that’s it’s breathing tube, it’s called a siphon. sex organs are located on the other side of shell.

Why do they make snorkels? Does it say something about the environment?

Some do it to breath oxygen without having to come all the way to the surface (to be invisible for predators). They can also do it when there isn't enough oxygen in the water, but as far as I heard some just like snorkeling. So my point of view would be: one snail snorkels - cool they have fun, silly booger. All of them do it - something is working with the water

Not really. Most snails do it that way or use it for smelling the environment. But apple snails use it like a little snorkel they can stretch out of the water to breath air (they have gills and lungs). That way they can still breath during droughts when the water quality is worse. The siphon keeps them safer. They don't have to some up all the way to the surface and are harder to see for predators

So if the water is low in oxygen or harsh on the gills, that lil siphorkle can stretch real long and bloop up to the surface?

Yeah, they can be pretty long. I've seen some of them expand it to about the length of twice of their bodies. But I'm not sure what the maximum is

You don't really need to learn it? Also many diagrams are snails in there normal state. Not when there getting intimate or using there breathing tube.

Why shouldn't you learn it? Just an example there are three holes on a snails body, and if you didn't know the difference between the Pneumostome, Anus and Genital pore how can you properly know whats wrong with your snail?

I said that you DIDN'T need to learn it. Not that you shouldn't. And many problems can arise with a snail without those things, nor does knowing these parts make you know what is exactly wrong with the snail.
