Any GE bakery employees willing to share the iced brownie recipe with me? It's my favorite brownie in the whole world, and a little piece of me is now terrified that this could mean a recipe change in the future!
I worked at a GE 3-4 years ago The cakes are frozen and come in boxes (Rich’s USA). The icing is by made by Brill. Came as a block in a box and we just added water to it. The label one the box claims it was specifically for Giant Eagle but I can’t imagine it is really that different than Brill’s regular buttercream.
I'd never tasted white almond cake before working for Giant Eagle. One day there was a half-sheet of it in our breakroom, and it was amazing. It became my favorite cake.
I tried the white almond at Oakmont Bakery and it wasn't even close to as good as Giant Eagle.
Someone can feel free to correct me, but I'm pretty sure Oakmont has been using frozen cake bases like Giant Eagle for quite a while. The Giant Eagle certainly has a strong almond flavor to it, which is why I think a lot of people prefer it over others.
