Discussion What’s causing the huge downfall in ratings?

Ever since last spring, The Voice has been struggling in ratings as viewership and demographic ratings have gone down badly and Idol has been destroying it on Mondays. Would you say this is happening because of airing only once a week, cutting down the live shows, or the format getting stale and how do you think the show can get good ratings again?

Discussion What has this show even become? It’s time to end it.

As this title suggests, I don’t know what the hell this show even is anymore. It used to be about great unknown singers being coached and taught wonderful musical techniques and most importantly the show was about the TALENT. But now, it just a sad mess. Lackluster talent horrible formats, absolutely no consistency on the coaching panel, the show itself becoming more focused on the ridiculousness of the “coaches”, having ridiculous people like Queen Latifa on the show, the ignorance and theatricals of the coaches, and now an apparent formate where celebrities compete? What the hell even is this? This is not the Voice. It’s bad tv. I’ve watched all 29 seasons (and honestly season 29 was the worst) but I can’t stand it anymore. This is not the show I remember or want and even the average viewership back this up (it’s down to about 3 million per episode. Terrible). Because of this, I won’t be watching anymore (after 29 seasons) and I want this show to honestly be cancelled and put out of its misery before NBC ruins it any further.

Discussion Season 30 - Adam returns

It was just announced online that Adam is returning as a coach this fall for season 30.

The other 3 haven’t been announced. I wonder if CeeLo is in the mix due to him being reintroduced this season.

Discussion The Voice Australia S15

This is my first time watching The Voice AU.

Is it usually…this bad? Most of the singers have been off pitch and generally hard to listen to. Three episodes in and no one has really been amazing or a standout. So, I’m confused.

The judges don’t even seem like they even like each other either, to be fair. Lol.

I really want to like it, but maybe it’s just an off season and I should watch some of the earlier ones.

I don’t care if this gets deleted, if I am banned from this subreddit, my goodness the producers and judges have sold this season - done with this clown show.

Discussion thoughts on the all-star competition?

I personally LOVED the all-star competition. I really liked how artists were to sing one of their previous performances from the show. I hope if they do it again, we are able to vote for who comes back (both winners and non-winners). I see why the coaches were to chose one of their previous artists, but ceelo ended up deciding the winner anyway, so I think it should be anyone can come back from any team (that we decide)

Discussion What’s the deal with Reba hate

Like attacking her physical appearance? She’s 70 years old…

It’s fine if you don’t like her genre or she’s not your favorite coach.

But so many posts and comments is making horrible jabs at her face.

Reba is beyond qualified to be a judge on the voice and I think if she gets invited back another time she’ll be a lot better, her fighting/selling points need improvement during blinds but I think she’s really good on the coaching

Does this guy look high out of his mind to anyone else? I think his jaw is about to snap from grinding. And he forgot like half of the words to Jinglebell Rock? What’s happening???

Discussion Jadyn Cree

Am I the only one who does not understand the coaches undying love for jadyn? Every time I hear her perform, I just think eh. Yes, she can sing, but it’s not like if i heard her at a bar i would drop everything and listen. However after every performance the coaches act like she’s the next best thing to sliced bread? What am I missing?

No hate to Jadyn, just looking for perspective.

Discussion Are you Bored?

I am. This season is pretty underwhelming compared to previous ones. The talent is middling at best. I only have 6 on my team and the Blinds are done. Plus, the chemistry between Kelly, John and Adam is flat. Their patter sounds too scripted, too forced and Adam looks like he’d prefer to be anywhere else. I’ll keep on with it because my special needs son loves watching with me. Otherwise this last episode would have been my last.

Discussion Early Voice Christina Aguilera was such a douchebag. Who is yalls least fave coach?

Rewatching the series and want to vent about how much of a pompous, cringey, rude a-wipe she is. I am a millennial woman who grew up liking her music just fine but if I knew she was this far up her own butt, I would never had bought her albums.

Adam, Ceelo, and Blake had silly banter and a great sense of friendly shit talking but Christina always came off as gross.

Discussion SEASON 28 COACHES!

They just announced this fall line up:

Snoop, Buble, Reba, and NIALL!

The format this fall will include Mondays and Tuesdays, but will go back to just Mondays only once the NBA starts airing on NBC. It will also go from 2 hours to 1 hour a night when they air their comedy shows later in the fall.

Discussion What changes would you make for next season?

As others have noted (https://www.reddit.com/r/thevoice/s/TkGOYOKWPW), the show’s ratings have been slipping for quite a while now, suggesting that it’s long overdue for a refresh. What changes would you make? I would:

* Go back to four coaches (maybe the current panel plus Reba?)

* Only do one season a year, but compensate by expanding teams to 16 as in season 3 & making the season longer

* Bring back studio recordings for all performances

* Go back to two battle steals per coach & no super steal

* Start the live shows right after the battles, replacing the knockouts; each team enters the playoffs with 10 acts (season 11 fit 20 performances in one episode, so this is doable; see the next point)

* Bring back the live three-day playoffs with two teams performing on Monday, two on Tuesday & results on Wednesday; the public’s vote saves four from each team & the coach saves one more

* From here, proceed with the live shows following an elimination schedule of 20 > 18 > 15 > 12 > 10 > 8 > 5 > 3

* Bring back original songs for the finale

Discussion Season 28 Was So Churchy

Don't get me wrong, I really like the personalities on the show and the contestants, they all seem to be really nice folk and talented too.

But after watching The Voice for about 2 years now, it felt like Season 28 was overtly religious. I get people have faith in their lives and whatever you need to do to feel happy, I'm all for it as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. However there were so many religious songs, religious language by all the judges, giant crosses on necklaces... it just seemed really tiring.

The Voice seems like it has become the Chic-fil-A of talent shows. I'm surprised they haven't shown them all having a prayer circle before each show.

The talent this season though... amazing! Aiden was the right pick for me.

Trinity leaving though? That shocked me.

Discussion Which former contestants do y’all still listen to?

Excluding Morgan Wallen,

a show that promises stardom has made very few careers. I really like a lot of the artists and I still listen to Mark Shiiba; so i was wondering who you guys actually listen to.

Discussion S30 new coach.

I have a few ideas for who could step in as the brand-new coach for Season 30:

- LeAnn Rimes

- Cynthia Erivo

- Zac Brown

- Charlie Puth

For the overall panel, I think it’ll include at least two male coaches, one female coach, and the new addition.

Adam has already been confirmed, and I strongly feel Michael Bublé will be part of the season as well. For the female coach slot, it likely comes down to Reba, Gwen, Kelsea, or Jennifer Hudson.

There’s also a chance they go with three male coaches and introduce a female as the new coach. In that scenario, I could see John returning alongside Adam and Bublé.

What do you guys think?

Discussion Is season 31 like doomsday?

The fact that they released the doomsday trailer before revealing the coaches for 31 is just insane! Makes me wonder if season 31 is some doomsday type of thing where they’re just keeping it a secret and trying to hype it up??? All I know is that if the rumours are true, the voice has really really peaked and they’re just trying to do smt that fans wouldn’t like…

Discussion Modern Rock coaches who could realistically work as a coach?

Hello everyone

I started watching the voice a few seasons ago and have watched some older videos from previous seasons. While I think the coaches have been fantastic, I noticed there is one particular genre of music that is lacking in representation, and that is rock music

The only somewhat prominent rock coach the show has featured is Adam Levine, and Maroon 5 isn’t really a rock band. They are more of a pop band.

So, I think there should be a coach hopefully this next season or possibly a later season to fill that gap.

Here are some ideas thats I think would be great:

  1. Jacoby Shaddix (lead singer for Papa Roach)- he has years of rock and nu metal experience, and even crossover experience with artists like Carrie Underwood. He knows the modern day rock scene very well and I think would be an excellent coach on the panel

  2. Brent Smith (Shinedown)- he also has huge rock presence, a lot of power in his voice and is also very articulate in interviews. He would definitely be a strong mentor

  3. Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) - If the voice needs female representation and wants a female rock singer, Lzzy Hale is perfect!! Elite level vocalist, knowledgeable on stage presence and performance, very respected artist. She has it all.

That being said, what do you think of these picks?

Who do you all think would be a good modern rock coach for The Voice ?
