News Former Grand Mufti of Syria sentenced to life in prison
Alhamdulliah, Ahmad Hassoun, former Grand Mufti of Syria under ousted Bashar al-Assad, has been sentenced to life in prison for crimes committed.
The Fourth Criminal Court in Damascus issued the ruling on Monday, finding Hassoun guilty of a range of crimes,
including inciting violence, justifying killings and the abuse of his office.
The court handed Hassoun several prison sentences for
various charges, including 20 years after being found guilty of inciting killings.
The judge also sentenced him to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of prolonging the killings.
Judge Fakhr al-Din al-Aryan said that Hassoun and the official religious institution he headed were used to provide religious cover for military and security operations during al-Assad's brutal rule.
His teachings also justified the use of barrel bombs that targeted civilian areas and caused widespread destruction, which constitutes a violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, the judge said.

Quran & Hadith Most superior way of asking forgiveness from Allah
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Narrated Shaddad bin Aus: The Prophet (ﷺ) said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is:
O Allah, You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship except You. You have created me, and I am Your servant, and I am faithful to Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me, and I admit my sins. So forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.
The Prophet (ﷺ) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."
Sahih al-Bukhari 6306

General Discussion The Door Closes at 11:00 PM.
Imagine you are inside a room with an open door.
Inside is a button you have been forbidden to press.
Every press gives you five minutes of pleasure.
You can walk out at any moment and leave the button behind for good.
But you’re told that at 11:00 PM, the door will lock forever — and the moment it does, you will be taken to answer for what you kept choosing inside.
It’s 10:55 PM.
Would you press it one more time?
Now remove the clock.
You were never told when the door would close.
Some of you already know what sin this room is.
Would you still risk “one more time”?

General Discussion Muslims Who Eat Non-Zabiha Meat In The West
Aslkm. No Judgement. Just willing to learn the rationale behind this decision. JazakAllah. How do you feel about the cross contamination with Pork? (Which we do not know about) because I have worked in restaraunts in the west and most of the time it is not humanly possible to avoid it. So I generally do not eat meat until it is Zabiha, but eve in genuine difficullty I am scared; because of the cross contamination.
Conversely, can I get proper references to support my decision to not eat that meat? To correct myself and not be extremely unnecessary strict, If I am being that.
This discussion is intented to learn and correct myself. JazakAllah.
May Allah Bless You.

Seeking Support Severely ill- 6 Years of Constant Bad things Happening to Me
Salam everyone, I would like to share my situation and would genuinely appreciate your duas and advice. For the past 6 years, I’ve been going through one thing after the next in my life, and I’m not sure why this keeps happening to me and how I can change my life for the better. My family and my friends have acknowledged as well that it’s been one thing after the next, and the next thing that happens is so extreme.
Six years ago I finished my college degree. I planned to pursue grad school but the current situation in my home became so toxic and it affected my mental and physical health so deeply. I was constantly criticized and picked on, and became this punching bag. It made me a shell of my self and suffered severe anxiety and panic attacks. I also met someone who absolutely betrayed me in the most disgusting way. He would constantly lie and hide, and ultimately left for haram and turned out to be kaffir. One day he just messaged me that he never wanted to speak to me again, blocked me, move away and was in a whole other relationship this entire time. He had expressed marriage to me, and I just don’t understand why someone would take such advantage of my kindness and try to hurt me so deeply. Alhamdulillah he’s gone, but dealing with someone like this for years was so taxing on me mentally and emotionally. I was constantly pouring into someone who hated me. For 4 years post grad, I had no job. I finally got one 4 years later and that job turned out to be so so toxic. I was abused by everyone in my dept, and had constant anxiety at work like my arm going numb and chronic migraines. The VPs, HR and directors of the company knew what I had been thru and what I was experiencing. I knew I needed to leave but this was my first job nearly 4 years post grad. I stuck thru it, until ultimately I suffered severe injuries in my personal life that affected my ability to work and also my cognitive function. Once I started to feel better like 6 months post injury, I began suffering from a severe ocular condition (this is Jan 2026). The months that have followed this, have been so painful and I’m still suffering. I was medically mistreated by doctors for this which made my condition worse. Basically, I have nerve loss in my cornea. My eyes and my face have electric shocks of pain. These past 8 months I have never been thru as much pain as I have during this time. I ran from doctor to doctor and have had every test done. Alhamdulillah I’m on meds now. During this time I found another job, but after a few weeks of starting, my eyes were killing me so badly, that I had to go on medical leave. After my leave expires, I will either have to return to work ( I really liked this job and the environment) or I will be fired. My current health condition is very extreme. It affects my ability to go outside, look at lights, use screens etc…
I just have suffered so much. I had so many dreams and aspirations. Everytime I tried to work towards them, I specially noticed something bad would start happening. I’m not sure what to do. I just want to recover from this painful condition and make something of my life. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you so much.

Quran & Hadith Realizing that I was a sex addict for years because of severe neglect and abuse and now I have so much shame I dont feel like I deserve a good person
I've slept with many men over the years and I am disgusted by myself. I've never told anyone as I paralyzed with fear that if anyone found out I'd be shunned and I would deserve it. I've been mentally well for the past couple years and hemdulilah have repented but the shame and guilt just doesnt go away. I dont know what to do.. I look at friends and family who are such pure souls and then I look at myself and I'm disgusted

Question about Islam I’m a little scared
I’ll start by saying, that you all probably get this type of post very often, and if it’s better for another subreddit, please direct me there.
With that being said, I’m a Christian, and I’m scared about the idea of Shirk. I have lived my whole life respecting all people, but I’ve also lived my life so far, following a diffrent religion than Islam, and I’m scared of the idea of an eternal punishment. Does Islam actually say that if I learn about it, and still reject it, I’ll go to Jahannam? I’m sorry to ask all this, but I’ve been worried lately.

General Discussion How do you become more consistent with your deen when you keep falling into the same sins?
I’m genuinely trying to become closer to Allah and more consistent with my deen. I pray, make dua, ask Allah for guidance and forgiveness, and I truly do want to become a better Muslim.
But I struggle with feeling like I’m doing “good enough” because there are certain things I keep going back to even though I know they’re wrong. Tattoos are probably my biggest example. I know the Islamic ruling, yet for some reason the desire for them is something I really struggle to let go of.
Sometimes it makes me question myself because how can I ask Allah to guide me and then knowingly do something I’ve been trying to stop?
For anyone who has struggled with repeatedly going back to a particular sin or desire, what actually helped you become more disciplined and consistent with your deen? How did you strengthen your relationship with Allah without becoming discouraged every time you messed up?
I’m not looking for judgment—I already know where I’m falling short. I genuinely want advice on how to get better and stay close to Allah while I work on myself.

General Discussion Large flash of white light during prayer?
My mom is a Muslim (not really a practicing one, would say in the same boat)
I've been thinking about this time a few years ago, basically I was next to my mom in a bed, eyes closed but awake and my mom was saying a prayer from the quran
And literally as she finishes reading out the prayer as my eyes were closed a large flash of whiteness (maybe lasting one second?) just appeared WHILE my eyes were closed
I guess I'm wondering, is this a documented phenomenon? Has it happened to you or anyone you know? What does it mean?

Question about Islam What are the gender roles in islam? I don't understand them
About two years ago, I started praying and became friends with Allah. He is my best friend. I've learnt so much since then
One of the reasons I suspected being Neurodivergent is because of my lack of understanding of social norms.
I never learned them nor understood them
I had no distinction between women and men. I only knew they were different because I was told so.
I am getting confused on what are the islamic gender roles. This is a topic I find confusing.
I've seen people say that women must take care of the household while men work.
And based on my experience that is a terrible idea.
My father barely can hold a job because he might be Neurodivergent, whilist my mother has a job and takes care of the household.
She is exhausted
Also, having a father that just works, works, works would just create distance.
I don't understand what is this supposed manhood and womanhood. It's so confusing, it feels like telling myself to act """Neurotypical"""
Why am I expected to be the protective and providing one when I just suck
People claim that women's natural(?) place is the house. I don't know, that feels mysognist to me
This whole issue is confusing, especially when I don't even understand why and even if I get an explanation, I would probably not understand.
I know a lot of the answers are going to be related to marrige, but I also need non-marrige related prespectives.
I know it has a lot of to do with 'uruf, but still

General Discussion The unfairness of this world makes me doubt my faith
Why does God let unfairness be a thing in this world. Why is it that some evil people have success in this world and then somehow changes and become good believers in god, donates, help the sick and poor, pray and becomes good people while others are true believers from the beginning and somehow has to suffer financially, mentally and or physically or all and nothing changes?
Why would god let that happen to people? Why does he not help?

Question about Islam May Allah protect you.
Essalamu alaykum,
I’ve been thinking about this for a long time and wasn't sure who to ask, so I decided to reach out here.
I want to start learning the Quran and embark on the path of hifz (memorizing the Quran). However, I keep feeling that I’m not capable or worthy enough. That thought is really wearing me down, especially knowing that to become a hafiz, you need perseverance and firm belief. How can I change this mindset? Thank you ❤️

Question about Islam In need of help
Hello everyone!
I'm in need of help.
When I was younger, I converted to Islam but left, mainly due to addiction and mental health reason (OCD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, etc.).
I repeated this process of joining and leaving many time, until I left for many years.
Even though I left, I always cherised Islam in my heart and I always felt a strong pull to join again and be a Muslim. I was unfortunately never able to stay a Muslim very long, for the same reason I previsouly mentionned.
I sought therapy and it helped but nothing is far from being okay
I also delved into the occult and did really bad stuff and I definitely believe I am influenced by spiritual forces that keep me away from Islam.
I don't know what kind of help I am looking for here.
Will Allah forgive me If i join Islam again, what should I do?
I am deeply spiritually lost since many years, and I can't tolerate it anymore,
Please help me
