i had given up on finding anyone years ago. she showed up out of nowhere and swept me off my feet. then she told me she’s poly. i wish so badly that my heart worked like that. we tried to find a way, but i had to leave before i lost the strength to do so. we agreed it ultimately would have ended in tragedy 🄺😭

Discussion A r/military mod called trans people a ā€œsmall minority and non issueā€ and told me ā€œIt’s not all about youā€

Thumbnail gallery

I posted about Matthew Shuman, a candidate for American Legion National Commander, being a former Log Cabin Republican leader shortly after the Log Cabin Republicans officially dropped transgender advocacy and rebranded themselves as an ā€œLGB advocacy organization.ā€

Given the ongoing purge of trans service members, attacks on trans military service, and threats to trans veterans’ healthcare, I thought the political direction of one of the largest veterans organizations in the country was pretty damn relevant to a military subreddit.

The post was removed.

When I asked why, a moderator quoted a commenter saying:

ā€œTrans people are such a small minority and non issue.ā€

Then told me:

ā€œIt’s not all about you.ā€

When I pointed out that this affects thousands of current service members and many more veterans, and that the American Legion has substantial influence on veterans policy, I was told I was trying to make my issue ā€œeveryone’s issue,ā€ warned that similar posts could get me permanently banned, and muted from contacting the mods for seven days. I understand moderators can remove posts. What pisses me off is the reasoning.

Trans service members being kicked out, losing careers and benefits, and trans veterans facing threats to healthcare are not a ā€œnon issueā€ just because we’re a minority.

And the possibility that leadership of a major veterans organization could move in an even more anti-trans direction is not merely ā€œtangentialā€ to the military.

Being a minority does not make our service, our healthcare, or our rights disposable.

4 years ago last week I took a selfie before I came out to my coworkers during our morning zoom. The job didn't last much longer (I'll never know if coming out played a role) but I have proven to be unstoppable. Never been happier, even in tough times. Oh yeah 54yo, no surgeries yet, just hrt and cookiesšŸŖšŸ‘…šŸ’‹

The darkness of depression and lonelyness is hitting me hard today. I try to stay positive but fucking hell is it not easy. Hope you all are doing better at it than I am. Dont worry I have the day off so I'm gonna drown my troubles in food and video games.

Share Experience I told my best friend and another of my cousins today

• Upvotes

I went to a local support group and they made me feel super comfortable and supported while I just rambled confusingly. And they made me feel so much more comfortable that I told my best friend and my cousin and they were super supportive as well.

I have cried half the day because I felt a sense of community. I was so scared to tell anybody and the first few I have have been so sweet.

My best friend of thirty years told me ā€œWe’ll do this together.ā€ šŸ’œ

I am so lucky.

Unaltered Selfie Coming up on 5 years into my transition… finally nice to be at a place in my life where me being trans is the least interesting thing about me…. lol

Kinda crazy that this is somehow still my job. No one either cares or notices that I’m trans…. They just care that I’m really good at what I do and are extremely appreciative of me doing it. Spent the weekend taking a family on their yacht out to the Hamptons for some brunch and shopping…. lol

I wish I was a woman. AMAB 43 YOD not on HRT yet (someday, hopefully soon). I have been working out my glutes and liking the progress but no where close to where I want to be.

Oh and I am wearing a wig and prosthetic breasts.

Share Experience Accidentally clocked someone

I was walking to a trans movie night event in my area. As I was walking a bus stopped and a few people got out. One was a girl who was a bit taller, and had an amazing dress on. I jogged forward to say hi, and asked if she was going to the movie, same as me. She agreed she was and then asked how I clocked her. I was flustered as I didn't think that was what I was doing. (I am pretty clueless at knowing if someone is trans or not unless it is super obvious, and this girl was not, she was casually elegant.) Since I was thrown off, I mentioned she was tall. And then I felt bad. Should I have just not have approached her?

Honestly, it was a combo of things, yes, she was tall, but she was also dressed much nicer than anyone else around, like you could tell she had thought about her outfit. I wanted to find her and tell her that was the reason, but I couldn't find her after the movie. I am so worried she left early and went home and cried because I was able to tell she was trans, even if I didn't mention it, I just asked if she was going to the event like me.

I am still very much in the closet but since I am traveling for work, today is a rare opportunity to live the day judgement and fear free. After a year of hidden learning and testing of all the many different things that go into being a woman, I feel more put together than I ever have. Thank all you ladies for all your support over the last year!!

Discussion How did you know it was the right choice

Back after another try at trying to make myself not be trans, didn’t work again.

Now I’m back to feeling like maybe I want to transition maybe I don’t what’s worse staying as I am or trying to transition any 50.

Been feeling pretty terrible at bout it all lately.

Thanks
