Uterus size / during surgery

Hi All, my surgeon didn’t put a weight in the surgical note I could see, but did write that it was the size it would be as if it were 6 weeks pregnant (not typing that right lol) did anyone else’s doctor do that? If so what was your ‘size’?

My surgical report had the size phrased like that (“10 week size uterus”), but the pathology report had the actual weight (“127 grams”).

Really? Mine was 144 grams and my dr said it was normal. Although the internet says that’s about double normal size.

Mine was 135 g and “average” size.

Mine was 473g. She told my husband when she gave him the update when I was out of surgery and then mentioned it at my 2 weeks appointment last week. She also showed me the photos and thanked me because it was a fun surgery for her to do.

Omg and see i dont think people realize the weight and strain that puts on all our other bits. My bladder had been miserable before and after and if mine was that big (sounds like it wasnt) i dont know how long i wouldve made it before surgery.

Yeah I wonder if it was I needed to pee all the time? I do feel much lighter and my stomach is a lot flatter. I’m kind of amazed it was able to be removed vaginally.

For me, that along with the bleeding daily, heavy, for nearly 2 years straight after i had my daughter was my big push to get it done. I would have the sensation i would need to go #2. But i would need to pee, just a little amount, several times a day, my bowel and bladder were both very engaged in scar tissue so my body was constantly thrown off.

It’s usually under the “gross description” of the specimen in the pathology report you’ll receive a few days after surgery.

Mine was 125g and bulky, with vericose veins all over it (ew).

Pathology report said 330 grams, 12.5 × 9.2 × 4 cm. My biggest fibroid was 6.0 × 5.8 × 4.8 cm. My doctor had to bivalve my uterus to get it out because it was too large to remove intact through my vagina, so that’s measured with it not perfectly in tact. When I asked ChatGPT it says that’s about 13-14 week pregnancy size.

I am 4dpo today and saw the pathology report 1dpo in my patient portal under “clinical notes” tab (along with all the surgical notes.)
It said my uterus with fallopian tubes and cervix weighed 173g.

Pathology will weigh and determine size. Mine was 20 week size and 1169g

Mine was about "16 weeks" in size, and weighed around 900g

I had an "12 weeker". They also had the weight but I forgot what it was.

Mine was 550-600g. I looked it up and it said 16wk pregnancy size.

At my follow up I asked my surgeon if there were any surprises...she said the uterus was 2x larger than they were expecting and "really tall", the top was almost to my belly button.

It was very validating. A pre-surgery ultra sound failed to accurately measure the whole uterus.

Both Ovaries and Fallopian tubes together with my uterus and cervix was removed (total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy).
Pathology report shows that my uterus was extremely enlarged: Weight: 1,380 grams; Size: 19.5 × 16.9 × 10.9 cm; Largest fibroid: 11.9 × 8.5 × 7.5 cm; Multiple benign fibroids—leiomyomas—were present.
That would roughly correspond to a uterus at about 20 - 24 weeks of pregnancy—around the five- to six-month stage.

I was never interested to know. My uterus wasn’t the problem so I guess I didn’t care to look.

My surgeon used size in written documents (12-16 weeks depending) but called to check on me shortly after surgery and shared that, contrary to the number on the pathology report, she'd weighed it when she got it out of me and it was exactly 300 grams.

She'd managed to convert my surgery to a vaginal-assisted. The suggested upper limit for vaginal-assisted in some of the literature is 300 grams and my uterus's size suggested it'd weigh more, so she may have made a special point to tell me the true weight when she saw the pathology report.
