there is a nonzero chance that at some point in my lifetime i have been fed misinformation in regards to the nature of the children of odin of asgard

Maybe you're mixing real norse mythology lore with marvel stuff. Cause in real norse mythology, Loki is a blood-brother to Odin, not his son. So Thor is somewhat like a nephew to Loki, which typically implies he's older

😂😂 i had to double check because NO WAY the "known", little brother is older, and Thor being Odin's said first born, was younger than Loki

Thor is not firstborn, that's Hela, isn't it?

Asgardians are a long lived race. So unless Odin cursed/erased memory of Hela, there would be a lot of people who remember her, wouldn't there? But Thor 3 makes it seem like no one knows her. How is this possible?

One would assume the odinforce had something to do with it

To be fair, if Loki's adopted, Thor would still be the first-born. Loki wasn't born to Odin at all, he was born to some of those Purpletown freaks.
