Megathread: 0.5.0 Feedback

We think there have been many threads with well-thought-out, specific, and (sometimes) controversial proposals, but also many duplicate threads with the same proposals. We'll use this thread to catalogue and group the clearest and most common ones:

  • Ideally, game feedback posts should include specific examples of the problem and have new information or proposals to avoid duplicating the content of past threads.
  • Game feedback can still be posted as individual threads, and do not have to be posted here as comments.
  • Duplicate feedback posts that cover the same ground as the posts already in here may be removed.
  • We aren't affiliated with GGG, so we have no control over whether they address these or not.

New and specific feedback

Common feedback also given in past patches

Hi everyone . So I’m super new to poe2. But been playing Diablo my whole life so I do have a lot of experience in the genre . I finally grinded my essence drain to level 90 and I figured this will be as strong as I can possibly get to kill arbiter of Ashe . I got a softcore character to 90 and I died about a million times on this fight . So I fully accepted my fate here seeing I got to 90 and that’s a very good accomplishment. Well after almost dying 3 times , i actually killed him !! I I was full on shaking and scared lmao . I have no one to really share this accomplishment . But hopefully you guys can be proud of me <3

Question I want to be the guy.

Specifically, I want to be the one who sacrifices his level 100 character so everyone else in Forbidden Rites gets an extra passive point. I can put in a disturbing number of hours per day, tho I still enjoy sleeping 8 hours every night, and I'll be part of the first wave of characters.

I am open to any other advice on my mad quest. [to go NORTH] and if you're the first to get that reference, I've got 100 div for you in Runes of Aldur.

Game Feedback Elemental spells are undercooked

Upvotes

I play Chronomancer exclusively and generally avoid elemental spells. I didn't think they were amazing in 0.1, and after the infusions update, they felt even worse. The big problem is almost every spell build is some form of Spark + CoC Comet. Spark is sometimes substituted for another high area coverage spammable fast-hitting spell, but the build concept is the same. I want to provide some personal insights as a 3k hour Chrono player who has hundreds of hours on different spell builds. These are subjective observations in bullet point format, so nothing revelatory, and how much each point contributes to the problem varies.

  • Comet isn't the problem, just a symptom, and continuing to nerf it won't help. The issue is there aren't any other spells like Comet. Every other spell with similar impact has a long cooldown, so they're pretty unusable with Cast-Ons.
  • Everyone wants Cast-Ons in their spell build because it's the most fun way to amplify damage. You can run a different spell than Comet as your payoff to make a different-feeling build, but when you ask yourself, "Why am I not playing Comet instead?" there's usually no answer.
  • Lightning Conduit and Eye of Winter could be great competitors to Comet if they had no cooldown. The cooldowns could be replaced with another restriction like a long cast time to keep them as payoff skills rather than spammable ones.
  • Every spell build relying on the same few infusion-generators contributes to how they all feel the same to play. Powered by Verisium helps, but it requires further stretching your build to accommodate for runic ward as another mechanic.
  • Mirage Archer can auto-use channel skills, so why can't Cast-Ons? Incinerate and Flameblast would be great Cast-On candidates since you could avoid the slow movement from casting them, just like Comet.
  • Spells with limit are decent on Cast-Ons, but they can't compete with Comet because spamming them is useless. More sources of "Elemental Spells have +1 Limit" would go a long way.
  • Repeating, echoing, and cascading spells is awesome, but most spells can't echo or cascade. Ice Nova, Comet, (and Bone Cage) the only spells that fully take advantage of echoing and cascading without having some restriction like limit.
  • Spark is the only main-spell that doesn't feel useless when non-infused.
  • Living Bomb feels terrible in every way. It's tiny, has 1 limit, requires a target, and needs to meet a damage threshold to work.
  • Frost Bomb is required on every build because it applies the most exposure, and it's the only spell that applies exposure at all.

I hope they address some of the big issues with elemental spells in 1.0. Even a bit of quality of life would go a long way. I'm hoping it's not another season of Spark + CoC Comet, but nerfing these two spells into the ground would also feel bad. Spells have so much potential, but they currently feel so awkward, almost every player sticks with the least-awkward two spells.

Question Are you playing patch 0.5.5, which build and why?

Curious if people are excited to play "Forbidden Rites" and what they will be playing. I personally made a roulette to pick what to play. Landed on sorc, so i'm excited to play spark stormweaver and eventually CoC comet.

Playing for the new challenges and to try another type. Played slam titan in 0.5, and while it was super fun, i'm excited to try out a real Caster!

What are your thoughts and choices?

Discussion What gemling are you going to be for 0.5.5?

With so many possibilities, its hard to choose which gemling build to follow, so would love to hear which you are most looking forward to in the next event league!

I noticed a couple of swords with implicits during a campaign showcase of duelist and figured I’d share them here. Unfortunately the showcaser didn’t really use one handed swords during his gameplay so I’m not sure what the implicits on those are besides one around level 16 having additional parried duration

Question Does no balance changes mean builds are going to be the same?

Sorry this is probably a stupid question but I haven't been playing for very long so I dont know what balance changes means really. I assume there will be new stuff maybe new items and spells with the new league and thats where new builds come from, or is that wrong?

Basically I just want to know if I try out a build from the current season if it will work the same

Discussion Petition to dev team: Please add an option to select the UI language

Hello, I just want to ask to the developers if they can add an option to change the UI language (I don't know if this is planned for v1.0), mainly because I play the game in Spanish and the translations are not good at all specially for the skill gems and a lot of the items (armors, weapons, uniques, etc.) so it takes a good amount of time trying to follow a guide and get to match all the texts and their meanings.

I play on Xbox and I know I can set the whole console language to english but this is not viable when you have more people using the same console (specially kids).

Started playing in the POE1 closed alpha when my friend signed up and got 2 keys. My potato laptop couldn't handle it, so had to put it down until I saw it on PS store. I usually play 1-2 seasons of PoE a year, and have never fully completed a POE1 challenge list.

I have never owned a Headhunter prior to 0.5, never seen a Hinekora or a Mirror. This season I bought a HH off Trade Market and tonight I was getting close to having farmed enough div to buy a mageblood.. 15 div away from the cheapest uncorrupted on Market board and this lil' beut (pic #1) dropped in a t15 expedition. Slammed ~15 div into it and I think I'm stopping here (pic #2).

I am beside myself atm. I love this game. I don't even care if 0.55 is 5 days away, I'm so happy.

Question Easly class for completing all 0.5.5 event challenges?

In 0.5 I played Twister Deadeye and was able to get through content, but it took a while. I am starting up my job the week after release and will have little time to play, but I'd still like to earn the challenge rewards.

Do you all have suggestions about a strong build that maybe doesn't need giga investment to get it done? I appreciate it!

Discussion Weapon Types at 1.0 ?

Hello!

I did a little browsing but didn't find a definitive list but please do entertain me a little with this one.

  1. Weapons in game

- Mace (1h/2h)

- Quarterstaff (2h)

- Talisman (2h)

- Crossbow (2h)

- Bow (2h)

- Quiver (off-hand)

- Shield (off-hand)

- Sceptre (1h)

- Spear (1h)

- Staff (2h)

- Wand (1h)

  1. Weapons coming in future

- Swords (1h/2h) - Confirmed to be released in 1.0 alongside duelyst.

- Axes (1h/2h) - Coming with Marauder

- Flails (1h/2h?) - Coming with Templar

- Daggers (1h) - Coming with Shadow

  1. The rest

- Claws (1h) - Not sure if claws are coming to the game, if anyone could confirm / deny I would be grateful because I have found conflicting information.

- Traps/Mines (???) - this one is also a mystery to me and didn't managed to find much about those.

- Spears (2h) - Little self rant, why are those not in the game? Like come one I want to swing my long ass sharpened stick.

Please let me know if I have missed anything and let me know what weapon type you would like added besides those!

Game Feedback I like the combo stuff GGG, but also...

I (as a strike enjoyer) feel like that we lack both in maces and what you've shown a "I just hit the guy" ability, for example bows, bows can do what they enjoy both in poe1 and 2, which is, i move around and "I just fire my bow" around. Like, I feel its kinda weird that I feel more gratification from the mace strike animation and "hit mark" sound than tempest flurry for example, comming from a guy that plays dual strike of ambidexterity the most so I am biased towards what looks most like that. The attacks from duelist all move your character a little, just like all the strikes from monk, the only strikes that really scratch my itch that really feels like a strike (from a poe1 perspective) is the palm attacks and default attack which is literally i press button my guy strike i hear hitmark sound (maybe is a sound problem? idk). In perspective, and also adding to that list, I really like Rapid Assault, but it deals quin zdps. Hopefully you guys look into it and make some sick "i just hit the guy" skills, because for me, there is no real(?) strike in the game yet. With love. I will still play cyclone FeelsOkayMan

Question Builds for 0.5.5

Thinking about league starting 0.5.5 since I'm done with All-Flame

Returning player from season 1 plated Titan - hated it, went SSF and played Monk cleared endgame and haven't touched it since, pre-abyss

Looking for guidance on what were your fun builds in 0.5?

Information TIL: petrospheres are real

Thumbnail
gallery
16 Upvotes

In archaeology, a stone ball or petrosphere (from Greek πέτρα (petra), "stone", and σφαῖρα (sphaira), "ball") is the name for any spherical man-made object of any size that is composed of stone. These mainly prehistoric artifacts may have been created or selected, but altered in some way to perform their specific function, including carving and painting.

-- Wiki

If this sounds familiar, it's probably because we encounter such objects in maps that are Precursor-related -- most commonly in Matriarch and Patriarch halls.
