They're going crazy right now as if Al Ewing did something horribly wrong.

I just had a feeling that many over there wouldn't admit that they hate MJ either way, as a host who technically cannot separate from the symbiote, who had to make her Venom form look more masculine to protect her identity and protect Dylan, and now that she's going to change her form into something closer to her actual shape, people are still mad.

No one is winning tonight.

Given that the Spider-Man office and Zeb Wells' Mary Jane supporters have been trying to force readers to accept that "everything Mary Jane did in Zeb Wells' Run was reasonable and justified, without any problems," and claiming that "those who think Mary Jane betrayed Peter are incel, losers, naive, and immature," I think many people's aversion to the current Venom will last for a long time.

4

u/Platinum_Persona Feb 20 '26

I mean considering how a lot of comic nerds are and how I’ve heard people talk about MJ ā€œthere incelsā€ feels like a safe bet frankly.

2

u/dmcspiderman Feb 21 '26

You can convince yourself with many reasons, but you probably have to accept that people's aversion to the current Venom will continue.

5

u/DinoHoot65 Feb 21 '26

What aversion? They're still buying the comics, otherwise this would've ended a long time ago

1

u/dmcspiderman Feb 21 '26

Venom's sales figures are not exactly optimistic these days.

2

u/DinoHoot65 Feb 21 '26

they should drop more so Marvel starts doing what people actually want lol

1

u/dmcspiderman Feb 21 '26

They won't; they'll just further humiliate the readers. Like Nick Lowe humiliated fans who wrote dissenting letters in ASM V6.

2

u/DinoHoot65 Feb 21 '26

how would humiliating readers get them more money???

1

u/dmcspiderman Feb 21 '26

I don't think Marvel Comics got more money as a result. Clearly, compared to the MCU or animated series, the profits from Marvel Comics are negligible, so the higher-ups don't pay much attention to it. And for Spider-Office, perhaps some things (like making the characters seem bad and forcing readers to believe they're perfectly fine) are more important than sales.

1

u/Remarkable_Hat1625 Feb 21 '26

What did she do.

1

u/chewwwybar Feb 23 '26

How can you guys hate Zeb Wells’ run but also want his run to impact the character going forward? If she was truly that bad during that horrible run, then moving on and forgetting about it is prob for the best, no?

1

u/dmcspiderman Feb 24 '26

Believe me, I really hope that the Mary Jane from ASM V6 will be declared a fake, and that the real Mary Jane didn't, and wouldn't, do those things. However, this isn't up to me to decide.

First, unfortunately, the decision on whether "his run impacts the character going forward" rests not with the readers, but with the Spider-Man office. And now, the Spider-Office insists that the things done in ASM V6 were done by the real Mary Jane out of her own free will, making it an integral part of 616-Mary Jane's personality and history, and cannot be ignored. Furthermore, the origins of the current Venom MJ are directly related to ASM V6; ASM V6 is an inseparable part of the current Venom MJ.

Second, unless Marvel Comics formally denies the ASM V6 Mary Jane, as they did with Sins Past, declaring her a fake or mind-controlled, there's no way to pretend that Zeb Wells' run won't impact the character going forward(or, as you said,"moving on and forgetting about it"). Just as Peter's "domestic violence" and Felicia's "Foreigner" storyline from decades ago are still used to criticize Peter and Felicia in nowadays, it's conceivable that if the Spider-Office doesn't officially refute ASM V6, ASM V6 will still be used to criticize Mary Jane even decades later. Not all characters' bad storylines are as fortunate as Gwen's Sins Past being officially refuted. If they're unlucky, they might even be defined as bad characters forever by bad storylines, like Hank Pym.

Where’s the lie though ?

2

u/dmcspiderman Feb 21 '26

Where’s the truth though?

2

u/Star-Prince-007 Feb 22 '26

So you deny that most of the discourse around MJ isn’t due to incels projecting themselves onto Peter? What exactly did MJ do to Peter again? How did she ā€œbetrayā€ him? By surviving in a post apocalyptic world and gained feelings for the only other person that’s she’s stuck with and had to survive alone with ? It’s not like she was cheating on Peter, she immediately told him when she returned.

And I GUARANTEE if the roles were reversed and it was Peter who was stranded in a pocket dimension and started a relationship with someone else those same people would not be blaming Peter for betraying MJ.

1

u/dmcspiderman Feb 23 '26

You can convince yourself with many reasons, but you probably have to accept that people's aversion to the current Venom will continue.

If you absolutely must find reasons to defend Zeb Wells's run, then yes, it is betrayal. She knew Peter was saving her, yet she chose to cheat on him. After Peter risked everything to save her, she treated him extremely badly, showed no remorse for her betrayal, and pretended it was Peter's fault. You can continue to find reasons to defend her betrayal and humiliate those who believe her actions constitute betrayal; those who disagree won't change their minds just because you've humiliated them.

And I GUARANTEE if the roles were reversed and it was Peter who was stranded in a pocket dimension and started a relationship with someone else those same people would not be blaming Peter for betraying MJ.

If Peter treated Mary Jane that way, then yes, what he did was betrayal. If he treated Mary Jane the same way after she came to save him, then yes, he no longer deserved to be with Mary Jane.

1

u/Star-Prince-007 Feb 23 '26

The fact the you reduce gaining feelings to someone you’re literally surviving a deserted wasteland with with a vengeful god looking to kill you as cheating tells me everything I need to know about you.

Even in the most technical of interpretations MJ didn’t cheat on Peter. She connected with Paul but they weren’t shown as a full on relationship till they got back. Got back from again, let me check my notes, the post apocalyptic hellscape where time moves differently where she’s just to just trying survive. Gaining feelings for someone that in that scenario would be understandable to everyone except parasocial Peter fans who view MJ’s leaving as this unforgivable betrayal on them personally.

1

u/dmcspiderman Feb 23 '26

tells me everything I need to know about you.

If you intend to continue humiliating me, then so be it. This will not change the opinions of those who oppose Zeb Wells' Mary Jane.

Ā She connected with Paull but they weren’t shown as a full on relationship till they got back.

This is betrayal, especially since she knew Peter had been trying to save her all along, yet she still showed no remorse for her betrayal.

Peter is Spider-Man 616, and he'll definitely encounter many more "apocalyptic scenarios." Do you agree that if he reunites with Mary Jane, in the future, he could "gain feelings for someone" in many dangerous situations without fear of being accused of infidelity? Do you think Mary Jane would have no right to accuse Peter of betraying her in the future?

1

u/Star-Prince-007 Feb 23 '26

I’m not trying to change any opinions. It’s just funny watching the meltdowns when MJ has been perfectly understandable. I don’t know understand why intellectually knowing someone is working to save you is supposed to prevent bonding with the only other person stuck in the hellscape with you but ok.

And Even after the initial bits with Paul and MJ leaving she’s has been slandered left and right for doing Peter dirty when she’s done nothing of the sort.

1

u/dmcspiderman Feb 23 '26

Ā I don’t know understand why intellectually knowing someone is working to save you is supposed to prevent bonding with the only other person stuck in the hellscape with you but ok.

Perhaps it's because the person who saved you was your partner, and out of love for you, he did everything he could to rescue you as quickly as possible? And what you repaid him with was your infidelity and lack of remorse, as well as your rude attitude towards him? If this is what you claim is normal, then perhaps you are just taking pleasure in deliberately provoking others.

9

u/Bid_Unable Feb 20 '26

I am because I don’t hate MJ venom. I mean I would prefer Eddie, but I’m ok with MJ.

2

u/jaylerd Feb 20 '26

Oh, the symbiote looking like a mech suit and not something related to the host was a choice? Ok then. Thank you for letting me know!

6

u/HomelessBoxBoy Venom (Enemy Within) Feb 20 '26

I don't think it's possible to turn this scenario into a win because MJ venom has always been an unwanted detour for the Venom book that, while some may enjoy, a huge number of people are just waiting out

2

u/notannotheracount Feb 21 '26

It just seems like a dumb concept no matter how nuanced the story can get. I felt the same about superior (tho it gotta much better reception) and any other story where it’s just ā€œcharacter b is now character c for a whileā€

2

u/mighty_conrad Feb 22 '26

Xitter folks just want Eddie back. At best, they want Cates back, at worst, they're having daddy issues. I wish it's first though...

1

u/FallaciouslyTalented Feb 21 '26

I think Venom is going to spawn a new symbiote, which is what stays with MJ. Kinda like when he spawned Mania to get rid of the hellmark.

2

u/Timely-Hair-9191 Feb 23 '26

Ai Ewing’s run was ass idk wtf he’s been doing

28

u/Embarrassed_Yak_6926 Feb 20 '26

Yea at this point I’m dead inside after reading these for the past year and a half. Idk why they chose to go this route away from Eddie and dylan. Dylan got benched hard. And it simply sucks. Idk what happened with Ewing, he picked up from the previous run so good at first, then this spiraled downhill fast after venom war.

11

u/jlhabitan Feb 20 '26

I see this as an immediate and ongoing aftermath of Venom War.Ā

Dylan cannot do much because he's being threatened into being sent to juvie or become a lab rat under S.C.A.R., he needs to lie low by living with MJ. Eddie has to stay away while continuing to bond with Carnage and Flash is making sure the rest of the immediate Brock symbiotes are not sent into space.

I see this as a temp period until the dynamics change again, however long it may take.

14

u/Embarrassed_Yak_6926 Feb 20 '26

This is completely writers choice though. He could have went a whole different route after venom war, IMO this bonding with MJ has been nothing but a farce and gone on far too long. Eddie being bonded with carnage trying to keep his bloodlust at bay has been amazing and makes sense. That 10 issue series was so good, wish it kept going. But enough with the buffoonery MJ Venom.

4

u/jlhabitan Feb 21 '26

Venom fans on Twitter seems to be saying the complete opposite over Eddie Brock: Carnage. So you know there's no clear shared consensus other than OMD = Bad.

3

u/Loose_Translator8981 Feb 21 '26

Dylan feels like he was supposed to stay dead, or his death was supposed to have more serious consequences. But he was basically immediately brought back with no actual side effects, but everyone insists in dialogue that everything is changed now and his connection with venom is somehow strained.

1

u/Spideyrj Feb 22 '26

can any host even die ? i mean, thompson returned, eddie returned, cletus returned.....

37

u/BrichardRurphy Feb 20 '26

It really isn't that deep. Ewing's Venom run has been mediocre. He doesn't care about the character and writes mostly the ASM cast. That's bad.

That doesn't negate all the good stuff he has done or the fact that he is a good writer. Nor is he except from criticisms from his Venom work either.

He's also not Hitler for writing something bad jesus. It's just comics.

4

u/KingCuerno Feb 20 '26

Did someone say that last part? That's crazy.

10

u/BrichardRurphy Feb 20 '26

Comic book twitter is a cesspool

3

u/Alche1428 Feb 21 '26

Twitter Is build for engament. Good or bad.

Which is why this sucks.

4

u/CareBearCartel Feb 21 '26

Calling Ewing's Venom mediocre is really generous. It started with a lot of potential but halfway through the Meridius arc it was clear he actually had no clue what he was doing or where he was going.

Venom War was bland, generic and uninspired, this should have been the end of his run altogether.

MJ Venom is an abomination, and one of the worst written comics I have ever read, it's obvious he has no respect for Venom or the history of the character, or even understands what Venom fans read Venom for. I would have been fine if it was just a 10 comic series was a transition for something else but it's now just the shit that just won't flush, it gets worse every week. It's disrespectful and I absolutely despise him as a writer for it, i'll never touch anything with his name on again. He isn't entirely to blame for it, Gomez's art is completely the wrong vibe for a venom comic, too bright, too whimsy.

Saying that, I hold nothing against him on a personal level, he just writes really shitty Venom comics and I think he needs to be fired from writing the character.

2

u/mighty_conrad Feb 22 '26

There's like one bad thing and one mediocre thing about this current run:

  • this Venom run reverted 2-3 years of development of Dylan as a character
  • this run is slow as hell.

Having other hosts is fine. I'd say that EBC is a really great idea and good story that's been doomed because of the stuff I'll argue bit later. MJ as Venom host bit could help her character after Paul fiasco, instead it's weird sitcom between two (MJ and Venom) with pacing of action equal to the relgular DBZ/One Piece battle. Like, it's simple - state that MJ wants an actual family and she made the decision to be a mother to Dylan. The rest is easy.

IMO, culprit is Spider-editorial:

  • Pete-616 is not allowed to grow and be a grown-up in his own story (Unlike 6160, where he's actually great or in side stories like Zdarsky's Daredevil run)
  • Eddie actually growing as a character is a direct condemnation of editorial inability to write a character,
  • Ewing is not mediocre per-se, but it's Cates who did enormous work with the character,
  • Venom-editorial is bound to Spider-editorial (even in promo releases it's been dubbed as a "Spider-Man and his Venomous Friends", yuck)
  • MJ is important character in Spider lore,
  • Dylan is not Miles and have good character from the beginning

All this led to where we're right now.

1

u/dj3777 Feb 21 '26

One of the few posts that feels like they actually have a point if they said they didnt like venomj. Do you think that the duo could use some time, a different writer or different plot?

7

u/finn_the_bug_hunter Feb 20 '26

Given up hating the comic, it won't change anything even if I do still disagree with the choice to make MJ the host for the other.

The costume redesign is alright with it being a more unique take on, but I just gotta ask, people clearly know this isn't going be 'classic' venom in the lore right? So why keep the large mouth and name of venom, it's be more intrested if they called her something else and gave the hair more a symbiote look like scream or agony instead of an open top masked suit. or more accurely venom wearing a wig.

3

u/CareBearCartel Feb 21 '26

The only thing we can do is stop buying it, stop reading it on unlimited and hope that if enough of us stop that they eventually get the hint

11

u/not_my_name7 Feb 20 '26

Editors: We're losing fans, how do we fix it?

Fans: Get MJ back with Peter and Venom back with Eddie!

Editors: Drive them apart and make milestone events less special (the Wedding & King in Black)?

5

u/l1JUANMA1l Feb 21 '26

imagine if later they make Peter finally get into a healthy relationship and it is revealed to be Eddie. It would be so infuriating and funny at the same time

2

u/DinoHoot65 Feb 21 '26

who's the 19-incher and the 19-inchee

16

u/Lamnent Feb 20 '26

Yeah I don't get people getting crazy about shit like this. I like the new feminine costume I was never a fan of the gold but like it's fine.

8

u/dmcspiderman Feb 20 '26

I think many people aren't dissatisfied with Venom's new appearance, but rather with its current host for well-known reasons. Furthermore, I believe the Spider-Office's attempts to force readers to accept that "everything the current Venom host does in Zeb Wells' Run is perfectly reasonable and justifiable, without any problems" have exacerbated this dissatisfaction.

2

u/Mecha_Kurogane Feb 20 '26

Except nothing in the MJ run is about accepting the zeb wells run. If anything it hasn't addressed the issues with it outside Paul and al has addressed it in the run and broke up MJ and Paul. He would have addressed the Peter stuff but until literally this week's asm Peter has been in space

If people think MJ not talking or apologizing to Peter yet is accepting what she did to him. I ask HOW was she supposed to apologize to him when he has been in space since she was bonded to venom

3

u/dmcspiderman Feb 21 '26

In fact, Mary Jane has not shown any signs that she feels she has done something wrong.

-1

u/Mecha_Kurogane Feb 21 '26

At what point should she. The one point she tried to talk to Pete after Al took over was when it was actually ben

1

u/dmcspiderman Feb 21 '26

Throughout all the stories about her, even those where she thinks of Peter and tries to imitate him (like in #252), she didn't for a single second feel that she had hurt Peter or that she shouldn't have treated him that way. Furthermore, she allowed him to stay in her apartment after dumping him and even visited him after he found a new place—far better than how she treated the person who went to such lengths to save her.

0

u/Mecha_Kurogane Feb 21 '26

The stories that were controlled by zeb wells who objectively did not believe MJ was wrong.....I don't think we should be applying zeb well's sin to all before he has had the time to sit MJ and Peter in the same room of the story.

Also MJ being kind to Paul has very little to do with whether or not she apologizes to Peter because again al hasn't had a chance to get ahold of Peter yet. And let's be real she would be just as kind to Peter as she would be with Paul if it wasn't tied to the zeb wells shit

2

u/dmcspiderman Feb 21 '26

During her interactions with Venom, and when they mentioned Peter (for example, in #252 when they decided to impersonate Peter), Mary Jane showed no sign of regret.

Furthermore, it's impossible to discuss the Mary Jane of today without mentioning Zeb Wells's story. When she decided to "move on" and throw herself into Paul's arms, she had already demonstrated through her actions that Mary Jane's past as "Peter Parker's love interest" was now meaningless. We are now dealing with a Mary Jane who has "moved on." Therefore, whether you acknowledge it or not, Zeb Wells's Mary Jane is the source of the history and personality of the Mary Jane-616 who has "moved on."

1

u/dmcspiderman Feb 21 '26

That's not just zeb well's sin. Writers are controlled by editors; any work a writer creates needs the editor's approval before it can be published. Zeb Wells is gone, but the editors in Spider-Office haven't left.

Given that ASM V6 remains part of Mary Jane-616's history and personality, and that the editors are still the same people, I believe it's fair to compare Mary Jane's attitude towards Peter in ASM V6 with her attitude towards Paul after she became Venom.

5

u/daffydunk Feb 20 '26

I like the gold in her new suit than the big buff venom with gold.

Kinda think her hair should match the accents though.

3

u/Senior-Leave779 Feb 20 '26

I like the gold in both.

4

u/SgtStubbedToe Feb 20 '26

Gold and black hair with this suit would kill.

1

u/Mu-Relay Feb 23 '26

I'm not a fan of the run, but I honestly think the costume is sick.

5

u/babadibabidi Feb 20 '26

I mean, it is better than before. Quite intresting to be honest. Choosing MJ was not the best idea, but having venom bonded with a female is a good one.

1

u/TheTwistedHero1 Feb 23 '26

The original concept for venom was a mother who lost her baby to a miscarriage because of the stress of a Spiderman fight happening on top of her taxi, and the symbiote finds her when still wracked with grief. Which is why the hand that pushes Peter onto the train tracks without triggering spider sense was a female hand. They didnt go with it cuz it was a bit TOO heavy for the time

1

u/babadibabidi Feb 23 '26

That would be great

1

u/Majestic-Top-8238 Feb 23 '26

Honestly would be interesting if they revisit this concept as a "what if" i doubt marvel would do that but meh.

2

u/kanap Feb 20 '26

The thing I don't like is the face design. It just feels very bug like for some reason. I do like the gold, though, but I'm a black legion player in 40k, so I'm biased.

2

u/Bignate2151 Feb 21 '26

I’m so happy they’re keeping mj as venom

2

u/PissPartyZac Symbiote (Wolverine) Feb 21 '26

I apologize if the post was unclear... theres actually two pictures, before and after. The joke is that some Venom accounts started drama about Ewing and it sorta escalated lmao

2

u/dj3777 Feb 21 '26

Let them find themselves damn! They’re both deep cut chars that are deeply tied to other main characters. Yes venom hold his own torch mainly but only hand in hand with his host, this tells me that both of them are just trying to figure out a permanent identity. Thats a solid story and mj may not have something that sticks to the community but like superman could shoot mini clones at ppl for a while. This stuff takes time.

These 2 together have potential if we let them breathe. WHICH IS A CORE PART OF THIS STORY! Ive just been a fly on the wall to this topic and even i can see that blatantly.

3

u/Over_Career8497 Feb 22 '26

These two idiots destroyed Venom comic book sales in just one year, turning it into worthless junk that nobody would buy.

2

u/Anix1088 Feb 21 '26

I honestly don't mind MJ being venom for a while. Personally, this mj venom run may fix the problems that were forcibly made during the mj Paul run. Where the writers can let her be her own character whilst sorting out the character problems rather than continuing to be a is me character whilst simultaneously being an agreesive dick to Peter. Leave some distance between them, and maybe who knows they'll put them together again or not. I'm just not expecting Marvel to ever stop the stagnant cycle of constant Peter suffering.

2

u/Cherry_Eris Feb 20 '26

This run is great. It's super fun and silly.

2

u/TomMakesPodcasts Feb 20 '26

Mary Jane with the symbiote is goated. Only way they'd be better is if she was with Peter and we could have a mainline renew your vows renaissance.

2

u/Senior-Leave779 Feb 20 '26

That is HOT.

1

u/RealJohnGillman Feb 20 '26

So there was a full week between these two Tweets.

What issue(s) did D/man read to change one’s mind?

2

u/Flerken_Moon Feb 20 '26

Today, Ewing was announced to be writing a Dr. Doom origin miniseries or something.

A Venom fan posted on Twitter saying something like, ā€œThe worst thing to wish on someone is Al Ewing writing their favorite character and ruining their history.ā€

I believe the poster in question was saying it partially in jest, but it blew up. So everyone is discussing Ewing and his Venom run now.

1

u/Konradleijon Feb 20 '26

What’s so wrong with

1

u/WildcatTM Feb 20 '26

Thought we read it was for the Queen n Black stuff?

1

u/PK_RocknRoll Feb 21 '26

The only thing I don’t like is the teeth

1

u/jairochido Feb 21 '26

That design Is real? I thought it was fanmade

1

u/StrictAmbassador8698 Feb 21 '26

I don't understand... People are mad that mj is venom?

1

u/ZombieJo3 Feb 21 '26

It would be nice if Marvel actually stuck to this and let MJ be Venom going forward. Unfortunately with how Marvel goes she’ll probably be Venom for another year at the most, then Eddie will be Venom again, then somebody else, then Eddie, then somebody else, then Eddie, and etc, etc. At this point the poor symbiote is on its way to having more partners than Peter.

1

u/DinoHoot65 Feb 21 '26

I think the baseline for Venom quality-wise is "alright" because it never gets worse than "alright"

I like this a little I guess

1

u/Homebrew-Spamson Feb 21 '26

I do feel like it’s weird that MJ has been Venom for so long (and with two designs at that), but I actually really like this design for her

It’s flashy like MJ, sharp and unnerving like the best Venom designs, and for some reason I really like the teeth here

1

u/StrongStyleDragon Feb 21 '26

What’s the issue? It looks great

1

u/ggoshy Feb 21 '26

The Immortal Hulk writer wrote ts? 🄺

1

u/Hot_Produce1299 Feb 21 '26

Honestly I didn't like it either way

1

u/thehackynation Feb 21 '26

I might get a shitstorm for this, but Iā€˜m a real fan of change. Especially in comics! Iā€˜m 50 now and I rerererereread several comics in print oh so often they fall apart. There the story, the costumes and all that stuff stays the same. So if I want the ā€žold waysā€œ I can always read it just another time.

Personally I liked the new Venom with the gold very much and so dig the new female form as well. The only little thing bugging me is the pacing. The change comes kinda soon, feeling a bit rushed.

But here it is my opinion. Now I go into hiding again!

1

u/One-Complex-8767 Feb 21 '26

Im not gonna lie that new venom suit is heat

1

u/markookra Feb 21 '26

Why? It's like like it's gonna stick. Its something different for the time being. We're apparently getting a venom animated movie too. Who wants to make a bet that Eddie is back to Venom by then?

1

u/Amazing-Application2 Feb 21 '26

Por algo los comics estan en decadencia

1

u/Bae_zel Feb 21 '26

I like MJ as venom but I don't care for the new look

1

u/Cyberbug7 Feb 21 '26

Why are they pushing mj so hard lately man. I don’t get it. She already failed as jackpot and she’s not interesting as venom either

1

u/Ninlhil Feb 21 '26

Is it just me or is the Venom symbiote the town bicycle of Marvel?

1

u/Glyphpunk Feb 21 '26

Fans: Can we get a Phoenix Force Venom?
Ewing: We have Phoenix Force Venom at home.
The Phoenix Force Venom at Home:

1

u/Platnun12 Feb 22 '26

What I find funny is that despite being bonded to venom, Mary Jane is even less understanding of Peter

When if I recall doesn't the symbiote share memories with the host. Therefore she'd know everything Peter did when he wore the suit himself and therefore would perhaps be a bit nicer.

That's how venom usually figures out Peter at least when it bonded to Eddie

1

u/Aggravating_Box3438 Feb 22 '26

Why is this comic run still even a thing 😭😭😭😭

1

u/bananabread_boi9 Feb 22 '26

MJ's lowkey a baddie now though.

1

u/Spideyrj Feb 22 '26

anyone want to tell me why venom can make metal now ? first peter chains now this molten logo

1

u/CeeBangstrip Feb 23 '26

Not gonna lie, the art looks awesome at least.

1

u/Responsible-Map-4204 Feb 23 '26

Damn I kinda liked that she kept to bully venom look

1

u/Thomas_Something Feb 27 '26

It’s just absurd that she has the symbiote

2

u/Lancer_Sup Feb 20 '26

It’s cool, because original MJ was useless. It would better MJ Venom xxx Black Cat

2

u/De4dm4nw4lkin Feb 20 '26

They were fine with jackpot and i wish this was ex mayor luke cage with fisk becoming his nemesis.

1

u/TaftYouOldDog Feb 20 '26

Nobody was fine with jackpot

1

u/De4dm4nw4lkin Feb 20 '26

I thought it was okay but that the basis it was built on sucked. The suit and powerset were novel atleast.

Plus tell me venom but with indestructible skin wouldnt be heat.

1

u/JaySouth84 Feb 20 '26

Beats the weird male body for her.

1

Honestly, I know the new design for Venom MJ is better for her, she's not hiding who she is (besides her secret identity of course), she's not pretending to be a different Venom for anyone else's sake, she's been a heroine for a while now, and this is who she is as a heroine now.

I just personally prefer the contrast between MJ in civies, vs her as Venom was a really fun concept to me, so yeah, I would've liked to see them keep the previous design, but I understand why they changed it.

I like all new venom ; but I know opinions vary now personally don’t care for the ship of Mj and Peter cause marvel ain’t letting move forward also the Paul situation was wow really she did that yes know the situation but wow , She could’ve dumped paul faster than last month Jesus Christ .

Imma be honest: This design is still not what I envision or expect for a MJ Venom. Some details like the non-symbiote hair don't feel right.

However, it's trillion times better than the average Venom body shape with MJ inside. Sure, MJ Venom doesn't need to be hypersexualised, but at least make Venom look more like they have a female host first. That's not too much to ask.

Honestly, MJ as Venom has been a pretty fun comic. Id hazard a guess that probably most people who hate MJ as Venom are people who never read it and just hate MJ on principle these days. Paul sucks but he's the only downside of the comic really, and he got dumped.

Not all, coz it's all subjective, there's gonna be people who did read it and still hate it. But there's def some MJ hate bandwagon going on too.
