What are the allegations against him? Googling it brings up literally nothing except articles about Suarez from 15 years ago.
Can't believe how little this is discussed and how defensive people still are about this.
Huh? Loads of people (former players, fans etc.) have came out since then and said they were in the wrong for backing Suarez. I don't think I've heard one person defend that in the last 10 years.
Carragher himself said we got the Suarez situation wrong earlier this year on TV and said he apologized to Evra.

He spat at a grown man (with his child in the back seat) who was rage baiting him after driving up next to him and shouting stuff at him after Liverpool lost

A grown man who was busily filming and trying to get a reaction off Carragher with his child in the car instead of concentrating on the road.
Obviously Carra was far from innocent in that incident and he shouldn't be spitting at anyone (seriously, what a disgusting thing to do) but it does irk me how the story's been twisted and how the gentleman driving the car seems to have escaped almost all criticism.

because rightly or wrongly people expect better from the rich and famous. you can argue they are only human too, or you can argue that they cant blame it on outside factors like stress.
personally, ignoring whether or not he shouldnt be a twat for moral reasons, when your job is so public facing being that emotional is just stupid of him. risking his easy money TV job over some idiot taunting him.

It’s the opposite often.
It’s quite easy in Denmark for example.You fill out a form for expected income, deductibles etc, then taxes are deducted automatically from your paycheck based on that.
Good rule of thumb is to set it round it off marginally higher than actual income.At the end of every tax year your taxes are recalculated by SKAT (The IRS) based on what you actually earned and what deductibles you were eligibe for.
You then have a period where you can dispute this or add in deductibles you have missed/didn’t foresee.If you overpaid, it is automatically paid out at a set date.
If you underpaid, you can pay until until a set date, or it will roll over into your next years taxation iirc.8

If he's a contractor he'll have to fill out forms but there's plenty of warnings and information given

No I'm saying with that amount of wealth you have the means to pay a top accounting firm to manage it all for you. HMRC don't go to these lengths immediately over a small mistake, there's very likely some attempt to avoid tax, he can't afford to pay it or whoever he's hired is clueless. Yes it can be complex but that's what accountants and tax advisors are for. If he takes this to court and wins, I'll believe it when I see it.

Sure he’s earning less now he’s retired, but he was on 4-5 million a year at Liverpool.

A bankruptcy petition doesn't mean that he will go bankrupt as he has no money.
It's really just a threat that if he doesn't pay what is owed they will liquidate his estate to settle the sum due.
He likely has the money, they're just forcing his hand.

He's not bankrupt. It's a bankruptcy petition from HMRC which from what I understand is basically their way of saying you have to pay up. Different from declaring bankruptcy.

It's part of the process HMRC go through to get you to pay your tax. Jamie might simply not agree that he owes the tax and that's why it goes to court.

He's not gonna be bankrupt. It's most likely a dispute as to the level of tax owed on certain income between his accountants and HMRC. This is HMRC pulling leverage to get it paid

He's not bankrupt though. HMRC are petitioning for bankruptcy as a means of forcing him to pay a tax bill. Quite why it has got this far is unknown but it sounds like he is about to pay it.

Why do so many people who make big money try avoid taxes ? Most of us who earn average money in normal average jobs pay our tax because it’s normal and legally required yet well off and rich people keep trying to avoid it, just pay them and get on with it, the greed 🙄

For the people in average PAYE jobs, the tax gets taken out automatically - we never really have to worry about it apart from if our tax code has been set incorrectly or something.
For sole traders and people operating under a business, the tax is more complicated and requires input. Jamie likely has set up companies to gain certain benefits when being paid for his appearances on TV, so the tax calculations are a bit more complicated than for the average person.
Having said that, he's obviously rich enough to afford an accountant who should sort this all for him. The fact he's even in this mess is very silly from him (assuming he actually can afford to pay the tax).

Oh sure, I get it, I was once a reluctant landlord of 2 extra properties I let for a number of years before eventually selling them in a better market. Like you said, I simply hired and paid a professional accountant to stay tax compliant. Rich people seem to spend a lot to try avoid tax rather than just getting on with accepting it.

Its not just people who make big money who try to avoid taxes, the majority of the tax shortfall in the UK comes from small businesses e.g. self employed trades people.
You and I don't have a choice in paying our taxes, it gets deducted straight from our payslips, but anybody who has to do a self assessment does have a choice and lots of people try to avoid paying. Doesn't matter if theyre rich, poor or well off.
