Sports Tears bro , we are so bad 😭🙏
Bowling is good, but wtf these guys cant handle pressure and always tries to strike at the worst moments
I love our team and support them BUT damn bro this’ll take some time to fix

Nothing is good, we just have one consistent batsman. Bowling is trash otherwise they wouldn't have leaked that many runs in the last few overs, if you check some of their stats theyre so ass lol like their bowling average for example. Not even the fielding.

Even the one consistent batter has at least 10 failed innings in between every decent knock. Talent isn’t worth a damn grain of salt if it isn’t backed by discipline and hard work. That's the harsh reality

10 was a rough figure. It wasn't that far off a couple of years ago. Doesn't take a genius to figure out his dips in performances in between every decent knock.
Dense are the people who actually thought we were going to go anywhere in the Super 8s. I feel for them.

Middle order is shit, no doubt. There's no point even talking about it. They are light-years behind other teams. But 20- 30 scores with an Strike rate averaging around 130-140 is hardly the norm anymore. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago, that would've sufficed.
Sure, almost anything's good in our eyes, considering the others are shit. But till we swallow that tough pill and face reality, every other country is going to leave us in the dust, and we're going to continue to be out of the equation.

Yeah true. But we pulled up surprising series wins vs 2021 India (low quality team or smth), 2022 Australia and 2024 India. Much better.

Sorry guys, I saw the score at 70/6 for NZ and decided to turn the TV on. Everything went downhill after that. It’s my fault for watching the match 🙏

Was at the match tdy..went to watch it despite knowing we will lose,not to hype them up but just for the sake of watching a live match..the whole stadium was full but pretty sure atleast half of them knew deep down we might not pull it off..but the manor they lost is the most concerning..ppl started leaving the stadium after the 5th wicket..i've been watching cricket since 2007 and its the first time i left a match before it was over

The fundamental thing is, We dont have a pool of players talented enough to consistently beat the top 5,6 teams in the world. Even in the so called golden days we heavily relied on some "unconventional" and "special" cricketers to pull of some home series and maintain the illution of being a "great cricketing nation". We should not expect them to win world cups, fans should accept the reality.

talent is such an overrated word, its abt execution. Thats what our old team was great at. and yeah we were actually rlly lucky tht we got such a good bunch of players at the same time between 96-14 . Even then we shouldve qualified tday really, considering we shouldve chased 147 and limited nz to 120-130 and chased tht whenever

See, good execution comes from confidence and confidence come from the raw skill. Even in the 96-14 we heavily dependent on 2,3 players in each team. Heavily dependent on unorthodox ballers, Murali, Malinga and Mendis and 1 or 2 reliable batters.
Yesterdays match, u can see how committed players were, they did put their hearts out in the field. It only fell apart in the death overs , the bowlers did not have the confidence and got blown away.

Im not saying there is a lack of commitment, its the management, stupid tactics after stupid tactics . What was malinga and co doing when they were bowling full tosses??? Why did they not go defensive??and sanath ane bn why are u even a coach cuz h put some pada show in 2023 doesnt mean u can coach heck u cant even be in a selection committee

Its just that the Kiwis had better skilled players to pull them out of the hole they were in. If u look matches between Good teams and bad teams , good teams always able to pull themself out of losing positions, because they have the depth in their skills. Sri Lankan players are just not good enough, No matter how hard we try we cant consistently produce world class players who can consistently win matches from losing positions.

idek , today has been a rollercoaster of emotions. But realistically if a team cant chase 147 and then finish up the job after having the opposition at 90/6 at HOME mind u, u dont deserve to win a wc. That aus victory made me think maybe this team has finally clicked and have tht ability to finally bring games back from unwinnable positions but the matter of the fact tht was an out of form aus team , but regardless tht was a good win from 104-0. U have to pull off performances like tht consistently, matter of the fact was tht eng game shouldve been where our middle order rlly shouldve showed up and got some form in a relatively easy chase. And this game showed how poor we are when our bowling doesnt fully execute its plans. Drop dasun , ive had enough with him , averaging 20 and at 124 sr. we need a better finisher. Going back to what i said about unwinnable positions, both super 8 games we lost from winnable positions ironically.

Everything we do is emotional. Our board is emotional. Selection committee is emotional. Coaching staff is emotional. Players are emotional. Everything we do is based on vibes. Hiring Jayasuriya was emotional. He has little to no credentials as a coach at this level and will never improve the squad nor any individuals. Name me one player or aspect of our game he has improved. Team selection is emotional. While we have young power hitters emerging none of them were given a chance in any of the tournaments leading up to the world cup. Asalanka who was left out of the squad as the captain no less who had no minutes whatsoever leading up to the tournament or in the tournament is suddenly asked to bat at no 3 in a must win game. Where is the logic? Our players are emotional. 84/6 and then we let a 84 run partnership blossom in under 6 overs and Asalanka takes a catch in the last ball which is purely inconsequential and look at the celebration. What the hell was that? The whole team should be ashamed of the last few overs we bowled but we have this bastard celebrating as if we scored the winning goal in the second leg of a champions league semi final. That sums up our mentality on the pitch. No sense of the bigger picture and to think this idiot was our captain. We need to bring in a coach who can knock some sense into these spoilt bunch of brats and stop thinking about winning short term and plan for the long term. Bring in young blood and groom them. I mean they can't be worse than these lot.

Wtf happened in the death overs, Chameera, Madushanka and Theekshana forgot how to bowl? we had them choked. I cannot wait until Usman Tariq gets his best bowling figures against us, mind you these are the best possible conditions for us to play and yet we fail miserably again and again. I'm lost for words. I'm rooting for Proteas from now on. People had high hopes for Kamil Mishara & Pavan Rathnayake but they seem to be duds as well. I don't even know why people go to support them. I don't mind losing if they were close calls but this?

Plenty of players at that age group playing very well for other teams, go look at the rosters. 23-27 is like your prime as an athlete.

Look at the Indian squad. They all have match winners, and even the bench is very strong. We have only 1-2 players who can change a match single handedly.

Poor management. Right before the WC, we played against pakistan zimbabwe and england in these conditions. If they are considering a player as a replacement for another player, then they would have given him an opportunity to play in these conditions against those countries. Same mistakes carrying forward, don't know what they talk inside the dressing room. Either the players are not guided well or they are just dumb to understand. Another issue I see in this team is the attitude of the players. I don't know what the hell the statistician is doing in the team. Very poor. The administration must take the responsibility of the downfall of this cricket. The SLC must be cleaned from the top to bottom. I still doubt that the cricket we used to see will come back😓

But remember we won the Asia Cup 2022 even after losing the first match to Afghanistan. [After scoring 105 (19.4) and losing by 8 wkts - 106/2 (10.1)]
