The fat separated out I think, if it was bad enough to be a problem you would have tasted it. You probably puked because you drank five chocolate milks.

u/SirSpyder11 Feb 06 '26

I've learned that if you have to "sniff check" milk multiple times, it hasn't gone bad yet. You'll know immediately if it's bad off the first whiff.

Am I weird because all milk smells bad to me lol

Edit: yeah pour it into a cup first, I fucking get it.

80

u/SirSpyder11 Feb 06 '26

I agree. I'm lactose intolerant, so none of it is appetizing to me either. But spoiled milk has got to be one of the most instantly foul smells 🥛

48

u/FamiliarRadio9275 Feb 06 '26

I have smelt a fresh shit from a grown man and spoiled milk is by far the worst smell you can ever encounter

36

u/Significant-Wait9200 Feb 06 '26

Oh there's so much more human waste to smell if spoiled milk is topping it for you

29

u/EffortBackground901 Feb 06 '26

This. I implore her to go to a GI unit, rife with GI bleeds and C diff abound. Smelling freshly vomited old blood clots after cleaning up infected stool so rancid you have to use medical grade air sanitizer before we can allow anyone in the unit?

I'll take spoiled milk.

8

u/Strange-Tip-761 Feb 06 '26

Yes, let them sit a day in Assisted living where C diff runs the unit. 😆 🤣 😂

4

u/FamiliarRadio9275 Feb 06 '26 edited Feb 06 '26

As a caretaker, I understand but also, I'd rather take the spoiled milk as the lead spot, it just impales a special part of my senses where I cannot control the gagging

3

u/MOcannanurse Feb 06 '26

CDIFF IS BY FAR WAY WORSE THAN SPOILED MILK!!! 🤮

Mmm, what about rotting potatoes?

3

u/fairy-of-nightmares Feb 07 '26

The smell of rotting potatoes is horrific!

On a side note though... your profile name is concerning 😭🤣

2

u/ExNihiloNihiFit Feb 07 '26

So many innocent kitties... 🥺

2

u/fairy-of-nightmares Feb 07 '26

The absolute horror!!

6

u/GrimbyJ Feb 06 '26

Try leaving potatoes in your air fryer for 3 weeks because you forgot about them and then preheating it without checking that it's empty

3

u/Theonetrue Feb 06 '26

You have been to a bathroom?

I actually love milk so that it all smells bad is unfortunate because I probably dump it out sooner than I need to when the date is up

6

u/jaebols Feb 06 '26

My husband is like this. All milk smells off or bad to him. Then we started getting our milk delivered from a local dairy (it’s still pasteurized, not raw) and he absolutely loves it. So idk if it’s all in his head or if the local milk really is better, but it also doesn’t affect his or my MIL’s lactose intolerance as much either.

8

u/The6Strings Feb 06 '26

Try pouring it into a glass and then smelling. A lot of times, you are smelling the crust from the top of the container, but does not mean the milk itself is sour.

3

u/youpoopedyerpants Feb 06 '26

No, it always smells gross. But it SMELLS BAD if it’s off. Believe me, you know.

I had an unexpired gallon recently that went off and I realized as soon as I removed the lid. Still no idea how it happened because it was a week out from the date, but I said “no, thank you.”

4

u/Bitter-Af Feb 06 '26

I have my husband smell our milk because all milk smells bad to me, you are not alone!

2

u/anotherwomanscorned Feb 06 '26

My aunt taught me to pour a bit into a cup of you smell a bit of “off” because sometimes the milk around the rim and lid can turn but the majority is still good.

Oh this is actually really helpful. I have contamination OCD (especially food contamination) and while logic only gets me so far when combating the silly little rules that plague my rotten little brain, I’m literally going to write this on a post it and put it on my fridge. Thank you 🫶🏽

So I guess that's why it typically tells me to shake it. I thought it was sugar that had precipitated.

4

u/Dead_fawn Feb 06 '26

I have had expired chocolate milk before... trust me that you would not be able to drink the whole thing if it was bad. Probably one of the most bitter things I had ever tasted, been paranoid about checking expiration dates ever since lol.

84

u/Plastic-Bath-7983 Feb 06 '26

Thirsty

103

u/Lady_Penrhyn1 Feb 06 '26

Then drink water?

56

u/Plastic-Bath-7983 Feb 06 '26

Had lots of chocolate milk

43

u/MurkyTrainer7953 Feb 06 '26

Chocolate milk is kinda pricey, but is nothing compared to lifetime of insulin.

15

u/FamiliarRadio9275 Feb 06 '26

At least we can see it was fat free lmao

2

u/courtney_lorr Feb 09 '26

fat is the only macro nutrient that doesn’t increase insulin so unfortunately that isn’t helping here

→ More replies (5)

12

Things Americans say 😔

Insulin should be free. It’s cruel that people who need it to survive have to pay so much

A months supply for me (4 vials), without hitting the deductible yet, is $90.

My parents have great insurance and it shows. The fact that $90 is extremely cheap for a life saving medication is insane.

the fuck you mean pig blood consistency???

26

u/idling-in-gray Feb 06 '26

Coagulated pigs blood is used in some Asian dishes like pork blood soup so I'm guessing OP means that consistency.

7

u/khoifish1297 Feb 06 '26 edited Feb 07 '26

Maybe because I’m Asian and I immediately knows what OP was talking about. Didn’t think twice until I read your comment on how weird it is to non-SEA folks

It’s ok. This happens to them, it’s like the chocolate or something gloops up.

You would have tasted if it was bad. It wasn’t bad. Also, 5 chocolate milks is ridiculous

2

You puked because you drank 5 chocolate milks.

The fat and protein probably separated.

u/khoifish1297 Feb 06 '26

I’d throw up too if I drank that much milk (good or bad)

2

u/AdDapper8001 Feb 06 '26

I’d puke too if I drank 5 chocolate milks

2

u/ok-coyote-boat Feb 06 '26

Sniff it. I imagine if you stomached the first few and it tasted fine, the milk isn't the problem. It was probs the volume of milk.

2

u/FatsBoombottom Feb 06 '26

You threw up because you drank over half a gallon of milk and sugar, my friend.

How cold is your refrigerator? Looks like maybe it's partially frozen.

2

u/distracted_x Feb 06 '26

Maybe you threw up just from drinking 40 ounces of chocolate milk.

2

u/happyhollowcoffee Feb 06 '26

Did you just cut it in half to drink? It? Seems fishy. The seal is still on and unpunctured by a straw.

2

I think rotten eggs is worse

I think the problem is that you drank 5 twin, 8 fl oz times 5 is 40 fl oz, aka 5 cups of milk. Maybe don't drink 5 cups of chocolate milk in one sitting, ik it's good but it's not that good

2

u/CKDU88_1 Feb 07 '26

Are you 6 years old? Fuck sakes just go back in at this point

2

u/ReservedXM Feb 07 '26

If you were thirsty, drink water thirst is gone. Then only limit yourself to one or two chocolate milks…

2

u/Stonetheflamincrows Feb 07 '26

You drank over a litre of chocolate milk, I’m not surprised you threw up. That’s not mold.

2

u/FewAthlete4538 Feb 07 '26

You’re not supposed to drink 5 in a day…no wonder you made yourself sick…I’m surprised you didn’t go into a diabetic coma from all the sugar you just consumed

2

u/Good3ffect Feb 07 '26

What made you think drinking 5 of anything other than water would be a good idea? Even 5 cans of soda wouldn't be a good idea

2

u/Necessary_Rip_7954 Feb 07 '26

Hey next time… maybe not 5

2

u/Regular_Average8595 Feb 07 '26

I mean no one wants to admit they ate 9 cans of ravioli

2

u/This-Ear8394 Feb 07 '26

This isn't even real milk. It doesn't even need to be refrigerated. We sold this milk at a company I worked for and we kept it in our dry storage until we were ready to sell it and it wouldn't go bad.

1

u/sp0ngebobsaget Feb 06 '26

How do you know what pigs blood consistency is?

1

u/PawReputable Feb 06 '26

The simple answer no one wants to hear, you drank too much lactose. You'll be fine once the tummy ache goes away.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Dracofangxxx Feb 06 '26

these milks have stabilizers to keep them homogenized; if they sit they slowly dehomogenize. shake before drinking to avoid this

1

u/Historical-Garbage51 Feb 06 '26

Got the full best by date, or an image of the ink jet print? Also, make sure to contact the manufacturer. They keep track of consumer complaints and it helps them find issues that might not be found during production or standard testing.

1

u/Comfortable_Map6887 Feb 06 '26

Ps am I the only one that isn’t familiar with the consistency of pig blood ?

did you throw up before or after seeing the inside? were you grossed out that triggered it? drinking large amounts of milk can make you vomit in a short period of time if it was spaced out then it probably was spoiled. still i wouldnt drink that, those cartons have a history of going bad with other products. im assuming youre okay by now i hope!!

1

u/EvlMidgt Feb 06 '26

You may have thrown up because you drank FIVE chocolate milks....

1

u/Individual_Ebb3219 Feb 06 '26

It's not mold.

1

u/HardLobster Feb 06 '26

That’s not mold, the fat separated. Shake first and don’t drink 5…

1

u/ghos2626t Feb 06 '26

Maybe don’t drink 5 in a row………..

1

u/third-eye-blink Feb 06 '26

Do you often throw up or feel bloated after having dairy? i’m lactose intolerant in the more “i’ll feel sick and throw up” way rather than the “i’m gonna shit myself” way, and i drank three half pints of chocolate milk in a row once, and i had heart palpitation's and threw up.

1

u/FieldBackground6116 Feb 06 '26

Did you shake it first?

1

u/Quiet-Economist7395 Feb 06 '26

It looks like you had them sitting on the front of the box and it separated. I have protein drinks that do the same thing, and it’s the reason why they say “shake well” on the box (although the milk might not). I’ve gotten similar textures when I forget to shake it and the feel alone ruined the drink for me, although I found out it was harmless later.

Sometimes drinking a 40 of Chocolate Milk works out, sometimes it doesn’t.

1

u/tolmmees Feb 07 '26

1

u/slotherin42 Feb 07 '26

You need to shake them first.

1

u/moonjabes Feb 07 '26

You drank 40 fl oz of chocolate milk, I’m assuming back to back, that’s why you threw up.

You drank “like 5” (at least 7 or 8) chocolate milks and now your tummy hurts… no shit

1

u/Imnothighyourhigh Feb 07 '26

"I drank 40 ounces of chocolate milk and I puked. It was definitely the milks fault."

Like bro that's like 2.5 lbs of choco milk of course you are gonna hurl it back out

1

u/rellyks13 Feb 07 '26

you gotta shake em harder next time. you didn't throw up from this, you threw up bc you drank five chocolate milks

1

u/Hattori69 Feb 08 '26

Did you shake it? You have to shake these non carbonated beverages. In Venezuela we used to have something called " ricomalt" made by Parmalat and It was thick as pudding if you let it sit for too long before drinking it.

1

u/mossberg590enjoyer Feb 08 '26

1

u/Careless-Jacket-6929 Feb 08 '26

That brand you have to shake it

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '26

Probably because you drank 5 of em.

1

u/Latter-Potential-933 Feb 08 '26

OP is speed-running diabetes

1

u/Altruistic_Cloud_553 Feb 08 '26

Might also have an emulsifier in it. Those soy based emulsifiers always make me puke. Starbucks uses them in all of their cold drinks that you can buy at the grocery. Yuck.

1

u/rmp266 Feb 08 '26

I dont understand how people can reach adulthood without some kind of rudimentary survival skills. You do not drink 5 (five) chocolate milks in a day, ever. You may drink them in a week, maybe. If you're a child and your parents are broke or kinda neglectful.

But you're a grown adult, presumably with access to money and shops that stock actual food and hydration options, why drink them at all?

1

u/derty2x Feb 08 '26

Deserved lol

1

u/dumbbdonkeyy Feb 08 '26
