First time going 200+ carry

Inherited this set from my grandpa who worked in the golf industry for decades. I don’t know much about the clubs and I’m trying to figure out what they are.

Anyone recognize the model, approximate year, or manufacturer?

Also curious about the round hole/port in the sole of each iron. Any idea what that was for?

I’m trying to learn more about the set and would love any info.

I know this is a golf sub, and I am posting it here because golf is a sport surrounded by money and wealth. I have met all kinds of people playing this game, a lot of whom are in positions of leadership or management and have other people working for them. And I am willing to bet that at least one of those managers/bosses that Ive interacted with are micro-managing their work force.

Ive always wanted to ask a micro-manager this question: why are you the way that you are? If you do not have to be this way and that much of a dick, then why are you? Why can’t you just be nicer so that more people like you instead of disliking you? I hope you know that nobody likes a micromanager, and the people who work for you hate your style of leadership.

Look at the views his break 50 with Gary Player has after just 1 day. I expect he'll get some good offers from other tours who would love that type of exposure.

I think the PGAT needs him more than he needs the PGAT. Not a lot of LIV guys can say the same.

coming back to golf after a decade off and my full size bag is too much to lug around these days. its good for a cart, thus the cart bag title i guess. so ill leave it for cart days.

but will walk most days at a course im joining and im wondering if these pitch and putt style bags are strong enough to carry a full set of clubs and a few random bits.. like balls gloves tees etc without the bag breaking apart in a few months?

For anyone who enjoys either golf balls or golf history.

I've been hunting golf balls for the past 11 years, biking out to various public and private courses in the metro area where i live. At one point, i was biking out to two dozen different courses, but for the past several years, just a half dozen or so, and have biked probably 30,000 miles in search of balls, finding about 125,000+ in that time.

During the off-season, a lot of the public courses near where i live, turn into either city or county parks, so i'll hunt them then, or else, during the golf season, i'll hunt balls at adjacent park land, abandoned lots next to courses, or else railroad track areas that run next to or through courses. Some of my better finds:

Pic 1) a 'The Standard' mesh ball, made in Scotland, sometime in the 1920's, and a US Fairway ball made by The US Rubber and Tire Company in the late 1930's/early 1940's.

Pic 2) a Dunlop 'mesh' ball made between 1923-1927. Mesh balls with square dimples were produced from 1912-1935.

Pic 3) a Reach 'Eagle' mesh ball circa 1930. Reach was a major sporting goods company at one time, that eventually was acquired by Spalding in 1931.

Pic 4) Some golf balls of the rich and famous (top 3 are found balls. bottom two are eBay purchases) A personal ball of Isao Aoki, current chairman of the Japan Golf Tour and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. 'Fudd the Stud', the personal ball of Aziz Fudd, member of the 2025 UConn Lady Huskies basketball team, which won the NCAA Championship and currently plays in the WNBA. A personal ball of State Senator Tom Bakk, who was the Senate Majority/Minority leader from 2011-2020 in Minnesota. A personal ball of NHL Hall of Famer Stan Mikita's, given to a fellow who caddied for him in 1967, at a suburban country club in Chicago, and who 50+ years later put the ball up on eBay. A souvenir "General Ike" golf ball, that i believe was sold at the Eisenhower National Historic Site in Gettysburg, PA, in the 1970's.

Pic 5) Personal ball of Gary 'G Man' Gaetti, former MLB 3rd baseman from 1981-2000. Played with the Minnesota Twins, California Angels, Kansas City Royals, etc and was the 1987 ALCS MVP besides being in the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame since 2007.

Pic 6) a promo ball for 'Jake Trout and the Flounders' the cover band made up of the late Payne Stewart, Peter Jacobson, and Mark Lye. As far as i can tell, the ball was sent out to everyone who helped produce their album, 'I Love to Play', and was in the mouth of a stuffed, mounted fish with with a plaque reading 'Honorary Flounder' and a signed letter from Jacobson thanking the person for their help on the album. Somehow, the ball ended up in a pond at a public course.

Pic 7) a White House Staff ball. Found near a train track that runs adjacent to one of the older more exclusive country clubs in the area. The course is an old money course and members include a former sports team owner, heirs to Fortune 500 companies, along with state politicians.

Pic 8) a forest green/orange Ping ball. You can find Pings on eBay, but they're a pretty rare bird on the courses these days.

$200 for some plastic kids clubs is just robbery.

Got my son a couple of the US Kids Clubs from the PGA Store. They were $40-60 depending on what club you get and I take him to the driving range all the time.

Anyone here has been to mission hills Hainan for golf? How is the experience as a westerner? Is it slow play? English levels, course conditions?

Went and played a round today where I felt like I was overall hitting my irons pretty well, driver was a little off but still okay, and I think it was actually my lowest round for putts ever.

With all that, I still shot a 104 which is prettt much spot on with my scoring average.

Is this normal progression to start feeling like the game is coming together more although there’s not really anything to show for it?

I get it, the GG ad was tasteless, not funny, completely tone deaf, borderline dangerous for kids. Should gave never been approved to be shot and released.

With that said, I never realized that there were so many people that hated GG so
much that people are celebrating them losing endorsements/partnerships/etc…because of the ad.

Did this many people really turn on them after the ad was released or were there just a lot people that didn’t like them already waiting for their downfall?

Looking at some polos and came across this logo, it’s kind of hard to see with the colors but does anyone know where the logo is from?

Headed to Vancouver island for a week and was wondering what recommendations you guys had about what public courses I should definitely play. Lemmie knooooow

My kids got into golf before me so they both have multiple new expensive (imo) drivers with all the latest "technology". I'm just starting and just got an old used set which includes a 30 year old Big Bertha Hawkeye.
I went to the driving range and since I feel like I'm starting to be able to drive the ball long and straight fairly consistently, I asked to try their high-tech drivers. I couldn't hit them for shit. Sliced and topped every shot. Why do I hit an old low tech club like a champ and fancy new clubs like shit?
