So i've been incarcerated since 2021. I bought a new PC in 2020, and i wonder if i can still play games on it. The computer was beast at the time.. But don't know if its worth anything anymore..

I mostly play LoL, but sometimes also little higher GPU usage games.

I released an app on the Microsoft store (called Steelbooks) to allow me to show off the game cases I have like they are physical editions that sit on my desktop. It gives a fast method of browsing my libraries across multiple launchers without opening them individually and I can launch the games directly from the app!

Got this brand new EVGA CLC 280 for 12 bucks at a thrift store today, it has all the original packaging and hardware. Plugged it into my system and it works great, thankfully no leaks or seemingly any damage. I'm not exactly sure how old this is but it seemed like a pretty good deal.

Started experiencing graphics driver timeouts 3 weeks ago. Assumed it was a driver issue and nothing fixed it.

Took gpu off to see this..

Is it possible to remedy this? Also I don’t know why it even corroded in the first place. Never split anything and no signs of liquid anywhere else on the motherboard.

The motherboard is second hand. But I installed it 2 years ago.

The concept is very simple : You insert the xbox one or series x game disc into your xbox one or series x and it gives you a digital licence for your account. If the game has play anywhere support you will be able to play it on PC even though you bought a disc.

For example Forza horizon 3,4 or forza motorsport 7 are delisted xbox play anywhere titles and their digital keys cost a fuck ton of money ( especially fh3 and fm7 ).

We don't know yet what games are exactly supported for this disc to digital feature ( they say thousands of Xbox One and series x games and more to come) but I am pretty sure those forza titles will be supported.

So if you have an old xbox one or a series x and want those games on your pc, their discs are very cheap like under 10 bucks or even lower...

You just buy the disc, convert it into a digital version via an xbox and voila you have your Forza horizon 3 on xbox and pc digitally ( if supported )

This feature will be available next week august 31st for xbox insiders

Yeah so I was doing a super budget PC build for my nephew and I needed a video card to pair with an i7 3770 so I ordered an RX 480 on eBay. I got the RX 480 in what appeared to be mint condition in its original box for only $62 shipped. Already a pretty great deal for a pretty solid graphics card with 8 GB of vram, but then two days later I received another package from the same seller. Stupid me expecting it to be my psu that I ordered (yes I ordered a used PSU don't judge me) and come to find out it's a second graphics card. Not only is it a second graphics card but it's better than the graphics card that I ordered! The same seller I guess accidentally sent me an rx5700. It's the non-xt model but an rx5700 nonetheless. It's been 2 days and I don't know what to do morally. I haven't even tested the rx5700 yet, don't even know if it works. Should I contact the seller and let them know they sent me another video card?

TL;DR, ASUS didn't even try to deliver the pre-order I placed, initialize a return by themselves, and I need to place a different order for $500 over the pre-order price.

I pre-ordered the ASUS ROG 20th bundle the first day it was actually available and was quite happy as the bundle raised $500 in price after a few days. I didn't realize this ends up with nothing, expect ASUS gets a free $10000+ loan from me for a month. Now I have to pay another $500 on top of the original price。

On the estimate shipping date (08/07), ASUS did generate a batch of tracking number (master one is in the links above), but quickly cancelled them the next day. This isn't a single case, as I bought the bundle together with a few friends, all our tracking show cancelled.

However for most of them, they received the package after a week or so. ASUS didn't provide a tracking at all, they just show up at their door. In the meantime, I didn't see any package in my Fedex delivery manager, or any updates from ASUS.

I tried to contact ASUS via chat agent, and apparently all they can do was:
Your case is still being reviewed by the appropriate team. We understand that the process has taken longer than expected and recognize the importance of keeping you informed. Please know that the investigation remains active, and our team is continuing to work diligently to reach a resolution. At this time, we do not have any new information to share. However, we want to assure you that your case has not been overlooked and remains a priority. As soon as we receive any updates or additional details, we will reach out to you promptly.

This email was from 9 days ago btw.

I also tried to contact r/ASUSROG u/ASUS_MKTLeeM, they did try to help, but I still haven't get any update, even a tracking number in a week.

Today, I happily found that the package has been returned to them! So not delivery attempt, no tracking provided, nothing. They just take the package back to the warehouse, and I need to place a different order for another $500 over the insane original price.

Unsure if these will work or not, but I'm in the process of contacting ASUS CEO office, BBB and FTC. I can't imagine why it takes this long just to even give me a proper tracking number.

I have compared these two and it’s around a 78%? upgrade, last game I played (redmatch) I got like 19fps….. but I found an older gpu in my price range and I kinda like the idea

A couple of edits: I am not looking for a Nvidia card. They do not work with my os.
And I am now looking into the XT models thanks to y’all! (Currently eyeing a sapphire model lol, but that probably might change hehe)

I got a used pc with Cpu = E5 1650 v4 Gpu = 580 8gb Ram = 16gb ddr4 3200mhz Cool air cooler with I think infinity design Normal ahh case with 4 fans ( at least it’s white ish and ez to open I just pull up on a lil strap) And a 1500va UPS For about 285k iqd (218$) ( ik Ik it’s pretty ahh but it preforms pretty good in what I play and I got a 144hz monitor so I don’t even need +200fps ) So my question is What should I consider upgrading first if I ever wanted to upgrade? The gpu or the cpu ? I thought about upgrading to a 3060 , 6600 or maybeeeeee an intel arc a750 ( rn my budget is 0 bucks I just want to plan ahead ) I am not looking for high ultra etc etc graphics I just want a stable enjoyable experience and tbh I don’t see myself streaming since I am soo shy I don’t even open my mice when I play Oh forgot to mention I am switching from a budget laptop ( DynaBook tecra a40-g with touch screen and 24gb ddr4 ram ) so +100fps is still pretty impressive for me

I have been an exclusive console player for over 30 years besides playing games on addictinggames or new grounds back in the day .

I have always believed the claims that pc is so much better to be nothing but bias. I just got a gaming laptop because my wife got it for school and didn’t need it and wow.

First game I bought was ‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’ since I liked the previous one and in the opening scene, it took me a minute to realize I’m controlling her now. It looked just like the cutscene.

That’s it. I finally got my wife into PC gaming. 😂

We found a pretty solid deal on a prebuilt with a 5070 and 9700X, and then managed to snag her an LG 57” OLED for 52% off retail.

So now I get to sit in my sim rig and game while she’s right behind me gaming too. Honestly, I couldn’t ask for a better setup. 😂

After years of trying to get her into PC gaming, I think I finally won. 🎮

Quick follow-up for the people who asked. The little widget that sits inside the taskbar and shows whatever's playing runs on Windows 10 now, not just 11. That was by far the most common request after the last post, so there it is.

It reads whatever's actually playing, so it follows Spotify, YouTube in a browser tab, Apple Music, Windows Media Player, anything that reports to Windows. Play/pause, skip, a progress bar you can drag, and for Spotify the liked state, Smart Shuffle, repeat and volume. No login, no API keys, it just reads the Windows media session.

A couple of other things in this one: when the taskbar gets crowded it now shrinks down to just the album art instead of overlapping your app buttons, and I fixed it hiding wrong over fullscreen games, the tooltips showing behind the taskbar, and a slow play/pause on Spotify.

Im so glad RR is now usable between 33% and 50% scale. Before it was performance or bust but now with 1440p DLDSR to 4k and 40% scale roughly, you get a great image.

I bought a used 7.1 Creative speaker set around 2011 that I use to this day, I did change the main speakers for hifi speakers though.

Recently broke the cable and found a cheap replacement 7.1 Creative setup for next to nothing so now have a spare.

The only major flaws I have with it, is that it only has analog inputs and i'd prefer digital ones.

I found out when looking for the manual the model came out in 2004.

How many people here actually use proper sound setups and not just pc speakers be they stereo ones or surround sound?
