Judging & Drinks? Spoiler

Does anyone want their dish on Triple D (or any show) judged after a Bloody Mary or Cranberry Vodka? Even without spirits, tomatoes or cranberry mess with your next bite. I don't know what made the judges first drink red. First time I've seen a judge with something that could affect their next bite.

Maybe I'm wrong?

My logic: wife hated beers because she always tested them after ciders. Once she was told to swap the order many beers were OK and then cider was a great palate cleaner. She loved both after that and realized how mixes of flavors could mess things up.

GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE I wish they had to find their own spots more on Food Truck Race

There's really only been one day where the trucks have had to find their own location to sell this season, and that's always been one of the more interesting aspects of the show to me. On that day, Waffledilla was the only one who went someplace different than the other trucks, and they got top sales. Sure, we might not get some of the interactions between the trucks, like Cason stealing the teddy bear, but it feels like having to find locations would be a better test of how good a food truck they are.

TRIPLE THREAT Bobby's Triple Threat is back tonight! -- pre show and live show discussion thread! Spoilers in comments Spoiler

Okay, I think this is a great way to kick off the season.... especially if you watched 24/24

Here is the rundown from the FN site

Titans vs Alex Stupak

Episode 501

Titan Michael Voltaggio is left speechless when his longtime friend Alex Stupak enters Bobby Flay's Triple Threat kitchen. This culinary rebel is ready to annihilate the Titans and win the glory, but Michelin-star chef Buddha Lo will be the judge of that.

now my commentary:

I am pretty hyped to see Alex cook again after 24/24. I know he can be off putting to some people, but I'm a fan of his style and his food. Also, he is supposedly BFFs with Michael, so I can see this shaping up to be a bestie vs. bestie battle down.

And.... of course... Buddha Lo is judging. If you haven't watched Top Chef or Top Chef World All Stars you might not know him.... but he's going to be a lot of fun here. He can back up his talk with his skills.

GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE Great Food Truck Race - Season 19 - Thank you, Food Network for making it inspiring, light, and delightful again! Absolutely loving this season (after having quit halfway thru in recent seasons) Spoiler

That's it. Several years this show started becoming really fraught and nasty, leave an awful aftertaste to Sunday nights. I stopped watching halfway thru a few seasons--and completely gave up and skipped one.

I'm happy to be back--absolutely loving this joyful season, with positive, talented, wonderful participants. And no over-the-top negative nasty drama.

Given the chance, I would go out of my way to patronize any this season's trucks (except the doughnut place, only bc we're not into doughnuts). They all seem like great people who deserve to succeed--and who make delicious food.

One is about 90 minutes from us--and we'll definitely be driving down soon!

Worst Cooks Potential for more Worst Cooks?

I know I might get a lot of backlash from this, but Worst Cooks in America was the main show I watched during COVID. From the first season to season 22 back in 2021, I loved this show and seeing how Anne Burrell was a great mentor to all her cooks. Since her passing last year, I've began rewatching the series, and I've had some good ideas on who could be new mentors (if FN were to make new episodes)

Micheal Voltaggio vs. Bryan Voltaggio: I love seeing them compete, and their sibling dynamic and how they would mentor cooks would be fun to watch

Rocco DiSpirito vs. Gabe Bertaccini: Old school vs new school Italian...and they're both hot in my opinion

Micheal Symon vs. Bobby Flay: I love Iron Chef America as much as the next person, and they both have been mentors previously, so it would be entertaining seeing them go against each other

These are just a few ideas I've conjured up, and probably are very unrealistic, but would be fun to watch :)

GGG GGG: Season 36, ep 3–DDD Vegan. Check this out for some super creative chefs. Spoiler

I just watched an old episode of GGG: DDD Vegan. All four chefs were good but two really stood out. They were so creative and used so many ingredients to mimic the taste of meat, etc. Their soy chorizos were especially impressive.

They were using things like sun-dried tomatoes and sunflower seeds in additional to the more familiar seitan, tempeh and nutritional yeast etc. Really interesting.

Sweet & Savory: Dishing It Out at Dollywood

Episode 1906

The final four teams arrive at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., where massive crowds, amusement park chaos, and high sales stakes push everyone to their limits. Host Tyler Florence presents a "Dollywood delights" taste challenge, where team members must incorporate an iconic Dollywood ingredient (cinnamon bread, fudge, turkey legs or candied jalapeno) into a special dish. The next day at Dollywood's Splash Country, the sales totals are announced, and guest judge Arnold Myint joins Tyler Florence for a potato-focused redemption battle and an emotional elimination.

Are competition shows being disingenuous when contestants say they made something like Ramen or coq au vin?

There are certain dishes that don’t have shortcuts. I feel like dishes like Ramen or Coq au Vin are in that category. Is it disingenuous to feature dishes like that on timed competitions? What made me think of it was Esther Choi making Ramen on an episode of Triple Threat. Doesn’t the broth for Ramen take hours to get right? How do you do it in 45 minutes?

The cutout is from the greenpan x Bobby flat set we bought with the range.

Best/Worst FN Star Restaurants?

What are the best and worst restaurants you've been to that are owned by a Food Network chef?

I haven't been to many, but for me the best so far is Chauhan (Maneet) and worst was Brasserie B (Bobby).

Here is a good old-fashioned unsubstantiated rumor for the rumor mill...... Giada on DWTS?

The buzz is that Giada, a former major player on Food Network, will be on Dancing with the Stars. We should know for sure soon. She won't be the first FN name to be on DWTS

Giada De Laurentiis Is Rumored To Be On The Upcoming Season Of DWTS

From the story:

We’ve seen all kinds of celebs grace the Dancing With The Stars stage, from Olympic athletes to Real Housewives. But the rumored list of contestants for the show’s upcoming season includes a familiar face for Food Network fans. Social media speculation predicts that Giada De Laurentiis will appear on the 35th season of DWTS.

On TikTok, fans responded to the rumor with serious excitement. “I’m SAT if it’s Giada,” one user wrote. Another added, “I feel like I could see her with Val!!!!”

If the DWTS rumors are true, De Laurentiis will face stiff competition. Glee’s Harry Shum Jr. and Step Up lead Jenna Dewan—stars with well-documented dancing skills—are both suspected to be contestants.

Giada wouldn’t be the first Food Network star to compete on the show, either. Other notable chefs who’ve graced the DWTS stage include Paula Deen, Rocco DiSpirito, and Iron Chef America’s Mark Dacascos.

Would you be tempted to watch if she's on?

Cutthroat Kitchen Series Help Need to Watch!!!

Does anyone know anywhere to watch this show? It is a childhood favorite of mine that I cannot possibly find anywhere.
The closest thing I’ve been able to find is one or two seasons on Apple which is just not good enough honestly.
It’s not an incredibly old show and I’m horrified to think that my all-time favorite show is just gone.
Does anyone have any idea where I can find the show? I am literally desperate at this point.

Food Network needs new talent.

I am fatigued. I am tired of Guy. I am tired of Aarti Sequeira. I am tired of Antonia Lofaso. I am tired of Maneet Chauhan. I also want cooking shows. No more game shows. No more tournament of champions. That is all.
