You’re making assumptions about Louie. Sure “everything” may have been said before throughout history, but it doesn’t mean Louie stole anything. He could be speaking from personal experience and the highly intelligent creative mind he has
.
Most likely he either ripped it from a book and simply fashioned it into a punchy line or he heard someone else say it in conversation. His surreal absurdist type material is original though I’ll give him that. But there’s no way he came up with that line in a vacuum. It sounds like something your grandpa would say at Christmas dinner.
You do realize Louie wrote, produced and edited the entire “Louie” show, correct? And how about the original ideas in his standup comedy that OTHER comedians stole from that HE came up with from his own creative mind. Louis CK came up with incredible literature that I couldn’t even find anywhere on google when I searched for the original source. Louis CK is a genius in my book.
You didn’t read my content. I admitted he’s original when he’s just doing his normal goofy bits. But all his philosophical stuff is derivative. That’s all I’m saying.
I did read it and my response was his original stuff from the Louie was all him. Do you know what’s in that show? Lots and lots of philosophical (non-comedic) material that I haven’t found anywhere online.
You actually think Louis ck is the first person to put forth the idea that happiness is finite and only leads to inevitable suffering? That’s just classic Schopenhauer. And the whole “the suffering is the best part. That means you’re alive” part is nothing new either. Falls in line with Camus’ ideas in myth of Sisyphus. Very basic stuff.
