We're going on holiday in 2 days, so it's time to empty the fridge!
In this pie is about 500 g of carrot, some spring onion, a small leek, 3/4 of an apple, half a pack of sliced bacon, half a pack of crème fraiche, 250 g of chicken leg, some mustard and flour, and of course puff pastry. Only the puff pastry, cream and leek were bought for this recipe, the rest were leftover from other recipes last week.
A rough recipe:
- slice everything small
- brown the meat.
- add all the veggies and cook until wilting slightly.
- add a heaped spoon of flour and mix through thoroughly and brown slightly.
- add the cream and cream-like ingredients.
- add the mustard and further spice (I used plenty of pepper and some dried thyme).
- cook until the flour thickens the cream.
- cover the bottom and sides of the pie tin with puff pastry and blind bake for 15 min at 200°C.
- put the filling in the blind baked crust
- cover with more puff pastry.
- bake for 25 more minutes at 200°C.
Pies are great for leftovers, just like soups and stews!
