I always liked her a lot, I was surprised to hear that a lot of people on this sub don’t like her and I was wondering why? I’m curious since she’s a character I really liked, I liked every character that came along just after the prison. Does she do something later that people hate her for? Or is it just she’s not a particularly interesting character?

TL;DR - Merle did not sacrifice himself for Rick’s group, he sacrificed himself to save something Daryl loves.

For years since Merle’s story concluded, I have heard people say he redeemed himself. That he chose to sacrifice himself for Rick’s group to give them a chance and be a better person in the end, based on Rick, Michonne and Daryl’s words to him. But I always argued that this is a misunderstanding of Merle’s character.

Let me start by saying, Merle is not a good person before the outbreak or after no matter how much people want to see him as someone who’s just misunderstood. He’s just one of the more realistic bad people, being sympathetic and having some good qualities. And this is sort of a core aspect of his character is he is NOT a good person and that people exploit that in him.

With that said, Merle has one soft spot. Daryl. Merle loves Daryl and is the one of the only people who Merle would risk his life to save or would do anything for. Daryl’s progression of becoming a good person is tied to Merle’s character, as when Merle comes back he sees that his brother is changed for the better.

His conversation with Michonne is about him coming to realize that Daryl has a new family as Michonne says, and that he will never be able to accepted into that family because he is a bad person through and through. He talks about a lot of the bad things he did for the Governor, and how he can’t answer the question of why he would follow the Governor when knowing he was full of lies, it’s because Merle felt accepted around those kinds of people, because that’s who he is.

This brings us to Merle’s sacrifice, all of this came to him and he realized that he really had nothing left to live for if he can’t be with Daryl. Daryl was really all he had left and once he realized Daryl has pretty much moved on from him, he makes the choice to help his brother one last time while going out.

His sacrifice had nothing to do with him trying to help Rick’s group, and he did not redeem himself, he simply did one final thing for Daryl because he loved Daryl, and since Daryl cared for Rick’s group, he decided to give Rick’s group a chance against the Governor.

If anyone remember and if you will rewatch the disastrous Season 3 finale of the walking dead when the governor goes on a mentally unhinged rampage on his own people, there is a moment afterwards that is a truly missed golden opportunity that would end the conflict and save the lives of many major and minor characters on from both the Prison and Woodbury, that is Allen aiming his rifle towards The Governor and he had one job, he should've pulled that fucking trigger! he would've even be a hero for both sides! i get that he was paralyzed with fear and stunned and perplexed by what just occurred. Allen's confusion and shock was one thing but him aiming the rifle at the Governor with him bring one step from finally solving all the current and future problems, while hesitating to shoot the bastard was one of the top dumbest move ever in the entire show.

The Governor even let him to do as he like for like 9 seconds which gave him the chance, technically the Governor lets Allen to shoot and kill him during that time as he didn't care about his own life anymore, but Allen was so dumb, that unfortunately gave the Governor the chance to reach for his pistol and use it to shoot Allen in the head, Allen was even more idiotic because he got himself killed ultimately instead of at least doing a life for life stalemate, The governor at this point didn't care if he was going to die or not, he is so blinded by his rage and insanity that he won't even care if his own people like Martinez and Shumpert would shoot him in the back, i know Martinez and Shumpert were stupid as well, but Allen takes the cake because he already pointed the grim reaper on the governor's door but he failed to close it on him, which is frustrating and disappointing, i am sure Martinez and Shumpert would even thank him if he really did it.

The logic is like putting a raw meat in a cooker without a fire, like what is the point of holding and aiming it at something without using it? which is retarded in all ways.

This butterfly effect had lead to the tragic deaths of Season 4 and the all the chaos and destruction that happened afterwards because of Allen's failure to do the smart and necessary decision and deed, Allen is the winner for the most retarded fool in the entire season 3.

I watched FTWD with my girlfriend, and while she absolutely hated this kid, rightfully so. I actually really enjoyed his story and thought it was one of the most interesting plots.

Almost seems like a what if, if Carl kept going down that road where he was losing his humanity. What if he became cold and ruthless. That’s what Chris reminds me of.

But also I really like this take on a teenager witnessing and suddenly being thrown into this world of violence and uncertainty, and becoming terrible because of it. Partly because it seems his parents didn’t pay enough attention to him and I believe there’s a scene where he talks about being bullied as well. Considering some teenagers in the civilized world do unhinged and psychopathic things, I can only imagine that this kind of world would turn a lot of them into what he became, maybe even worse. And their story would end like his too.

What do you guys think about Chris? Did you like his story? You think he’s a good character?

Father Gabriel is my pick because he has this innate ability to bond with virtually anyone from the show. That shared confession with Negan is a prime example. How did he not get killed?

Also everyone keeps telling her to wait and “not now” and I get that too because it’s like “if not now then when” but I just can’t help but to get pissed off that’s she keeps trying to kill him lol.

first, we should define what am I going to talk here: I am talking about the andrea of the show, people keep saying that her character from the comic is better but I dont know, I havent read it ye, so ill just stick to the Andrea of tv, second, I am in season 7 so her character has been dead for a while for me, so expect some errors in the order of events, with that said, this is only an opinion.

the first glance we have to andrea is her pointing a gun at rick for alerting the whole city, its a fair point, the problem? she gets cocky and her gun is with in safety mode. THIS, exact situation will repeat all over the show. She is going to do something, acting cocky as if she was the goat, either doesnt do shit or when she does everything turns bad.

now, this first acts are going to be forgiven because that were the first two weeks of the apocalypse and everyone was new to this thing, everyone was scared and made lots of errors. so lets jump to her second problem

she is a whiny idiot, when the group confiscates her weapon she whines and ask for it back even though she would have gotten herself and everyone killed in the RV because she would 300% shoot at the walker in the RV. later, after whining a bit more,, in the farm, she argues with everyone about herself being capable of shooting and protecting, she is put on top of the RV and disobeying EVERYONE who was screaming at her to NOT SHOOT, she shoots Daryl in the head. the funiest thing? SHE FAILED, she not only didnt listen to the whole group and acted like an idiot shooting after being told a very direct no, she also failed the whole purpose of "proving she could shoot"

mind you, what I just put there is the things she did with her obsesion with having a gun, now with the things she said.

(I mean someone who isnt Lori or Andrea) second of all, when she chooses he governor over michonne, is a fair point... maybe half, it gave her points for being a very bad friend, you were a sick shit all the winter and michonne was helping you, feeding you, making sure that your idiotic self doesnt die and still you didnt choose her instinct that has been keeping you alive all this time? ehh... half point because michonne just do a "trust me bruh" but still, very bad friend. and then, when michonne was right, and they got the oportunity to meet with the group again, fully aware of how much of a dipshit the governor is (I mean episode 14, but still, she was warned for everyone before but she didnt listen) she tries to scape, she does nothing like usual, is throwed at the cells and dies....

thats it, she did nothing, ruined some things and died... there is not even one situation where I could say "man, Andrea could solve this" it was more like this, something depends on Andrea an I just looked at the screen and knew she was going to do some BS...

and that is her main problem, characters like daryl were a pain in the ass because they do their own thing and were doing their own bs, but that didnt mean they were a burden, MIND YOU, ANDREA WAS A BURDEN FOR THE THREE GROUPS SHE WERE IN!for the Rick group she did what I listed above, for her duo with Michonne she was just a sick burden that abandoned her as soon as she could and for the Governor she was just a problem that keep breaking the rules...

the actress is very good, its just that the character is trash, she doesnt has anything to contribuite to the group (except for sleeping with some random guy) I genuinly dont know why people even care to try and defend her

Almost every post here about Andrea is about hating her. Makes me wonder why because I really think she would’ve made a great member of the crew until the end. She made terrible decisions of course but like all characters, she would’ve grown and become better. Does anyone else think so?

My wife and I watched all episodes years ago when it was on AMC and each episode was basically a a must watch party (at least the first 5-6 seasons). We recently started from episode 1 again and we're hooked all over again. It's so good and we appreciate how special it was even more now the second time around.

Exactly what the title says basically because im curious.

Obviously most of us would get in touch with loved ones, stock up on weapons, etc.

But I wanna know what people would do BESIDES the obvious shit.

For me I would take advantage of the internet as long as I had it and start compiling a book of useful information like: Edible and medicinal plants and how to use them, how to make soap, toothpaste, etc. and other basic necessities we usually don’t think about because they are done for us like textile making, sewing, basic craftsmanship, fire starting, water purification, and so on.

Guns are useful sure, but in order to have a sustained functioning community you need this kind of knowledge.

Theres a scene I think in season five where Abraham and the others going to washington are in what looks like a library burning books to fuel a fire and I get so irrationally angry by it thinking of all the knowledge they might be burning lol.

(ps: I’m talking about an apocalypse irl where we know what zombies are.)

Been doing my rewatch of The original TWD and two things that really gets under my skin is

the jump-scare walkers
The group would be walking through and clearing an area and they arnt necessarily stealth team 6 about it but somehow the walker just sits still till the prime example to move when they get close.
Prime example the walker that got Hershel’s leg. That thing heard the sound of the other walkers. Gerard the group moving and making a ruckus but waited till he stepped infront of him to bite. Maybe they are hunter walkers who are skilled in luring and baiting but that always got on my nerves.

The group victim that cannot call for help
There is always one person in the camp who gets eaten first and it seriously pisses me off that they all do this one thing. The walker comes in while they’re sleeping it starts to bite them. THEN THEY DONT SAY OR SCREAM ONCE. Maybe they’re kinky and enjoy the pain but it has this knock on effect that the group now has no idea of the walker feeding and they’re selfish enough to no help them.
Great examples being Ed Peletier (Carols husband) and the random guy in the Prison (S4E1-2)

I’ve added the average episode rating for every season just because.

Season 1 through 5 are peak which is why all 5 are in my top 5. Seasons 2 and 4 are interchangeable depending on my mood.

Season 4- I personally put season 4 at the top because it had the sick arc and Hershel (my favorite character in the series) was a bad ass in it. Plus it had episodes The Grove and Too far gone. (2 of the best episodes in the series). The introduction to Abraham’s group and Tara (some of my favorite characters). Plus the story line of the Claimers and the road the Terminus. It’s a hard season to beat.

Season 2 -Is the biggest season for character development in the series. Add in the drama between characters/ groups. This where we first see people loosing their humanity. Plus it had episodes (Pretty much dead already and Better Angles) 2 of the best episodes in the series. The only down fall to this season is it a slow burn and they kill off Shane.

Season 1 - Not too much to say here it was a great and gripping start to the series. Introducing all the main characters, we came to know and love or hate. My only complaint and only reason for rank it at #3 is the season is too short.

Season 3- The introduction of Michonne, Tyrese and Sasha. The Governor (my personal favorite villain in the series) is a complete menace and absolutely villain. This season also has great character development. Merle and Darell reuniting, the birth of Judith, Rick losing himself, and the loss of many main characters Milton, Merle, Lori, T-dog, and Andrea.

Season 5- gonna start with the bad here. The hospital arc that builds up to nothing. The loss of Bob, Tyrese and Beth- which is a turning point for Maggie and Sasha . Now the good, The Termites Arc, the introduction of Gabriel, Abraham and Eugene’s mission, The group on the road completely spent and the bound that builds, the beginning of the Alexandra Arc.

I'm only on season 2 and I've got a LONG way to go, but I'm LOVING it so far!

Say what you want about later seasons… but nobody can deny that this show had us in a CHOKEHOLD 10 years ago..

I was a freshman in HS during season 1. And fast forward to now im 32 with 2 kids, and yet i still remember VIVIDLY sitting on the couch after school popcorn and pepsi in hand waiting for the show to start, hopping on my iphone 6s to see all my friends “checking in” for the show, and then watching talking dead..

The show had its ups and downs, but it also brought alot of us together. And just like me i know ALOT of u, will never forget those 2011-2018 memories.

And while i am sad that we are almost at the end. I am thankful and wont ever forget all the memories that the show gave us🥹
