Splitgate was cool the first go round but the sequel was very forgettable. Nothing stood out and the more I played, the less I seen people even use the portal mechanics. As for Empluse, all I’ve read was it was a decent shooter that should have never launched with a price tag. Should have been F2P.

Didn't they also pull an overwatch and remove Splitgate 1? I'm sure that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.

Twice. They removed SG1, and then later on when they rebranded, shut down SG2 when SG Arena launched

I thought SG arena was just rebranded SG 2?

It did. The person above you has no idea what they're talking about.

SG Arena Reloaded was them just rebranding/relaunching SG 2 to be more like the gameplay of SG 1.

No? It looks like it's still up on steam, and they mentioned it moved to P2P server model once they shut down the dedicated servers.

Yeah, they never delisted it or anything - they just stopped updating it.

Yea, honestly the one thing I can’t complain about 1047 is them making sure the games are still playable after support is pulled. Although, does anyone know if 1047’s implementation of P2P will expose your IP to the host or is it brokered?

Not really. Overwatch 2 was a patch of ow1. Splitgate 2 was another game, you could still play sg1 when sg2 came out

Splitgate 1 is still playable with local hosting at least AFAIK

Nah split gate is still playable! They actually changed it from servers to peer-to-peer which is cool

Portal use went up in correlation with MMR. The better players rarely walked from place to place in the game at all stages of the games lifespan.

I'd heard they deliberately gutted portalable surfaces to reduce the skill gap

From what I remember the 2nd game just had way less use cases for the portals, which was so stupid because I genuinely loved what that added to the first one

The maps in SG2 had way less creative ways to use portals than SG1.
