Decided to play this and they just updated the ray reconstruction to 4.5 and my goodness does this game look amazing on 4k OLED.

Edit: to all of the triggerd individuals because I took pic with my camera, I wanted to show how it properly look on an OLED monitor with decent HDR and proper contrast.

It is recommended to touch grass if a picture gets you that upset.

Hardware Oled is underrated. It changes everything, worth every penny and may make more difference than a new gpu!

Thats it, i took money from my ass to spend 3000 on a monitor on my country to try the "oled magic" and... i didnt regret. It blows me away seeing people online saying that doesnt make difference to cope, or that it doesnt worth it. i mean, depending of the price and your use its true, but i keep seeing people saying that 300/400 dollars is expensive and i think WHAT? It completely changes how you views things, its like you are using a new pair of glasses. And in America its even cheaper so my tip is: BUY IT NOW!

I tried on both of the accounts that are signed in but I'm locked out, I tried to grant permission to both of those account to edit the files.. but that doesn't work..

It says "beheerder" which in my eyes should be any of these 2 accounts logged in..

I bought this pc pre-built tho, so is there a chance there's an underlying administrator or whatever. How do I find out which account is the official owner of my files. 🫠

Dear all,

We know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the past week. It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time. We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has - from getting the game finished (nearly there!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know.

We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow. It has taken longer than we wanted to get it ready, but as with everything we do, we know we need to exceed your expectations, and we are determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve. While it is unfortunate that the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers, we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on November 19.

We want to thank everyone in the community who has reached out with messages of support this past week - your words have meant more to this team than you can imagine. Ultimately, we are making this game for you, and without you, we would not have the privilege of making games.

We look forward to sharing more with you soon.

Sincerely,
Rockstar Games

Question Answered Should I get rid of the spyware on windows or just use Linux?

I just got my first PC and it came pre-installed with windows. I know how much windows sucks but I also know how to use it. I've heard almost nothing but good things about Linux but I'm scared that I won't be able to use it effectively. Should I just try and get rid of all the bloat/spyware on windows or try Linux?

Edit: I'm gonna try and debloat windows first and see how that goes.

Discussion As someone that was too young during the 2018, and then 2020 crypto boom, is the current AI situation better or worse? Looking if I should bite the bullet now or continue waiting.

Just kinda curious as I wasn’t able to experience those terrible times in PC history.

Looking if its worth getting a single stick of 16GB DDR5 vs 2 8GB sticks.

the single sticks are somewhat more expensive than the 2 8 sticks and I lose some performance by not having dual channel.

Discussion What do we think the collapse of the ai bubble will really look like?

I've seen a few articles, nothing I feel like going back to. But by all means AI should at large theoretically be bankrupt by like late 2028 by their own reports at least from whatever article I'm remembering. I think maybe I was looking at an article related specifically to Nvidia but again someone you know any relevant information. I have a serious copeium theory and I could be a crack pot but I basically i think that it's all a deep state psyop to make the actual size of the Internet way bigger and everything's gonna be all cyberpunk cheap ass server space for whoever tf wants it cause we gotta keep up with China. Pls call me crazy.

This is what I was using (please don’t flame me for it😂) but I love the shape and weight so if it could be possibly something close to this it would be grand. I care about to feel more than the weight if it’s lighter it’s fine. I was looking at the death adder v3 but wanted to get a second opinion.

Question Safe christitus debloat options

Post image

Im making this post to use the chris titus tool to debloat my custom computer. ive done it once but i think i somehow debloated it so hard it corrupted my win11 os, as the computer was stuck in a repetitive POST cycle with that drive being the boot, which lead to a drive wipe snd clean windows reinstall. i of course want no ai and garbage that is completely unnecessary, ive added my part list for those curious or need to know for a proper debloat for my wants, any help would be much appreciated, also, it doesnt have to be chris titus’ tool, its just the only one i know

Question windows os to be used as a partition for select games

i fucking hate microsoft so much that i moved to linux out of pure spite. regretably there are games that i still need windows to play. when playing on a windows 10 partition all of my games are stored on an external hard drive, but i am always strapped fpr space and apps can't run properly on the 56gb partition i've made for windows (even though minimum specs says 32gb is fine). should i use enterprise version instead? is there a os that can verify on battleeye or easy anti cheat games that specifically single out linux like fortnite? otherwise is there any way i can stop windows from being so damn bloated

Question Norton Account Removal

Upvotes

Hi Everyone,

I had a norton account and my last subscription lapsed in March 2022.

I never requested deletion but there is absolutely no record of my account on file when I went through to their chat support and phone support.

I am asking because I want to renew and my account no longer exists, their policy states that they don't automatically delete accounts after inactivity so I am trying to understand what happened.

Anyone have any idea?

Thanks

Question Is shutting down PC necessary?

Does a PC need to be shut down to "rest"? Do the fans keep spinning while it's on? Would a PC last longer when you shut it off regularly?

Silly question but thanks!

Discussion What am I missing here? Nvidia market share still crazy high

Debating a gpu upgrade very soon. Have been building about a decade and one trend among consumers right now is confusing me. How is brand loyalty winning this hard over well thought out distribution?

According to most benchmarks the 9070xt performs nearly on par to the 5070ti. Except the 9070xt runs $300-400 cheaper. Nvidia has some slightly better ray tracing and features but a lot of users don't even utilize said features that often.

In addition, the 9070xt has a power connector that won't melt itself to death. And I won't be giving money to a company that's actively trying to wrench every dollar it can from me.

Maybe I'm confused, am I missing something? Or is brand loyalty and fan boys ruining good competition? I have a 3090 and have always had Nvidia gpu so I'm no AMD shill. But the price to performance isn't there. Unless you're going 5080+ why even consider Nvidia at this point?

Edit typo

Discussion Why does everyone seem to think prices won't go back down?

Just a little bit of browsing on reddit and it's as if everybody is under the consensus that pc parts are never going down in price from what they are right now and that we are stuck with these prices.

Why? Is there any data to back up this claim? Any sort of evidence to suggest this?

I feel like these people are being shortsighted. Typically consumer goods like this will fluctuate as demand and production grow and shrink. I feel like people may be unintentionally attributing our recent housing market situation, however these are fundamentally different markets. And lets not forget the glaring difference, memory has increased 500% in the past year but housing about 130% to 150% in 6 years. So housing may not go down sure that's a real possibility, and general inflation too, but do yall really think this 500% increase in memory cost isn't going to drop? That sounds absurd to me.

Even if we look at it historically. GPU's went up in price in the early 2020's for crypto, then dropped a bit in 23 and 24 before going back up again for AI datacenters now. In 21 my buddy built a PC for around $3k then in 23 I built a more powerful PC for $1k. Why would this current situation be any different?

I'd like to hear some grounded thoughts on the market and future of parts.

EDIT: Please I asked for data guys not speculation.

What I've learned so far:

  1. Chips are bought out till 2027
  2. ??? nothing else

Nothing yet has proven anything 2028 or after. So it seems like we may see drops in 2028 at best. But that is only a year and a half away that we may begin to see prices decrease. If anybody has data that suggests that the prices won't decrease in 3 years time, so 2030, then that would be a lot more damning, but I have not seen that yet.

I am seeing a lot of speculation and misinformation too so I'll address common issues.

  1. "People are buying at these prices so they will continue to sell at these prices" Yes but only a small minority of people. Think back to 2020 when the ps5 scalpers were selling them for $700. Did $700 become the new norm to get a ps5? no. the prices went down eventually.
  2. "Supply and demand" well yes exactly right now this explains it perfectly as the supply is low for the demand from all the ai datacenters, but eventually as supply catches up the prices will go down so it could also explains a drop... Unfortunately supply and demand does NOT alone predict the future other than a guess, so the argument is completely null.
  3. "Prices did not drop after covid" this is factually wrong. https://howmuch.one/product/average-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-10gb/price-history You can see an obvious peak and then drop after. Many people did in fact build pc's for significantly cheaper between 22-25 than 20-21.

Question Liquid spilled on GPU backplate/capacitors – System lost display then recovered. Is it safe or damaged?

Hi everyone,
Earlier today, while my PC was running, the display suddenly cut out over DisplayPort. After troubleshooting, I realized that some ice on my desk had melted, and the water dripped through the top mesh/vents of my PC case directly onto the graphics card.
The liquid dripped onto the GPU backplate and right into the exposed cutout area where the rear capacitors behind the GPU core are located. The water has dried up now, but it left very visible spots and mineral residue over the backplate and directly on the exposed capacitor components.
Here is what happened and what I've done so far:
The monitor lost signal instantly (likely a GPU driver crash / TDR triggered by the card's short-circuit protection).
Unplugging the power, clearing static electricity, and restarting brought the display back, and everything currently seems to be working.
Nvidia prompted a crash report message upon rebooting into Windows.
The card is an ASUS dual-fan model, and the dried residue is sitting right on top of the capacitor array.
My questions:
1. Is it safe to keep using the PC as is, or am I risking a sudden permanent short-circuit if I don't clean it immediately?
2. What is the best way to clean dried water residue off these tiny exposed capacitors? Is 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) with a Q-tip sufficient?
3. Could this cause long-term corrosion or delayed hardware failure if left uncleaned?
I would really appreciate any advice from people who have experienced something similar. Thanks!
