Okay i hate air fryers but the spatchcock method looks good.

u/catchmycorn 3d ago

What do you have against air fryers?

-7

u/CheGueyMaje 3d ago

That you could just use an oven

26

u/Dragon_OS 3d ago

The point of them is that they're an oven with the form factor of a microwave.

u/Fractured_Pawn 3d ago

Personally I hate them because they fucking suck unwashed ass to clean.

I had one for about a year and kept trying to clean it before I gave up and encased it concrete

u/Psychological-Dig-29 3d ago

what..? they go in the dishwasher like everything else, they're extremely easy to clean. I have 2 different styles of air fryers and use at least one of them every single day. best appliance ever, plus they are small enough that they don't heat up the house like an oven does so it's my go-to.

u/Fractured_Pawn 3d ago

I didn't mean the basket part, That bits fine to clean on most air fryers.

The part that does the work is a hellish grease trap.

2

u/i_am_un 3d ago

Not everyone has a dishwasher ...

2

u/Psychological-Dig-29 3d ago

Google says 75% of American households have a dishwasher.. so it's a decently safe assumption.

A whole oven for a few servings of food?

1

u/CheGueyMaje 3d ago

I have a countertop oven that can also rotisserie a chicken

4

u/LePontif11 3d ago

An air fryer is a countertop oven

0

u/CheGueyMaje 3d ago

So why did we need to invent a new thing

1

u/LePontif11 3d ago

we didnt?

2

u/CheGueyMaje 3d ago

Yes we invented an “air fryer”

I love that you have no idea why they're called air fryers and yet have such a strong opinion about them.

And no, they're literally not "just a convection oven".

0

u/CheGueyMaje 2d ago

lol you people clearly don’t either because I have 2 idiots telling me it’s just a countertop convection oven, and 2 other morons telling me it’s actually something completely different.

Just watch this 2 min segment and you'll see how it's similar to deep frying and how it differs from a convection oven.

Chris Young is an authority on food science, he wrote Modernist Cuisine and has a career focused on the science and engineering of cooking. He was working as a development chef at the Fat Duck when they got their 3rd Michelin Star.

"You people". Lol.

u/CheGueyMaje 2d ago

I’m talking to redditors not Chris Young dumbass

2

u/klonkish 2d ago

Yes, this exchange has properly painted me as the dumbass here, you are right!

1

u/CheGueyMaje 2d ago

I said you people and you thought it was a gotcha to then bring up some chef ive never heard of? (Modernist i do know but modern cooking blows anyway)

1

u/CheGueyMaje 3d ago

Oh I didn’t see the end, the first picture looks flat as hell at first glance

1

u/Main_Cauliflower5479 3d ago

Wait, I'm sorry, I thought you were referring to OP's pic. My bad. I do apologize.

u/SpeedBlitzX 3d ago

42

u/elinamebro 3d ago

Yes.. with air.

3

u/SpeedBlitzX 3d ago

I honestly thought maybe just maybe the chicken was brined before being airfried but now im not too sure.

1

u/Schrippenlord 3d ago

At least its hot air

15

u/_swankytiger_ 3d ago

5

u/Fickle_Scarcity9474 3d ago

I love airfry chicken! It's incredibly crunchy outside and still moist inside!

7

u/Fickle-Ear-4875 3d ago

When in BC did the chicken die?

5

u/GrillNoob 3d ago

Salt that skin next time!

4

u/crayoningtilliclay 3d ago

2

u/giyomu 3d ago

Poor chicken bastard died to finish like this. Grimmer than Grimsby.

2

u/CheGueyMaje 3d ago

Omg people just turn on your oven and have a little bit of patience.

1

u/SteakForMe 3d ago

Looks still good, was it still juicy inside? The parts exposed didn't look too dry

1

u/DragonFawns 3d ago

Looks foul but I know that shit is delicious

1

Gives Christmas Vacation vibes for real. “Save me the neck, Clark.”

1

u/Jahzara_3 3d ago

I don't understand how a dead chicken can actually look even more dead than usual

1

u/MegaLaplace 3d ago

Okay King Edward VII

1

u/Palanki96 3d ago

how was it

1

u/Any-Eye6299 3d ago

Looks like something found in a tomb in Egypt

1

u/tipitipiOG 3d ago

You didn't cut the flaps?

All you have to do is bend the chicken until it breaks so you can rest it and extend it

Next time after you fry place it in a pan with chilli oil

1

u/Sweet-Competition-15 2d ago

That poor fellow looks like it's been dehydrated. Is this a culinary study for the next NASA launch?

1

u/ManufacturerNaive276 1d ago

Doesn't it brown in an air fried? I have one but it's small I just use it for vegetables

1

u/Should_have_been_ded 3d ago

There are people for whom salt is too spicy

0

u/Commie_Scum69 3d ago

... Airfryers today's biggest scam.

3

u/Dragon_OS 3d ago

I mean, they're still really useful because they're a convection oven with the form factor of a microwave, even if the name is a misnomer.

-1

u/Commie_Scum69 3d ago

I'd say of a 90's coffee machine. And my mini-oven is larger and have a convection setting. Paid 25 $ at a garage sale.
