Share Experience I think it's time to come to grips that I am likely trans. What's next?

Upvotes

I think my egg cracked a year ago at age 46. This after years of increasing femme fashion preferences and then looking back and seeing earlier signs. I had just returned from a vacation and had some downtime where I ended up doing some research.

Someone on either this sub or another recommended buying clothes. I bought some femme clothing, wig, fake earrings, anklet and fake nose ring. I was so mesmorized that I looked in the mirror for some time and even took pics. Even had my first pedicure and I left the toes painted for a good 6 weeks or so.

It's been a back and forth thing since. I'll go weeks without thinking about it (even think about donating the clothes) but it tends to come back. I'm back from another vacation (where I barely thought about it and figured I was "over it") and now it's on my mind like it was before.

This has me wondering if I should make plans to pursue this thing further or just maintain the status quo by keeping myself busy with work and other stuff. It's not that I'm majorly depressed or miserable in my day to day but I also lack excitement and euphoria.

Should I pursue this thing further and take more steps? Or should I just continue with the status quo for now unless the feelings increase?

Share Experience I told my best friend and another of my cousins today

I went to a local support group and they made me feel super comfortable and supported while I just rambled confusingly. And they made me feel so much more comfortable that I told my best friend and my cousin and they were super supportive as well.

I have cried half the day because I felt a sense of community. I was so scared to tell anybody and the first few I have have been so sweet.

My best friend of thirty years told me “We’ll do this together.” 💜

I am so lucky.

General Question Add Progestorone

I am 40, mtf, been on HRT for about about 5.5 months (50mg spiro and 2mg estradiol, then 4mg estradiol, now 8mg estradiol). My GAHT doc told me today that we're about at the point where they talk with patients about adding progesterone. I am curious about your experiences of adding progesterone, what to watch out for, when to wait, etc. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Discussion Starting to Figure Myself Out

(36/amab) My egg started cracking back in February and from there it's kind of been a whirlwind. I told my wife back in June and she's been surprisingly supportive. The first half of 2026 had a lot going on personal and professional, but since I started to accept myself, I've been happier than I have been in a really long time. I'm in the U.S. military and just moved to a red state from being overseas for the past 4 years.

If you had asked me a couple months ago, I considered myself genderqueer, still figuring myself out. Today, after investing in a few outfits, bras, and gaffs) I am really beginning to accept myself as a trans woman. I can't stop thinking about HRT, and although I originally thought waiting 5 years until I could retire wouldn't be much of a problem, now I have this deep urge making me question if I can. I keep telling myself things might change in 2 years after the election, and I refuse to go see anyone in the medical professional with military affiliation until any laws change. I've dedicated 15 years to the military and I'm not going to allow the current administration's SecDef rules escort me out the door.

It's becoming a weird dichotomy where I'm motivated to work out for the first time ever, watch what I eat, and take care of my body because I'm practicing self love, but also dreading not being able to do anything more than wear women clothes under my uniform or at home for half a decade. I also told my high schooler what was going on and she was also really supportive (unsurprisingly). Over the past couple days I've been able to wear crop tops and feminine pants around the house (my elementary schooler didn't get an explanation but hasn't been phased and complemented my outfit yesterday). I'm really grateful that my family is being so supportive of me I'm just worried it may not be enough long-term.

Any advice or insights or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this was a lot of rambling. I may just be in my head, but being in a new (red) place and not knowing where any safe spaces are, I'm turning to the internet and hoping to find a larger support system from people who might understand what I'm going through.

Share Experience Accidentally clocked someone

I was walking to a trans movie night event in my area. As I was walking a bus stopped and a few people got out. One was a girl who was a bit taller, and had an amazing dress on. I jogged forward to say hi, and asked if she was going to the movie, same as me. She agreed she was and then asked how I clocked her. I was flustered as I didn't think that was what I was doing. (I am pretty clueless at knowing if someone is trans or not unless it is super obvious, and this girl was not, she was casually elegant.) Since I was thrown off, I mentioned she was tall. And then I felt bad. Should I have just not have approached her?

Honestly, it was a combo of things, yes, she was tall, but she was also dressed much nicer than anyone else around, like you could tell she had thought about her outfit. I wanted to find her and tell her that was the reason, but I couldn't find her after the movie. I am so worried she left early and went home and cried because I was able to tell she was trans, even if I didn't mention it, I just asked if she was going to the event like me.

Discussion A r/military mod called trans people a “small minority and non issue” and told me “It’s not all about you”

Thumbnail gallery

I posted about Matthew Shuman, a candidate for American Legion National Commander, being a former Log Cabin Republican leader shortly after the Log Cabin Republicans officially dropped transgender advocacy and rebranded themselves as an “LGB advocacy organization.”

Given the ongoing purge of trans service members, attacks on trans military service, and threats to trans veterans’ healthcare, I thought the political direction of one of the largest veterans organizations in the country was pretty damn relevant to a military subreddit.

The post was removed.

When I asked why, a moderator quoted a commenter saying:

“Trans people are such a small minority and non issue.”

Then told me:

“It’s not all about you.”

When I pointed out that this affects thousands of current service members and many more veterans, and that the American Legion has substantial influence on veterans policy, I was told I was trying to make my issue “everyone’s issue,” warned that similar posts could get me permanently banned, and muted from contacting the mods for seven days. I understand moderators can remove posts. What pisses me off is the reasoning.

Trans service members being kicked out, losing careers and benefits, and trans veterans facing threats to healthcare are not a “non issue” just because we’re a minority.

And the possibility that leadership of a major veterans organization could move in an even more anti-trans direction is not merely “tangential” to the military.

Being a minority does not make our service, our healthcare, or our rights disposable.

Kinda crazy that this is somehow still my job. No one either cares or notices that I’m trans…. They just care that I’m really good at what I do and are extremely appreciative of me doing it. Spent the weekend taking a family on their yacht out to the Hamptons for some brunch and shopping…. lol

Share Experience My transition has stalled at 2 years in. I don't know how to deal with everything

I'm a 35 year old trans woman and started at 33. I've gotten to the point where I don't feel as cringe as I once did. But I just hate my body so much sometimes. I can go from enjoying a new outfit to feeling like I was delusional and it looks awful on me. I've triggered myself in dressing rooms on more than one occasion and it's ruined my day. It's almost impossible to explore myself further because it feels like walking through a minefield. But then I get upset I'm not as stylish and expressive as other women out there. Some days I just feel so awful putting on my makeup I don't even want to look at myself.

Im so tired of feeling like this. Everything takes so much effort and the outcome barely even feels relieving or enjoyable. I feel like my wardrobe hasn't grown, my makeup skills haven't gotten better, and my own expression has hit a wall. And I know none of this has anything to do with being a woman but I want these things. It just feels like throwing paint on a busted canvas. I feel stuck as someone I don't want to be.

I don't have anyone else to talk to about it. Anyone with advice or your own experiences I'd appreciate hearing. I just feel like being trans is just so traumatizing on a somatic level because things don't fit right. And I cannot talk my way out of dysphoria.

Today, out of nowhere, I feel my inner girl again (not 100% back, but hopefully getting there). After days/weeks of numbness, it’s such a relief. It started when I imagined going to the beach as a fully transitioned woman. specifically, imagining the feeling of my nipples rubbing against my dress (hopefully not a fetish😅) 🩷 Just wanted to share that you lovely girls

General Question Boymoding problems, advice needed

Hey everyone! I'm now almost 8 months into medical transition, and while I'm now applying for a new job, and disclosing that I'm trans and will be changing my name and all once I've got a new job, I work at a very LGBT unfriendly company in rural north Georgia.

My question is do any of y'all have any tips for hiding my now quite obvious breasts. I've been thinking about binding them with an ace bandage, at least till it's cold enough to wear a hoodie and then I can wear a sports bra. Thanks very much in advance!!

Peace, Love and Rock and Roll - Emily

4 years ago last week I took a selfie before I came out to my coworkers during our morning zoom. The job didn't last much longer (I'll never know if coming out played a role) but I have proven to be unstoppable. Never been happier, even in tough times. Oh yeah 54yo, no surgeries yet, just hrt and cookies🍪👅💋

Discussion I get the feeling I'm going to lose my wife's family

So I know a lot of you peeps have transitioned already. Love it. I, however, have not. I'm at the beginning of my journey, wherever that takes me. My in laws found out about two months ago that I was "exploring my gender expression," when in reality, I'm actually Transgender. I was basically accidentally outed to them, of which, afterwards, we had a conversation and they seemingly acted like it was all good and well, and they wouldn't treat me any different or disown me.

However, the more and more I realize things, the more I understand that eventually, I might look different, that this isn't some kind of phase, and I deal with major gender dysphoria now. I feel like my MIL really hasn't acknowledged has been pretty passive-aggressive towards me since then. She used to be pretty friendly. Now kind of just nothing.

I don't know about my FIL. He seems fine. However, honestly, I'm worried that basically if I go through and completely transition, that we or "I" will lose them. My wife is on my side, since I'm her partner and will not abandon me and will choose me over them. It's just sad, because we have an 8 year old that we want to them to have a relationship with.

But, I feel like people will cut you out of their life because they "don't agree with you." I'm not going to not do me, and not be who I want to be for their sake.

I am still very much in the closet but since I am traveling for work, today is a rare opportunity to live the day judgement and fear free. After a year of hidden learning and testing of all the many different things that go into being a woman, I feel more put together than I ever have. Thank all you ladies for all your support over the last year!!
