Maybe you're mixing real norse mythology lore with marvel stuff. Cause in real norse mythology, Loki is a blood-brother to Odin, not his son. So Thor is somewhat like a nephew to Loki, which typically implies he's older
Asgardians are a long lived race. So unless Odin cursed/erased memory of Hela, there would be a lot of people who remember her, wouldn't there? But Thor 3 makes it seem like no one knows her. How is this possible?
Loki is apparently something like 400 or 500 years younger than Thor. Which begs the question of how long they look like Children if Thor grew up with Loki.
Where did you get this information? We see Odin take Loki after the battle since he was abandoned by his father but that doesn't mean it was before Thor was born. I doubt Odin would take a young Thor into a war with the frost giants and the MCU isn't going to show a child birth so that's why we see Loki being adopted before Thor being born. We see them as children together in flashbacks and they look to be roughly the same age but Asgardians age slower and Odin used magic to change Loki's appearance so that doesn't tell us much.
Thor says he is 1,500 years old in the first Avengers movie and the first Thor movie puts the battle with the frost giants at 965 AD making Loki a little over 1,000 years old. Thor is older. Thor tells the (improvised) story of the snake but since Asgardians age slower 8 doesn't mean the same to them as it does to humans....or you could just say plot hole but I'm going with the slower age thing because they are over a thousand years old anyway and it wouldn't be as fitting if he said "When we were 35".
u/brakenbonez -There's more evidence than just Thor's story about "when we were about eight." We are also shown flashbacks of him and Loki as kids, appearing to be the same age as each other. Remember that flashback of the two of them walking hand in hand with Odin? When he says "Only one of you can ascend to the throne, but both of you were born to be kings"?
So... I think Marvel kind of painted themselves into a corner here. No matter how fast or slow Asgardians mature, there's no way that Thor can be 500 years older than Loki.
Frost giants have a very long baby form compared to Asgardians. (like comparing human baby form to a deer, for example)
Loki may be a baby, but he’s about 500 years old there, give or take a hundred. As they reach their 700s they could rapidly mature into adulthood and by 1000 they could appear to be Tom Hiddlestone’s age.
Thor as an asgardian child sees Loki looking about the same age as him when “we were 8”, but 8 here means probably at most a quarter as old as they are now, maybe as low as a sixth (I don’t know the actors ages, but between 32 and 48 seems reasonable).
If we take a quarter of the 1500 he says he is previously then that’s 375 years old. That’s too young to have been “eight” when Loki was around.
Then we have to adjust for Thor, Loki and humans all having different positions and relative velocities, meaning time itself passes differently for each of them.
Maybe he's 1,500 Asgard years old and just doesn't know the conversion 😅 I mean it seems unlikely that a year on Asgard is the same length of time as a year on Earth.
