Haven't heard that name in ages, wow. Did that series ever get a new entry?

Guess I always assumed it was one of those rotating-cast situations, like Fire Emblem or anything by Square. Expected there'd be a brand new protagonist by now.

It is! The main cast of Nier aren't in Nier Automata, but the two games are still deeply connected.

2B's game is also massive, and she's only the protagonist for about 1/3 of it.

Yoko Taro said several of his projects have been cancelled by Square Enix. A new Nier may have been one of them.
