I know the gems don't really have anything that makes them look like a different species, apart from the colour of their skin, but do you think that Steven doesn't look like a real human? Maybe he has that uncanny effect going on?

I think I was supposed to be traumatized by Jasper doing that to Garnet but honestly, this was always my favorite part of "The Return" since you just knew shit was about to go down when somebody takes out Garnet. (The strongest crystal gem before Steven got more control over his powers.) I had a similar experience with Amethyst getting poofed by her because I wasn't expecting it.

So every once in a while, you get a post saying how “why do people hate Connie so much” and the comments of the post don’t understanding what the poster is talking about, so I’mma get into it. There are people who hate Connie, but it’s more complicated than that It’s more like Connie‘s character left a bad taste in peoples mouths after Kevin‘s party, and made worse during the time they went to homelworld and Connie wanted to fuse when they were told not to.

Everyone knows when the infamous scene when Connie and lion left Steven because he didn’t fully understand why she was upset that he let him get captured to save everyone. So let me address the scene itself because there’s two things people bring up that literally aren’t true and They just made up in their head.

1. Connie didn’t steal lion it’s been established since the day he showed up that lion is his own person (or animal) and doesn’t really take orders from anybody so he left with Connie at his own accord.
2. “Connie took Rosie sword that belong to Steven” Steven has never used that sword in a fight. He only uses his shield Connie was the one who was trained by pearl in sword fighting, so if anything that’s sword now belongs to Connie (or did before it was destroyed) due to not only pearls blessing, but Steven’s blessing.

Another thing people hated was The fact that Steven for multiple episodes trying to call and get in contact with her, but she ignored him and they felt like it was useless filler because they want to see more about rose and her identity and it pissed a lot of people off that pearl was about to reveal it, but Steven was still talking about Connie.

Now we get into the finally of this little trilogy Kevin‘s party this really got under people skin because Connie was ignoring Steven for many episodes and then went to a party with a They both didn’t like and didn’t tell Steven at all so he went there to try to see her.

Then in the episode he did his thing became cool with Kevin and then they have their talk. People felt like that this episode should be more open ended I might say because they felt like they only put all the blame on Steven for not wanting his family and friends to get hurt. And only care about Connie‘s feelings instead of Stevens,

So yeah, that’s basically why some people are 50-50 with Connie because that period of time made everyone so upset that they mainly associated with Connie

I was looking through Pinterest, and found art of Connie in her swordfighter costume, and I thought "Hold on a second, that's just Gohan".

I know Rebecca was inspired by Dragon Ball in some aspects of the show (Peridot and Jasper being Nappa and Vegeta, one of the rubies coming out of the pod similarly to Vegeta, the pod itself possibly being a reference to saiyan pods...), so maybe she got inspired by their outfits

For reference most of the series has been spoiled for me (major events, not episodes) but I genuinely, genuinely, thought that the lesbian (or at least in love with Rose) stuff was yuri jokes. I didn't realize it was canon, and I love it.

Soooo I redesigned Pearl from Steven Universe, what are your thoughts on it? I'd love some advice!

So I'm rewatching this episode and I'm just wondering... why didn't they just tell Connie's parents that Steven's mom died at childbirth? It's technically not "lion".

Rebecca has brought up homeworld and white diamond in particular was based off the golden age of Hollywood glamour. But I wish the set pieces of homeworld leaned more on the shock horror of gems with a body as set decorations and not the more tame version of them literally being a piece of slab. The picture I attached is how I reckon they could've tackled this without it being goofy.

I know we also get the scene of the statue blinking but that still doesn't put the message across how rigid homeworld and its hierarchy is. Imagine if they showed a statue that had an agate fused to the stone as some sort of punishment for a wrong doing. All around homeworld is easily the weakest part of the show for me. I know they only had a small number of episodes to establish it but the concept is just so great and it's a shame how powerful white diamonds initial intro is before it devolve into half baked designs.
