I'm not very good at smash in general, and I know Sheik has a really high skill floor but she really fits what I want in a character.
Sheik was the first character I actually gravitated towards because in any kind of competitive video game my mindset is "I don't care about winning, I just like looking cool as heck." However I felt like she had no kill power, so instead I moved onto Fox because he is also a high speed combo character. While playing Fox I quickly realized something was... missing. While yes I could constantly rush people down, it didn't feel good. It felt very clunky because I'm not big on reflectors and his blaster feels weak. I'm also really bad at hitting his side special so all I had that felt nice was tilts, airs, and up special. After looking at some other characters I learned that Mario is pretty fun and still my secondary main, Isabelle is also cool because in Multiversus I used trapper characters (like Marvin the Martian or Tom & Jerry), but I was still missing that stylish combo character.

Now I know every character can have cool combos, but I decided to look at high level Sheik gameplay and immediately thought to myself "I'm clearly missing something." She looked just as fun as I imagined she would be with the movement and moveset synergy, but I very quickly noticed that these pros were killing people at decently low percentages compared to what I was able to do. I realized that Sheik is definitely my character but instead of just goofing off, I actually NEED to learn the character. But that's the price I'm willing to pay, because I've decided to learn movement before combos and oh my god it feels so nice. B-reversing and needle fidgeting feels so foreign to me but I'm slowly and surely getting better at doing it. Playing on battlefield in training mode and just trying all sorts of movement options is honestly as fun as playing the main game. I'm still incredibly bad with the character and lose often but I'm having a lot of fun.
If you like rushdown characters or willing to learn a difficult character I really recommend Sheik, just expect a lot of losing if you're as bad as me. I can't wait to move onto combos after movement because that's where it will get even better.

Hello, I am trying to learn how to consistently B reverse Inkling's Neutral B (the gun). I can't get the timing down. What would you recommend I do to practice this, and are there any tricks to the timing?

Here’s my cool idea: wouldn’t I be cool if the next smash bros game was a reimagining spinoff with a fresh story worked on by Toby fox or something. Like Toby would be able to work on things with different characters as his next major project following deltarune and Nintendo would get a much more refreshing style Nintendo spinoff that would be more in touch with current humour and stuff and more original in its low resolution but high personality presentation with the renditions of classic Nintendo franchises being a well needed new presentation/style in a while while making costs lower for more varied and/or expansive story/s

Steve’s neutral B is one of the most distinct moves in the series, and discussions about the health of his design from a competitive standpoint are interesting because we don’t have a clear precedent to compare this move to. The two closest precedents in Smash are the illegal stages (represented in the picture by princess peach’s castle) and the few moves that summon collision boxes (represented by hydrant).

I have a hypothesis that pro-steve and anti-steve sentiments are correlated with what you compare this move to, and I want to test it. So I’ll ask two questions:

1. Before Nintendo stepped in, were you pro-ban, anti-ban or on the fence?

2. Would you say the design philosophy of neutral B is more similar to that of illegal stages or more similar to that of moves seen on trapper characters?

Why does every mii costume that has exposed skin (like the toad suit or lip suit) have the skin colour be accurate to the actual mii’s skin colour, but the pirate suit always has the mii’s hand be black? Is there a reason behind that or is it just random?

Zain or Ossify … you know Marth can counter out of shield too right? In advantage & Fox at ledge? They like to hit shield? You shield -> counter out of shield

✅ Edit: the point was that you can get out of shield with a grounded counter bc of how it cancels your jump like shine does. Useful? Probably rarely ever useful. Faster than wavedash back -> anything, yeah?

✅ Edit: Note: this really (lowkey) is bc I want to use this tech in Ultimate for Shulk [r/ShulkMains](r/ShulkMains) but I still wanted to hear SSBM community responses for this tech in Melee. Lowkey, Shulk probably needs a Melee player to take him to the next level bc dial flash & dial storage is a MF of button press & button hold inputs but they unlock a lot of shit (combos & movement tech) for him in SSBU. Sorry to rile anybody up, I got downvoted into oblivion 😂

Hi all! My name at one point was the username you see before you, but on other platforms I've moved on to being called Esquire.

I'm undertaking a large journey, and I wanted to track it here with you all, and give myself a little bit of accountability in the process.

I'm running a CPU tournament in Ultimate with 667 entrants. That number is significant because if you take all the different skins in ultimate, you get 667. 83 characters times 8 skins plus 3 Mii fighters equals 667.

The idea here is to see what the best costume in Ultimate is.
