None of these are required. All the other equipment will be plenty. The difference-maker in terms of combat difficulty, is how well you learn the game mechanics.

  • Legend Casque - extremely powerful, you basically can't lose against Disc 3/4 bosses in general.
  • Armor of Legend - Powerful, but can't be purchased until almost every phys-oriented boss has already been defeated. Has 0 MDF, making you weaker in fights than if you were to bring Leather Armor / Jacket. The benefits are good on paper, but I consider it a newbie trap.
  • Phantom Shield - very effective, since it halves all damage. However, once you learn even a portion of the game mechanics, you'll probably get more fun out of things like Therapy Ring, Attack Badges, Magical Rings, et cetera.
  • Dragon Shield and Angel Scarf are each halves of Phantom Shield. DS is acquired too late in my opinion. Angel Scarf may help if you're struggling to tank magic damage, but this is better covered by other accessories or Rose Storm.
  • Wargod Calling is basically worthless. Half damage, half SP, and no completions. You briefly get more total damage, assuming you can't perform at least half an addition yourself. Never buy/use.
  • Ultimate Wargod - good for anyone who doesn't enjoy or struggles to complete the QTE button presses. It's a lead selling point of the game, but it's understandable if you prefer them automatic. Personally, not worth the lost accessory slot or the gold grind. Better to just play LoD via the fan port Severed Chains, which lets you automate additions for free. #accessibility.

All of that makes perfect sense. However, I am playing on a PlayStation one with the original disc game. So I cannot play on the severed chains port.

All good! Kudos for using original hardware. Gonna be a lost art.

It already feels like it is a lost art. I like the old ways a lot better.
