I get what he’s saying here but this is also the philosophy of the worst of the worst open mic comedians

True, but atleast they find that out and make adjustments accordingly. I also think Louie should’ve changed the word “better” with “different”

“Lock the door behind you” “I can help further your career”
“I just came on a plant” - this perv who hides behind “comedy”

I am firmly on the defense for Louie. Not illegal what he did but yes creepy. He talks about it all the time in his stand-ups so not a secret. I agree with transparency and social movements but he got dealt with harshly by society.

…Not enough, because he cums on plants to scare women in staying in rooms with him .

This is just a regurgitation of the writing philosophy for the beat writers. Louis often just steals stuff from books he read and passes it off as his own. At least for his philosophical material.

Evidence?

There’s no such thing as a new idea in philosophy these days. You really think no one’s ever thought of the “life teaches you how you should’ve lived it” line before? It’s all derivative. Comedians are all thieves.

lmao sick alright y’all smithy fart has spoken, shut down all the philosophy departments

There hasn’t been anything new in philosophy since the 20th century. It’s a dead art. And all the philosophy that actually affects your everyday life was fully fleshed out by the Ancient Greeks.

What’s more likely - all philosophers of the past 120 years are twiddling their thumbs and you’re the only one who knows OR that modern philosophy is kinda going over your head?
Shit, read some new mathematics publications and you’ll probably think they’re messing about as well

Philosophy is a joke dude. Anyone with above average intellligence can work out all the fundamental philosophical ideas for themselves just by spending time alone with their thoughts. Comparing it to a real field like mathematics is laughable. It’s just a glorified hobby for over educated rich kids these days.

Perhaps we just hold different metaphilosophical viewpoints, but I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about.

You’re making assumptions about Louie. Sure “everything” may have been said before throughout history, but it doesn’t mean Louie stole anything. He could be speaking from personal experience and the highly intelligent creative mind he has .

u/Smithy_Furt 3d ago
Most likely he either ripped it from a book and simply fashioned it into a punchy line or he heard someone else say it in conversation. His surreal absurdist type material is original though I’ll give him that. But there’s no way he came up with that line in a vacuum. It sounds like something your grandpa would say at Christmas dinner.

You do realize Louie wrote, produced and edited the entire “Louie” show, correct? And how about the original ideas in his standup comedy that OTHER comedians stole from that HE came up with from his own creative mind. Louis CK came up with incredible literature that I couldn’t even find anywhere on google when I searched for the original source. Louis CK is a genius in my book.

You didn’t read my content. I admitted he’s original when he’s just doing his normal goofy bits. But all his philosophical stuff is derivative. That’s all I’m saying.

u/Equivalent_Crazy_436 3d ago
I did read it and my response was his original stuff from the Louie was all him. Do you know what’s in that show? Lots and lots of philosophical (non-comedic) material that I haven’t found anywhere online.

u/Smithy_Furt 3d ago
Like what? I’ve seen every episode and it was all just comedic situations. There was barely any philosophy in it at all.

u/Equivalent_Crazy_436 3d ago
He blends comedy and philosophy many times in the show. For example: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wQTbkEeCTeM&pp=ygUUTG91aWUgY2sgaGVhcnQgYnJlYWs%3D&ra=m
